      He was set up by the people who control cycling, Lance was allowed to succeed while taking EPO while Marco was exposed as a doping cheat for doing exactly the same as all the other contenders, sorry to burst your bubble but that's the truth, they were all doping & still are, they have to only now its different substances.

      +Daniel Hobgen How do you know this? Are you Lance Armstrong's personal confidant? Could it be LA was looking round to see when Pantani would open up his sprint for the victory? Clearly, you know absolutely nothing about cycling to make such an idiotic claim.

    • @thesoultwins72
      @thesoultwins72 8 років тому +7

      +1AmericanInAsia Wow - when did you learn to READ?!? (both these points were made in Phil Ligget's commentary ''Mr anally-retentive'!) FYI - I was on Mt Ventoux in 2000 and actually saw the finish, and take it from me, there was no such gesture from LA. I would also argue that the very last person on this planet you would ever imagine giving anything away, is Lance Armstrong! Pantani was TEN times the climber that LA was and proved this completely on the Ventoux stage of the 2000 TDF. He was constantly dropped and yo-yoing off the back throughout the stage - but managed to fight his way back up to the lead group. He then attacked repeatedly before finally getting away.The thing you don't realise from this video is just how incredibly strong the winds were that day (in excess of 100kph) and the fact that the temperature was hovering at just over 1 degree centigrade. Pantani being a much slighter rider than LA would have been at a positive disadvantage - and this again illustrates how good a climber he was. The vast crowds went wild when Pantani crossed the line first - Lance Armstrong like most Americans is disliked intensely by the French and most Europeans for that matter! (I could relate a story to I witnessed on another stage to demonstrate this where typically arrogant Americans ignorant of cycling etiquette made complete idiots of themselves!)Pantani was (and still is) my hero and I had the privilege of actually riding alongside him (and his Mercatone team) as they rolled out to the start line in Dublin during the 1998 TDF. To be fair, and despite NEVER returning a positive dope test - we all now know that he was 'on the juice' - but then so was ''Big Lance'' and you can bet LA had the better doctors and more powerful choice of drugs!Finally, as with most of your other comments - Pantani's depression DID NOT begin when he broke his leg. (where do you get these bullshit 'facts' from?!?) His depression started in the aftermath of his expulsion from the 1999 Giro d'Italia, as he was convinced (along with his family and close friends) that it was a conspiracy against him. Now get back in your box muppet ok.

      +TheSoulTwins I was actually on the motorbike behind Armstrong & Pantani during the last part of the climb - take it from me, Armstrong definitely gifted the stage to Pantani.

    • @thesoultwins72
      @thesoultwins72 8 років тому +5

      LOL...I was inside Lance's left sock and therefore know that he absolutely did NOT 'gift' the stage to Pantani!

    • @treygray2817
      @treygray2817 7 років тому +4

      TheSoulTwins Lance along with the entire US Postal team has a blood transfusion the night before Ventoux. Hamilton and Livingston, used the boost to shell out the leading group on the climb. It looked so unnatural even Ligett exclaimed "what is going on here?" The best cyclists on the planet were being dropped by doms! Pantani was on a far inferior program and was still a match for Armstrong after clawing his way back to the leading group

      @Chris Indermuehle I question that. He beat all those dopers by far and made it look too easy. He was on something else they didn't have doping wise.

    • @alvmusic4402
      @alvmusic4402 4 роки тому +2

      @Chris Indermuehle of course. while the substance can improve the performance by 8% max (do your research or ask performance doctors about this data) and these athletes do have a top notch team, they get chosen for the job because they are the best of the best. just look at their bodies, it's literally all engine. And they won't dope all the time every race but just peaking for a few stages that are really necessary. while doping obviously helps a lot, you don't do it on any athlete and just win like it's too easy.

    • @Joseminario
      @Joseminario 4 роки тому

      @Chris Indermuehle There's no reason to look into it. We all know what happened. Stop defending the guy just because you happened to be born in the same country. It's not just about doping but also corruption, he got caught twice and they looked the other way because it was "good for the sport" otherwise he would have been DQ'd in his first tour win and later banned for life after 2001 tour de Suisse

    • @Joseminario
      @Joseminario 4 роки тому

      @Chris Indermuehle you're missing the point. The reason he won all that he did was due to corruption. He got caught twice by 2001. End of game, lifetime ban. And of course I hate the guy, he was a bully and a thug, my question is why don't you hate him? People like him should be spit on not worshiped.

    • @Joseminario
      @Joseminario 4 роки тому

      @Chris Indermuehle no other doping story had his level of corruption, give me an example of any other cyclist that bought the UCI, wada, etc. Again, you are defending a bully and a thug and the only reason I see u doing that is that you are from the same country. U do realize he won and not u. Him winning doesn't make u a winner, just saying.

    such bullshit. pantani was tearing the road up. and, truth is, if pantani had had a great day on stage 16, he would have won the tour. he took a chance and gave it his all. so he got reeled in. so what? he had a chance to tear the tour apart, and he took it. this analysis of pantani on this stage is bullshit. he had won two mountain stages and was feeling quite well. damn, he could have held back and just attacked on the final climb and maybe got a podium in paris. that was not pantani...he went for it on this stage and if he had a great day would have taken the tour. yes, i am sure lance was holding back at times in this tour knowing the mistake pantani made in giro 1999, but pantani was doing well and gave it his all on this stage.
