I think you're all missing the point, kisame did not want to let itachi go as he viewed him as a real brother, the only hes ever had. He fought with him as fighting is the only language he knows how to speak and he simply wanted to have a final simple intimate dialogue with Itachi. When we watch itachi fight we are always seeing it from the opponent's perspective in reality he's probably just standing behind a tree watching his opponent dance with thin air or a shadow clone until he feels it's the right time to reveal himself
it was the 3rd and he didnt necessarily say he's greater but that he thought more like a hokage as a child than sarutobi did even as an adult. i think he was also kind of referencing his failure with orochimaru and not killing him when he had the chance.
its a shame we never saw itachi go 100% in any battle. he went to the lowest power he could on oppenets cause his reservse were shit. he toyed with all his opponents
well itachi was not a fighter he stated this himself , he'd rather not fight at all that's why he uses Genjutsu in every battle he prefers not to fight if he can help it.

Damn, the differences between Itachi and the rest of the Uchihas are stunning. You always have this image about the Uchiha clan members as being blood thirsty and arrogant in the battle and then there’s Itachi, who is so contained and humble even though he is clearly OP and a capable shinobi, compared to most others. I love the way his character is constructed.

Something else i find interesting about this duo is that Kisame had betrayed or killed basically every ally or friend he’s ever had except for Itachi. Even when Itachi had his own goals separate from the Akatsuki Kisame never stopped nor revealed him. In fact, he enables Itachi to do the things he does. Kisame didn’t fight Jiraiya, he didn’t attack the Leaf Village, and he never stopped him from checking on Sasuke. Even this fight feels more like a sparring match than anything else. Kisame himself even halted the fight as things escalated because it’s as though this fight was more of a farewell than anything else. Kisame knew Itachi planned to die against Sasuke and, again, he didn’t stand in Itachi’s way. It’s clear that Itachi was the one person Kisame saw as both an equal and a friend. Kisame is a much deeper character than he appears at first glance and I like that about this series.
@@scole1448 of course; Itachi’s goal during that fight was never to kill Sasuke-it was to draw out Orochimaru who was absorbed into Sasuke’s body while simultaneously trying to direct Sasuke’s blame of the loss of his clan towards both himself (Itachi) and the clan itself due to its traditions of murder for power. His hope would be that Sasuke would take his eyes then return to the Leaf having blamed everything on Itachi and their cursed bloodline. Itachi was also sick to the point of being on his deathbed and would have died had he faced Sasuke or not. When Itachi says that “it’s time” or “the time has come” he wasn’t talking about their fateful battle in the same way Sasuke would have. His final words to Sasuke were even “forgive me, Sasuke. There won’t be a next time” in reference to all the times he told Sasuke “maybe later” whenever Sasuke would ask to train with him. This is also why he died at the end of the fight, he didn’t die due to any injuries sustained during his battle with Sasuke, but he did want to make it seem so. Throughout the fight Zetsu even makes note of this by saying Itachi was getting hit by things he should have easily been able to avoid and he found it strange. Itachi wouldn’t kill Sasuke even if he weren’t sick. Sasuke is the one person Itachi couldn’t ever being himself to kill and if he could have he would have done so during the night he killed the clan, but keeping Sasuke alive was the one condition Itachi gave Danzo in exchange for partaking in the massacre. In a fight to the death between the two Sasuke wins 10/10 times simply because Itachi wouldn’t land the killing blow.

Even though Itachi is badass, I think even Kisame knew that Itachi was going to die. If you think about that last line Kisame just said, it's seems very much so. Especially the way Kisame died. The reason why he suicided instead of actually keep fighting(with low chance of winning), he knew that he held to much information about Akatusuki in general, even about Itachi. So I think that Kisame knew very well how the outcome of this battle would end.

For me Itachi is one of the most Unique characters from the series. The thing that people underestimate about Itachi fights/encounters, isn't just his power, (it's mainly writters or Kishimoto's fault for making itachi seem or to look very powerful throughout the series) but how smart and intelligent he is during various situations, he never, ever underestimates his opponents because of his composure and his way of being, the level of thinking he's on honestly dwars most people in the series, with only people like Minato and Shikaku comparable with him. More precisly, Itachi isn't just an ordinary Shinobi also, he pretty much knows and he's also aware that all strong opponents have weaknesses (including himself), and he specializes in finding those "weaknesses" and exploiting them ("*Even the strongest of opponents always has a weakness*" - Uchiha Itachi) because he's that type of character who can exceed almost any expectations. The advantage of being an Uchiha, especially for Itachi and Madara, is that during an encounter against them, they always have a counter because of their unpredictable way of fighting factor, they don't run out of options or techniques, they almost always have a counter in their arsenal, even forbidden jutsus seems irrellevant against them, only a few Uchihas know a certain way to approach the situation with a certain and effective technique, that's why is hard/difficult to fight against them in my opinion. ☯️
He's literally overrated mostly because of everything u mentioned. He's wanked to death based on his Intelligence. Overall a shitty character that got retconned after part one and made no sense, he was supposed to be evil before Kishimoto decided to make him a pseudo good character with an agenda.

The Itachi storyline is by far the best of all in Naruto, second comes the Kakashi and Obity storyline. Both are great, but Itachi is suck a genius caracter. He's simply amazing, and his quotes carry a strong message that also can translate into real life.

i just realized something about these visual eyes the Sharingan focus mainly on outer aspect of things they see...like copying jutsus, master at creating illusions, outer guardians, space time dimensions... while the Byakugan focus on inner aspect like see through objects, 'zooming' things they see, pinpoint a person's flow of chakra and their acupuncture points and the Rinnegan? both + u can control all 5 basic elements of jutsu also turns you from a ninja into a sage

I agree. Even though Sharingan looks cooler, I feel as though I would have Byakugan if I could choose. It just sounds way more practical and useful to have 360 degree xray vision
He had good reserves of chakra although not as much as Madara I fear. But, he was hailed as the true heir of the Sharingan in the first series who could use the Sharingan to it's full potential. Too bad he caught that illness and he planned on dying once he fights sasuke to atone for his sins.
my guy itachi doesn't like to fight that's why his battles consist of a lot of Genjutsu , and he doesn't like battles that would consume too much time , as he stated in the naruto series after kisame wanted to fight jiraya and itachi said it would take too much time.
Yes I remember he said that, but remember Kisame asked to attack them and Itachi didn't want to kill Naruto since he was secretly protecting the village from afar without letting anyone else know. So that is why he said no and it would take too much time.
MC Koncept he also stated that if they were to engage in a serious battle against Jiraiya there’s a high chance of one of them dying in the process so that wasn’t worth it.
Julian that’s a tough fight to judge. Sasori may not be susceptible to genjutsu due to his puppet body. That being said, if Itachi wasn’t holding back, his Amaterasu would burn through any shell he used. Puppet masters are not known for their taijutsu. I doubt Sasori could dodge in time to whip out his puppet scrolls.
Itachi and Kisame is my favorite duo in the Akatsuki. They both respect each other, plus they are very strong. I think they can fight anyone and can carry out any type of mission

you see all kinds of Akatsuki pairs arguing with each other and threatening each other all the time. Deidara and Sasori, Deidara and Tobi, Hidan and Kakuzu being the glaring examples with how much they poke and prod at each other. but Kisame and Itachi were different. they got along really well during their time together in the Akatuski. they didn't bicker or argue or threaten each other. they vibed with each other, genuinely cared about each other, they loved each other like brothers. when Kisame found out that Itachi had actually died by Sasuke's hand, he didn't want to go back to the Akatuski because he didn't want anyone to replace Itachi. I know we're not meant to like the Akatsuki because "bad guys do bad things", but it was always a delight to see Kisame and Itachi. I always got solid vibes from them, even they're doing big bad things

I wonder why is it implied that Itachi possesses the strongest ninjutsu, hell sasuke's gokyaku was stronger. Itachi is strong simply because he's an intellectual and his skill is unmatched. His versatility is better than Kakashi, his taijutsu is on the same level as Guy, and he's the smartest ninja that existed under konoha. He even figured out how to counter Nagato(Pains) techniques under a minute- that took Jiraiya and the entire Konoha ages. The point is that Itachi is OP not because he's an Uchiha, but because he's an OP ninja that mastered every ninja skill, and happens to BE an Uchiha.

If im not completely mistaken itachis goukakyo is stronger than sasukes but he was strongly weakened by his terminal illness and his overuse of the mangekyo, remember the illness killed him in the fight so he was in addition on the brink of death
Sasuke's gokyaku was stronger only because Itachi was close to death at that moment not to mention he was casting Amaterasu at the same time, thus not allowing him to deliver his strongest Gokyaku.
I have today, I really appreciate Kisame as a character he was on the side of that he felt was right and just. And even to the end he stuck to his guns and didn't give up for a second and he managed to break the interrogation and killed himself out of loyalty. And he and Itachi were true friends as they both were partners and they knew honor and loyalty and fought for their beliefs. And they always had each other's backs. That's what I call a true friend.
The story telling, the depth of all the characters and not just the main protagonists and antagonists, the layering, and slow buildup of the story, the subtle reveals, the sheer artistic and mechanic portrayal of the combat, just at loss for words of this masterpiece. Glad I was able to watch it while it was happening and cannot wait to restart it from the very beginning soon one day.
They are simply belong to different specializations. You can't really just say "who is stronger". Kissame is your's typical "one man army" type. He can probably fight a small army of hight-level Shinobi by himself, and come out victorious. Or at list his skill-set would allow him to do that. But at the same time Kisame is fairly limited on one-on-one fight. He don't really have any game-breaking moves. No unstoppable Justus, or perfect defense. But he can carry on fighting for a LONG time. On the other hand Itachi IS a fighter that specialize on "one on one combat". He don't have a great chakra pool, and his stamina isn't that of a monster. Plus his most powerful jutsu's can only be used as a Tramp Cards, due to how taxing and damaging they are for him. In short Itachi is one of the strongest in "one on one" fight in the whole Naruto. But he can't show much against a large crowd of enemy's Shinobi. He simply don't have stamina or chakra that is necessary for such fights.
Pretty sure M.Sharigan he can create his Sasunoo and beat Kisame hands down. His 1 on1 is 2nd to no one yes but with him having Sasunoo, he has the destructive force to take out countries just Itachi wasnt a bad guy. He isnt going to kill without a reason, this fight alone shows that Itachi can beat Kisame without much effort because he instantly put him in a genjustu as soon as the fight started.
I truly love the dynamic between Itachi & Kisame. In fact, the partnership between them is bloody brilliant. I get the feeling that Itachi just likes to practice and tune his craft. While I feel like Kisame actually enjoys going head to head with him, despite knowing what Itachi is capable of. I think Itachi could easily kill Kisame. But they have a true friendship, all they have is each in this world. I even feel bad for Kisame later when he finds out from Zetsu that he’s dead. He’s bummed, but he also knew this was gunna happen. I loved these two dudes.

This is what should have happened thus making Itachi even more of a badass. They fight and Kisame seems to have the upper hand. Kisame goes in for the killing blow, but when at the last second itachi pops up behind him with a kunai to his neck and says something like "not even in an illusion can you ever hope to defeat me." Then we cut back to reality where it's shown that all the damage that kisame had done to itachi wasn't even happening to him. itachi coughs up blood then Kisame says something like " Amazing, even though Itachi is drastically sick he's still able pull off a powerful genjutsu like that I'd hate to fight him in his prime... he'd be unstoppable." Then Itachi despite not feeling 100% still wants to go and fight against Sasuke. Respect
When kisame died his kast thoughts were of itachi that shows a genuine bond respect and affection this was one last bout for goodtimes sake to kisame he genuinely trusted and respected Itachi

It is good to see and realized that these 2 really look out, respected and trusted each other. This was a fair and very loyal friendship. Kisame was even loyal until his las minute remembering Itachi when he was about to die.

a fun fact about itachi most didn't notice is that he has the unique ability to plant sleeper gengutsu conditions which activates when his rules are met.. for like the two foundation ninjas who tried to pursue and kill him, killed themselves.. itachi planted the rules and condition way way before when they first met... Itachi is a man of mystery.. he has so many things in his arsenal that we never saw him fight serious and use them.. he was just 21 years when he died..

Obito could probably not beat Itachi, Madara could beat Itachi. Shisui probably could beat Itachi. It's just that Itachi is almost like Shikamaru in a way, he's very intelligent. He can think ahead and strategize in battle, almost always being one step ahead

Damn, the differences between Itachi and the rest of the Uchihas are stunning. You always have this image about the Uchiha clan members as being blood thirsty and arrogant in the battle and then there’s Itachi, who is so contained and humble even though he is clearly OP and a capable shinobi, compared to most others. I think you're all missing the point, kisame did not want to let itachi go as he viewed him as a real brother, the only hes ever had. He fought with him as fighting is the only language he knows how to speak and he simply wanted to have a final simple intimate dialogue with Itachi.

Something else i find interesting about this duo is that Kisame had betrayed or killed basically every ally or friend he’s ever had except for Itachi. Even when Itachi had his own goals separate from the Akatsuki Kisame never stopped nor revealed him. In fact, he enables Itachi to do the things he does. Kisame didn’t fight Jiraiya, he didn’t attack the Leaf Village, and he never stopped him from checking on Sasuke.
Even this fight feels more like a sparring match than anything else. Kisame himself even halted the fight as things escalated because it’s as though this fight was more of a farewell than anything else. Kisame knew Itachi planned to die against Sasuke and, again, he didn’t stand in Itachi’s way. It’s clear that Itachi was the one person Kisame saw as both an equal and a friend. Kisame is a much deeper character than he appears at first glance and I like that about this series.

@@scole1448 of course; Itachi’s goal during that fight was never to kill Sasuke-it was to draw out Orochimaru who was absorbed into Sasuke’s body while simultaneously trying to direct Sasuke’s blame of the loss of his clan towards both himself (Itachi) and the clan itself due to its traditions of murder for power. His hope would be that Sasuke would take his eyes then return to the Leaf having blamed everything on Itachi and their cursed bloodline.
Itachi was also sick to the point of being on his deathbed and would have died had he faced Sasuke or not. When Itachi says that “it’s time” or “the time has come” he wasn’t talking about their fateful battle in the same way Sasuke would have. His final words to Sasuke were even “forgive me, Sasuke. There won’t be a next time” in reference to all the times he told Sasuke “maybe later” whenever Sasuke would ask to train with him. This is also why he died at the end of the fight, he didn’t die due to any injuries sustained during his battle with Sasuke, but he did want to make it seem so. Throughout the fight Zetsu even makes note of this by saying Itachi was getting hit by things he should have easily been able to avoid and he found it strange.
Itachi wouldn’t kill Sasuke even if he weren’t sick. Sasuke is the one person Itachi couldn’t ever being himself to kill and if he could have he would have done so during the night he killed the clan, but keeping Sasuke alive was the one condition Itachi gave Danzo in exchange for partaking in the massacre. In a fight to the death between the two Sasuke wins 10/10 times simply because Itachi wouldn’t land the killing blow.
Kisame stayed loyal to Itachi though until the end. This scene is just so sad.

Even though Itachi is badass, I think even Kisame knew that Itachi was going to die. If you think about that last line Kisame just said, it's seems very much so. Especially the way Kisame died. The reason why he suicided instead of actually keep fighting(with low chance of winning), he knew that he held to much information about Akatusuki in general, even about Itachi. So I think that Kisame knew very well how the outcome of this battle would end.

For me Itachi is one of the most Unique characters from the series. The thing that people underestimate about Itachi fights/encounters, isn't just his power, (it's mainly writters or Kishimoto's fault for making itachi seem or to look very powerful throughout the series) but how smart and intelligent he is during various situations, he never, ever underestimates his opponents because of his composure and his way of being, the level of thinking he's on honestly dwars most people in the series, with only people like Minato and Shikaku comparable with him. More precisly, Itachi isn't just an ordinary Shinobi also, he pretty much knows and he's also aware that all strong opponents have weaknesses (including himself), and he specializes in finding those "weaknesses" and exploiting them ("*Even the strongest of opponents always has a weakness*" - Uchiha Itachi) because he's that type of character who can exceed almost any expectations. The advantage of being an Uchiha, especially for Itachi and Madara, is that during an encounter against them, they always have a counter because of their unpredictable way of fighting factor, they don't run out of options or techniques, they almost always have a counter in their arsenal, even forbidden jutsus seems irrellevant against them, only a few Uchihas know a certain way to approach the situation with a certain and effective technique, that's why is hard/difficult to fight against them in my opinion. ☯️

Julian that’s a tough fight to judge. Sasori may not be susceptible to genjutsu due to his puppet body. That being said, if Itachi wasn’t holding back, his Amaterasu would burn through any shell he used. Puppet masters are not known for their taijutsu. I doubt Sasori could dodge in time to whip out his puppet scrolls.

Deidara and Sasori, Deidara and Tobi, Hidan and Kakuzu being the glaring examples with how much they poke and prod at each other. but Kisame and Itachi were different. they got along really well during their time together in the Akatuski. they didn't bicker or argue or threaten each other. they vibed with each other, genuinely cared about each other, they loved each other like brothers. when Kisame found out that Itachi had actually died by Sasuke's hand, he didn't want to go back to the Akatuski because he didn't want anyone to replace Itachi. I know we're not meant to like the Akatsuki because "bad guys do bad things", but it was always a delight to see Kisame and Itachi. I always got solid vibes from them, even they're doing big bad things

I wonder why is it implied that Itachi possesses the strongest ninjutsu, hell sasuke's gokyaku was stronger. Itachi is strong simply because he's an intellectual and his skill is unmatched. His versatility is better than Kakashi, his taijutsu is on the same level as Guy, and he's the smartest ninja that existed under konoha. He even figured out how to counter Nagato(Pains) techniques under a minute- that took Jiraiya and the entire Konoha ages. The point is that Itachi is OP not because he's an Uchiha, but because he's an OP ninja that mastered every ninja skill, and happens to BE an Uchiha.

I have today, I really appreciate Kisame as a character he was on the side of that he felt was right and just. And even to the end he stuck to his guns and didn't give up for a second and he managed to break the interrogation and killed himself out of loyalty. And he and Itachi were true friends as they both were partners and they knew honor and loyalty and fought for their beliefs. And they always had each other's backs. That's what I call a true friend.
The story telling, the depth of all the characters and not just the main protagonists and antagonists, the layering, and slow buildup of the story, the subtle reveals, the sheer artistic and mechanic portrayal of the combat, just at loss for words of this masterpiece. Glad I was able to watch it while it was happening and cannot wait to restart it from the very beginning soon one day.

They are simply belong to different specializations. You can't really just say "who is stronger".
Kissame is your's typical "one man army" type. He can probably fight a small army of hight-level Shinobi by himself, and come out victorious. Or at list his skill-set would allow him to do that. But at the same time Kisame is fairly limited on one-on-one fight. He don't really have any game-breaking moves. No unstoppable Justus, or perfect defense. On the other hand Itachi IS a fighter that specialize on "one on one combat". He don't have a great chakra pool, and his stamina isn't that of a monster. Plus his most powerful jutsu's can only be used as a Tramp Cards, due to how taxing and damaging they are for him. In short Itachi is one of the strongest in "one on one" fight in the whole Naruto. But he can't show much against a large crowd of enemy's Shinobi. He simply don't have stamina or chakra that is necessary for such fights.

Pretty sure M.Sharigan he can create his Sasunoo and beat Kisame hands down. His 1 on1 is 2nd to no one yes but with him having Sasunoo, he has the destructive force to take out countries just Itachi wasnt a bad guy. He isnt going to kill without a reason, this fight alone shows that Itachi can beat Kisame without much effort because he instantly put him in a genjustu as soon as the fight started.
I truly love the dynamic between Itachi & Kisame. In fact, the partnership between them is bloody brilliant. I get the feeling that Itachi just likes to practice and tune his craft. While I feel like Kisame actually enjoys going head to head with him, despite knowing what Itachi is capable of. I think Itachi could easily kill Kisame. But they have a true friendship, all they have is each in this world. I even feel bad for Kisame later when he finds out from Zetsu that he’s dead. He’s bummed, but he also knew this was gunna happen. I loved these two dudes.

This is what should have happened thus making Itachi even more of a badass. They fight and Kisame seems to have the upper hand. Kisame goes in for the killing blow, but when at the last second itachi pops up behind him with a kunai to his neck and says something like "not even in an illusion can you ever hope to defeat me." Then we cut back to reality where it's shown that all the damage that kisame had done to itachi wasn't even happening to him. itachi coughs up blood then Kisame says something like " Amazing, even though Itachi is drastically sick he's still able pull off a powerful genjutsu like that I'd hate to fight him in his prime... he'd be unstoppable." Then Itachi despite not feeling 100% still wants to go and fight against Sasuke. Respect

kinda saddening how Itachi has been mainly focused as a powerful genjutsu user in shippuden. he has very good taijutsu and ninjutsu, and his sign weaving is quicker than any shinobi.. he's also probably one of the most intelligent shinobi there is. put that all together, you get one hell of a beast.. it's quite sad that he's sort of the hero in the dark. he would've been a great hokage
The advantage of being an Uchiha, especially for Itachi and Madara, is that during an encounter against them, they always have a counter because of their unpredictable way of fighting factor, they don't run out of options or techniques, they almost always have a counter in their arsenal, even forbidden jutsus seems irrellevant against them, only a few Uchihas know a certain way to approach the situation with a certain and effective technique, that's why is hard/difficult to fight against them in my opinion. ☯️
