the most annoying voice in any tv show ever
@@vika0194 Too bad she couldn't have eaten anything that would be permanent!
@@vika0194 Nah... that was janice...
For me, the biggest achievement of that scene is the perfect rendition of the fact that wasabi doesn't hit you straight when you eat it, but as it passes the rear of the mouth and you exhale, filling your nose with spicy wasabi mist.
So true, once you feel it, it's already too late.
When I ate too much wasabi it effected my brain not my nose!
Fun fact: The Wasabi sold in America (Which is what's used here in this scene, and I assume when you all have tasted/tried) isn't actually Wasabi.
It's just horseradish sauce.
Real Wasabi made from the root, isn't actually spice at all. - To my knowledge. Getting real Wasabi isn't easy in America since most major grocery stores sell the fake stuff
@@DaysofKnight Yeah real Wasabi has to be grated fresh to get the right taste, so premade wasabi paste is almost always going to be mostly horseradish paste.
@@DaysofKnightreal wasabi definitely definitely has the same kick, i would say it has a slightly earthier taste (i live in tokyo just for reference)
I read an interview with Fran Drescher once where she said she used to see a voice coach to learn to talk like a normal person. But when she started talking that way, casting directors complained that she no longer sounded like Fran Drescher, so she stopped doing it. Glad to see the lessons weren't for nothing.
What? You don't think that she really shoved 4 tablespoons of wasabi into her face? You know... that "stuff really clears the sinuses".
@@cosmicraysshotsintothelight Wow you read absolutely nothing they wrote.
@@chriskay1449 You ain't real bright, boy.
Wait a minute - she stopped going to voice coaching, didn't end up speaking any differently anyway, and you're saying the lessons *weren't* a waste of time?
Wtf?

That rubbery shrimp must have felt like a relentless chew, stretching your jaw beyond comfort. Quite the harrowing gastronomic journey, isn't it? 😨
and she does that little finger snap when she can't get it. XD
The way they just watch her fall to the floor and continue eating 😂😂😂

Nowadays it would be filmed on a camphone.

actually, in a crowded space like NYC, about the only way strangers can give you any sense of privacy when you're shoved up against their nose in the subway, is to ignore you.

This is the first time I've heard her voice in English. Bloody hell, we've been missing out in Germany. All these years. I think I might rewatch.
Same!!!
Does that mean it is dubbed in German when it was shown in Germany? That would make a lot of sense. I suppose it would have been very difficult to have tried to do that accent in German but would have probably been hilarious
can germans have a nasal accent like that?

I’ve never had wasabi before, but I know enough about it that Fran recovered way too fast from trying that much wasabi.
Well, that was probably prop Wasabi, something edible made to look like the real thing, but without the kick. Because there's no way you could recover that fast, from that much Wasabi, unless you're a total chili freak.
Not the amount she ate. But actually, wasabi does have a very short burn time. If you ate that much you’d still be Fine in about a minute, it doesn’t linger.
It looked like avocado that gone thru a blender.
i've recovered from a lot more then that in a stupidly short time. My first time eating it, i was trying to be hardcore (when your young everything is a proving ground) ate WAY TOO MUCH. it didnt last that long. i'm just sad i didnt yell at the top of my lungs "WOOH YEAH WHO'S UP FOR ROUND TWO?!"

"Smells like fish here..." if you can smell the fish at a Sushi Restaurant, get up and leave.
Facts
Agreed
Thanks. Noted.
Why
@@mcbrodz1663 Because what people think of as "fish smell" is the smell of the flesh of the fish when it's been sitting out for a while. Good sushi is fresh sushi, and should not have been exposed to air and warmth long enough to give off that odor. If the restaurant either doesn't care about sushi or know about sushi enough to know that and avoid it, it's not a place whose sushi you should even consider eating, so the best choice is to get up, leave, and go someplace where they have the care and competence to serve sushi that doesn't stink.
The Nanny is the definition of an underrated TV show. It was moderately popular, lasted six seasons, has great reviews by the people, but is largely forgotten amongst the nostalgia machine.

I was at a sushi place years ago where this also happened. We were at the hibachi grill where you sit with other people and it was some lady’s first time at a Japanese restaurant.
