Hey there! I didn’t quite understand how you got the value after taxes of your last corporate job. Isn’t it 2600 - 37,5% of 2600? How did the netto salary turned out to be around 2100? Thanks!!

It's hard to give a concrete answer for this as I don't know your lifestyle and what you typically spend on things like travel, food, entertainment & other hobbies. What I can say, however, is that for a studio or a 1-bedroom apartment you'll pay around 1300-1500 euros with bills included. In the Netherlands most people working for a company are payed according to a CAO, which is a Collective Work Agreement coupled to a structure of scaled wages (het loongebouw). This loongebouw gives the wages for different jobs, from the receptionist, cleaning lady to the sous-chef of the financial department. Executives and the echelon beneath that mostly have job agreements on a personal basis. This means that your job probably is classified into a certain scale depending of several things as skills, responsibility etc. If you find that you deserve more pay than your co workers you have to ask if you are classified in the right scale. Within the scale there is normally also a dependence of how many years you have this position, and if you are very young there is sometimes a youth scale too. The classification is a matter between the representatives of workers and the company, often the workers unions and the directors, off course with their specialists, as is the height of the wages. The latter is normaly every year a negotiation, but there are CAO's with a longer time span. Big companies have their own CAO, but smaller companies are represented in branches, like Metaal or Klein Metaal. The minister for labour can declare a CAO binding for all companies within a branch. This structure is set up to prevent discrimination and favouritism and to get a more honest pay and more security for the worker.
I'm lucky enough to be sharing rent and have it be on the lower end. But you have a valid point, because of the low salaries many young professionals share a house with 4-5 other people at around 600-650 euros/ month. So essentially they're just paying for a bedroom.
I am surprised by the amount here and wonder what neighborhood that was for you to pay so much :O I lived in several apartments in Rotterdam and I paid from €600 up to €1000, the first was a small studio bedroom with shared kitchen and the later was a full apartment with 2-3 rooms and around 70+ square meter of space. In the less central neighborhoods of Rotterdam, you can have a full house with upstairs, downstairs and possibly a small garden for €1200+.
@@astra_m00n there you go, these are already quite expensive. These days small studio with a tiny bedroom and your own kitchen & bathroom will easily cost 750 euros. Especially if the place is "newly renovated". I really don't think you can have a full house for 1200 euros all inclusive unless you're living waaaay waay outside the metro line.
It depends on what type of work you are doing and there is no such thing as 50H/week work. Work week is a maximum of 40 hours and the rest is considered overtime. Overtime is paid more depending on the company that hired you.
Hello. So good to have these videos so I can compare the costs of living in Dublin vs. Amsterdam. I do have a couple of questions if you do not mind helping me out. I have already dig my fingers into rental websites and the rent for the living space is definitely much better than in Dublin. Let me give you an example: the studio apartment we had (the kitchen was only separated, bathroom was so tiny and I am a tall person) was 1200 euros per month with the heating and Internet included. Now to my question: how is the heating? To simplify, in Dublin if you have central heating, it will go in the morning approx from 7-9 am and it will again start at 6-9 pm. In the meantime, you have to have a decent heater that as you can tell, will build up your eletricity. I just want to know what I possibly will need to invest before deciding to move to the Netherlands. What about the bins (general waste)? Do you have bins provided outside the building or you have to provide your own bins, bags with stickers for collection? Thank you for your time and effort. Before I even decide to go apartment hunting, it will be good to know these details as this is a hidden cost here in Dublin. Currently, we are paying 1225 euros for a one-bedroom apartment with only heating and bins included in the price.
Some people are eligible for social housing and they can get subsidies but these are very limited. As for the rest, most of the young people aged 20-30 live in shared homes with 3-5 other people. Essentially they rent a "room" in a small shared house. For example, I have a friend nearly 30 and she's still living in shared university accommodation. For the ones who're couples, and both people are working, they are able to effort higher rents which easily start from 1200-1300/ month and go up depending on city & location. It's very difficult to find a single person studio apartment under 750-800 euros (on a good day). The rent for shared house "rooms" start from 500-550 euros.

It depends on what type of work you are doing and there is no such thing as 50H/week work. Work week is a maximum of 40 hours and the rest is considered overtime. Overtime is paid more depending on the company that hired you.
with a great quality of life and great people, less stress the amount of money you need can be less.
The quality of life can be certainly better in some aspects, but of course there are pros and cons to be mindful of as well.
as finance graduate, I find the salaries in the Netherlands much lowerrr from where I came from
Where you came from?

I also want to move out from Dublin… have you made it to NL?
OK...but something doesn't add up. The rents are very high in the Netherlands....how do people pay rent on less than 2000 euros a month?
I'm applying to Marketing courses and hope to work after in the Netherlands. I can't seem find any information about what the salaries are like for graduates in the marketing or business industry. I would greatly appreciate any information or help here!
Hey there, good to keep in mind many marketing positions want you to speak both fluent Dutch and English. The starting marketing salaries are around 2000 euros before tax. I hope this helps!
@@MakingitinHolland Thank you so much! It's hard to find any videos talking about creative fields , most only discuss engineering or medicine. I think it'll be super helpful if you make a pt 2 . I love your videos btw, keep it up! ❤️
@@cpppp4128 Noted! I'll make sure to make more detailed videos about this topic. Thank you so much for being part of the Make it Fam. Sending a virtual hug. ❤️
