Ave Maria was written by German composer Franz Schubert in 1825. Marco sings a verse in Finnish and Floor sings first in Latin and then in English. Ave Maria means 'Hail Mary' this was the angel Gabriel's greeting to Mary an announcement that she would become pregnant and give birth to Jesus.

The music was composed by Franz Schubert in 1825. The lyrics are based on the catholic prayer ,Hail Mary. Ave Maria is Latin for Hail Mary.
    Latin lyrics:
    Ave Maria
    Gratia plena
    Maria, gratia plena
    Maria, gratia plena
    Ave, ave dominus
    Dominus tecum
    Benedicta tu in mulieribus
    Et benedictus
    Et benedictus fructus ventris
    Ventris tuae, Jesus.
    Ave Maria
    Ave Maria
    Mater Dei
    Ora pro nobis peccatoribus
    Ora pro nobis
    Ora, ora pro nobis peccatoribus
    Nunc et in hora mortis
    Et in hora mortis nostrae
    Et in hora mortis nostrae
    Et in hora mortis nostrae
    Ave Maria
    In English :
    Hail Mary, full of grace,
    Mary, full of grace,
    Mary, full of grace,
    Hail, Hail, the Lord.
    The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed,
Blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
    Thy womb, Jesus.
    Hail Mary!
    Hail Mary, Mother of God,
    Pray for us sinners,
    Pray, pray for us;
    Pray, pray for us sinners,
Now and at the hour of our death,
    The hour of our death
    The hour of our death,
    The hour of our death
    Hail Mary.

This is a beautiful piece of music, composed by Franz Schubert. It's usually sung in Latin, during the Christmas season. Ave Maria in the Latin means, Hail Mary full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. However, the lyrics are expressed differently also, as "Lady Of The Lake", but the prayer reference is still contained here in the version Marco and Floor sang.

Hi Zoey, I wonder if you noticed anything peculiar abt what was said after: "I believe the song is about Mother Mary the mother of Christ".
At 9:05 "You learn stuff when you're childish.." and at 9:18 "It's been a long time since I was childish". What do you make of that? Any thoughts? Cheers!

@@BrendonChase_2015 Jesus embraces us as little children because we are innocent and eager to learn, and absorb what we learn. As we grow older we put away childish things, and reason differently. Life throws us into the lions den and we, as born again believers, wrestle not against flesh and blood, but powers and principalities, wickedness in high places. Spiritual warfare becomes a reality to contend with, that we didn't have to deal with when we were childish. This is what we as believers all have to deal with. What are your thoughts Brendon? Also, a great psalm just came to mind while typing this. Psalm 131:2 "Surely I have stilled and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with his mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me."

@@BrendonChase_2015 I never thought anything like that at all, because Crissy is a Christian and has made that known on their channel several times. I thought Crissy was making small references to her personal thoughts in her walk with the Lord, which led me to respond based on what the Bible says about "childish" things.

    • @BrendonChase_2015
      @BrendonChase_2015 Рік тому

@@zoeystar4668 Thanks Zoey. Quite a lot of "Christians" i.e. US protestant sectarians have something against Mary (and Latin sacred music) which they consider to be a Catholic thing, i.e. something "childish" to unlearn when you "grow up". This was a chance to appreciate the rich Western culture & tradition of sacred music, untainted by comments indicative of sectarian bias. Religion could & should've been left out of this by Crissy imo. But ty for your thoughts. Cheers!

Marko is shorter that I always though. Or Floor is taller that I always though! (I always figured her at near 6 feet though). One thing I like about this performance is the way Floor is wardrobed. Where used to seeing her looking like a cross between Wonder Woman and World of Warcraft. Here she is all denim and lace, dark and lovely. (I fell for a dark and lovely woman like that once many years ago. There's still a little piece of my heart in her pot with all the others).

The translation from Latin to English is as follows:
    Hail Mary
    Full of Grace
    God is with thee
    Blessed art thou amongst women
    And blessed
Is the fruit of thy womb (Jesus)

Lovely rendition of a song that's been around for a long time indeed, most certainly the original lyrics in Latin (partly sung by Floor). And it does seem to ring a bell, albeit somewhat far off in the distance, since Crissy seems to remember something from her childhood after correctly guessing: "I believe the song is about Mother Mary the mother of Christ".
Then at 9:05 an interesting confession of sorts when she says: "You learn stuff when you're childish.." and again at 9:18 "It's been a long time since I was childish". Intriguing choice of wording there, since "childish" usually has a derogatory connotation. Of course Crissy might have used it differently here. So let me ask if you don't mind: do you long for being "childish" again in the way you meant it here, Crissy? Cheers from Amsterdam! 🤘

"I didn't understand a word ..." ... ummm ... yah. Since Finnish is a member of the Finno-Ugric group of the Uralic language. Over time it has of course borrowed words from the Baltic Languages, German and Russian but at it's root is separate from the Indo-European languages - ex: English, Dutch, German, Spanish, French etc. You may hear words in Russian or German or French for example and understand that word since all Indo-European languages have a common root .. NOT so with Uralic .. as different as possible .. Uralic and Indo European if connected would have to be long ago ... heck .. Proto-Indo-European is ~5,000 BC .. back to something called Proteo-Indo-Anatolian at which point we start to see mention of Hittites etc. ... way, way back.
