To put that into context, the average rally for elite women's doubles is about 10-11 seconds long with average 9 to 11 strokes. In the olympics 2016 in Rio the longest women's double rally per match was around 51 seconds long with 56 strokes. So playing for 211 strokes for over 3 minutes is utterly insane, remember this is the third set and they already played for about one hour
If you watched the video, she had only been playing drop shots the entire rally, she was too tired to ever smash. At that moment it would have been difficult to figure it out - but the Japanese players could have treated every return of hers as a drop shot.
Tears to my eyes ...to. the determination... the sweat the focus ... the stamina they beeng hold to.. and ..all thr for they own country ... ..huge respect to 4 players!!
@@xl000 Don’t speak on a topic you clearly know little to nothing about. Badminton is the fastest racket sport in the world, with intricate fast movements and anaerobic plymetric activity mixed in with aerobic fitness. Badminton players have been tested and show the same fitness levels as Olympic marathon runners, look up Marcus Ellis being tested on the Olympic UA-cam channel.
@@xl000 Its not about the weight of the racket or long runs. The micro movements, sudden changes in direction require a lot of agility. Plus the shots require incredible balance and footwork. Its hard. As someone who swam and played football, I can tell you playing three sets in an indoor stadium during winters is taxing. Specially at this level.
My thoughts too.. 😂 and I agree this is definitely special. Epic is the word. This should go into book of records. We salute both pairs for engaging in this wonderful rally that became talk of the town!
Ok, the rally started at 0:06 and ended at 3:23, so that's 211 shots for 197 seconds (3 min, 17 sec). That means on avg, each shot last about 0.93 sec. That means each one of these four players has to summon 100% mental and physical energy to react 211 times non-stop for 197 seconds... That's brutal. Respect to all four players.
This Malaysian pair is one of my favourite... WD pairs., Very fun to watch... Very animated.. as I have seen the match live so this time. For most of the i was watching the reaction of Malaysian coach rexy Manicy who is himself is an Olympic gold medalist.
not that it is not accessible but because westerners do not excel in this sport except denmark and UK. So this sport is under rated and many westerners are not keen and interested as the money prize isn't much. Westerners are bigger built, they are less likely to participate in this sport, so the media do not promote it. Doesn't matter if westerners aren't interested as long as Asians are able to dominate it. It doesn't cost much to build a badminton court. In malaysia many schools have badminton and basketball courts. It depends on the govt whether they are keen or not. There a cheaper version rackets used by students. You don't need a professional racket which is pricey as students can't afford to buy. You just create a passion to play badminton starting from young age. This game used to be a commonwealth game.
If you've played as a teenager, you also know how extremely taxing that must be. They already played 2 sets before this.. ridiculous endurance and stamina.
@sejed3 Indeed. Without exaggerating, I used to lose 2kg during games. All in perspiration. 😅😅. When you make that shuttle travel at speeds of 120km/h, and you play all-out it is a fantastic game. Keeping a play going like these women is exceptional. You have to be in top form.
These MAS ladies always seem to have long rallies which is surprising because Thinaah's smash is legit. These endless rallies usually devolve into both teams trying to outlast each other with clears and are boring. This was endless aggression and quality shots.
Those who never play badminton won't understand how much power it needs to put the shuttlecock from edge to edge of badminton field. And you still have to moving from edge to edge to safe the poin. This 3 minutes rally is fking crazy
