my Maserati does 185, joe walsh pops in my head when ever i hear maserati. always enjoy these videos, and interviews. much better than the tonight show, time to live cars jay, enjoy. we sure are letting us get a peep we other wise we would not get to see, hear, know etc. peace.
So you said 'he came all the way from France' to let us know about the book? Buy the book? Immediately did. Anything there is more to know about the SM and its mine. THANKS great series and keep on driving them and tel us about it!
Very much agreed. :) Some years ago I found this great website pretty much everything Citroen: www.citroenet.org.uk/index.html Here about the SM: www.citroenet.org.uk/passenger-cars/michelin/sm/sm-index.html www.citroenet.org.uk/prototypes/sm/sm-proto-01.html www.citroenet.org.uk/miscellaneous/hydraulics/hydraulics-2.html www.citroenet.org.uk/passenger-cars/michelin/sm/sm-12.html
Even at $150 US, he's probably only breaking even selling this book. It must have cost a fortune to make it. I really enjoy the book club episodes. Thanks Jay
It's nice to see someone shedding light on the illustrious history of the maserati brand, a marque once celebrated by many and considered a premier brand, arguably eclipsing the likes of Ferrari and Lamborghini. Unfortunately, the brand fell into bankruptcy and thus fell into relative obscurity compared to the likes of Ferrari that was quickly becoming the definitive brand of super car. To survive the firm changed hand multiple times, only further plummeting it into automotive no mans land.
And just a little fact, the tax in France on higher litre cars was so discriminatory it was found to be in breach of Article 110, which prohibits internal taxation on imports having an equivalent effect to customs duties. It can be seen in the case of Humblot and shows how much trouble that tax was for foreign car manufacturers! Never actually knew it affected Maserati!
Oh wow. The book's great and the price I have checked including the shipping required me to think. I know it worth it but the reality of the thickness of the wallet. I thought Amazon had it before seeing this but on their page, it says as "out of print". Too expensive for them to have in stock and that's understandable but certainly the book is available. Glad to see this footage and know the publisher and the book is available from them.
I'm Dutch and I can watch them, so you don't have to be a USA resident to watch the videos on his site. Probably they are blocked in your country. Good thing is that is seems that all the video's on the site are being transferred to UA-cam so you will eventually see everything.
Today, however, the maserati name has been resorted by ferrari and has emerged from the doldrums to take its rightful place atop the car mountain. Maserati's period of futility and dubious build quality should not blight its legacy of timeless cars. The book detailing maserati's history advances the cause to properly document maserati's history and preserve the its historical dignity.
Citroën never was a great success mainly due to the hydraulic system, even todays Citroëns prices drop like a stone as soon as they leave the forecourt. Rolls Royce also adopted the hydraulic system with the shadow and are now practically worthless as they are too expensive to repair.
I own a 74 SM, thanks Jay will buy this for sure...indeed rare Maserati under Citroen ownership years now revealed !!
is it a american or a european version
I'm definitely going to have to buy it! I love how they only give you enough information to leave you starving for more.
Jay, thank you for this segment and for promoting the historical side of motoring (as always).

Buying it, this is so amazing.
Actually, Robert Opron had been working in the US before authoring the 1968 restyling of the Citroën DS and the design of the SM.

Thanks for thisJay, I found my christmas present.
It's a Maserati Bora pretty easy to figure out since they only had four new models under Citroen.
Fantastic
Neat information.
Fantastic!

Maserati Sebring is one a beautiful car. Right up there with Mercedes Benz 300SL and Lamborghini 400GT, Jaguar E-type and Chevrolet Corvette StingRay.
he probably has a closet full of the same exact clothes for this video series he does. He's comfortable in denim
U can always count on Jay to have the best back drop for any car 🚗 on the planet 🤍🖤💜 Migwech from Toronto ❤️🇨🇦
Hey Jay - I'm glad you won't be doing the Tonight Show anymore. It will give you more time to do videos for this awesome channel!

Looks like a awesome book. When I win a lottery iI will definately buy a copy or two :)
Jay, could you possibly try to squeeze in a tour of your DS back there? I love that car.
8:54 and that include Fix It Again Tony ( or today Sergio M. )

5 stars
The book cover looks like my local phone book.
Jay your getting closer to a Detomaso video ...... I'm waiting.
What's the make/model of the black car tucked away in the corner? Next to the Citroen DS.
Panhard Levassor Dynamic 1936-40
I just checked Amazon.com for the price of this book. New or Used $1,474.00+. I will check the Eau Rouge Publishing.com for current pricing. Wow!
It's so bad only USA residence can watch your videos on your website. :((
Id love to read it, the price is just out of my budget...
He already did. Google for "jay leno's garage ds" and it should be the first one. He hasn't uploaded it to youtube yet.
Hey JLG web guys, this video is boogered (sorry for the technical term). At about four minutes the video freezes but the audio continues just fine.
I want those chairs!
by the way , Is this book available in French?
Just wondering, does Jay ever change his shirt or does he wash it every night or does he have a room full of it??? Just wondering???
is it available in French ?
Jay is like a cartoon character. Always wearing the same clothes.
Pricey book...
if you work in a shop your uniform guy can fit you up with the same uniform Jay wears.
HA! Because he CAN wear same wardrobe if he wants!! I'd like to have just some of the automotive memorabilia on his walls!

Only the French would tax you according to the size of the engine in your car. LOL
It is actually 1996 - I don't know why I had 1989 in mind.
It's a Maserati Bora, says so on the license plate...
have you seen family guy....... he has a closet full of the same clothes and has trouble picking one out
ssc tuatara?
it s a Maserati Bora
years 1971-78
It is ci-tro-enn, according to the French, ...and they should know ;-)
Canada can too.
bit on the pricy side...
I'm shocked that Jay has a citroen sm LMAO
At 90 Quid a pop, it's sadly at a Maserati, not Citroen price tag!
In sweden we can
He sounds French Canadian hehe
The breaks on that car are not good.......at all...!
jay is not gay .
Great book way to expensive :(
OK. And what is the need to make this statement?
Citroën never was a great success mainly due to the hydraulic system, even todays Citroëns prices drop like a stone as soon as they leave the forecourt. Rolls Royce also adopted the hydraulic system with the shadow and are now practically worthless as they are too expensive to repair.
Philip Nolson : non, l ' hydraulique a contribué au succès de CITROËN.
I'm sorri 400gt really
I'm saying it the American way? Really? I think it's the Italian Leno way, all good!!
Not necessarily shit, but like the Trabant always the same "shit" ;)
he has no wife....
ffs!...its sit-trown....not sit-tro-enn
Author looks like a heart attack is coming. Unhealthy. Yes I do know what I'm talking about.👍😛.
