  • Learn how to easily Setup, Rig and Animate a Simple Character using the Layer Parenting Tool in Adobe Animate CC.
    In this tutorial, I show you step by step how to rig a character (naming layers, converting layers to symbols, and adjusting rotation or pivot points), and how to animate a character using layer parenting and tweens (establishing parent structure, adding keyframes, applying classic tween, etc). At the end is an example project of a girl dancing using character rigging and the layer parenting tool.

    The first part (the arm animation) was so helpful as a preview. You are an excellent teacher.

    Hi, I have a question is there any way we can also move the hip layer?

  • @Me-si6js
    @Me-si6js 2 роки тому +3

    I'm having a problem where child layers don't move with their parent layer as though I never parented them in the first place. If you've got a solution, I'd love to hear it. Thanks! Other than that, great video!

    • @thisguydoesanimation
      @thisguydoesanimation  2 роки тому

      Sorry. I don't know the solution to this without seeing your project/timeline (even then I'm not sure I would know the fix). This has happened to me before as well, but I can't remember if I just started over with a new project, whether I gave up, or whether I figured it out?
      Some questions for yours...Is every parent/child is a symbol? What other tweens/things are happening within the animation that might have messed it up? Was it always like this, or did it happen part way through the process?

    • @Me-si6js
      @Me-si6js 2 роки тому

      @@thisguydoesanimation I re-opened Animate and for some reason I'm not having the problem anymore. I really have no idea why anything changed other than it just being some weird Adobe bug. As for when I was having the issue, here's some more information: Yes, every parent and child were all converted to symbols. If I created a new file and started over, I could replicate the problem right from the beginning. Having other things or tweens in the timeline didn't seem to affect it either, because the child layers would not interact with the parent when rotating or moving it even before adding anything like that. I'm gonna spend a while trying stuff out to see if I can replicate it to try and work out the cause of the problem. Thank you for responding!

    Hi! You said that the child will "move" or "rotate" along with the parent. Is there a way to make the children also "Scale" along with the parent?

    • @thisguydoesanimation
      @thisguydoesanimation  Рік тому +1

      Sort of. If all the layers/symbols (parents and children) are all contained within a master symbol. Then you can scale the master symbol. But it doesn't happen via parenting itself.
