Kind of weird how Jackie Jr just executed Sunshine like that. I know sunshine was breaking balls and being annoying but was kind of crazy to put four straight in his chest when the robbery was going pretty smoothly up to that point. Then again, he did almost drown in an inch of water.
Sunshine's choice to deliberately antagonize people with guns pointed at him by quoting one of the most over quoted things in English letters is...interesting.

Years ago I knew a girl in Bensonhurst Brooklyn whose dad was like Sunshine. The mob essentially set him up with a "no work job" but his real job was to run card games which he did about three nights a week. The job was a union job where he was a ckecker on the docks, it paid well, had benefits and a pension. For that job all he had to do was clock in and someone else clocked him out and the rest of his days were free. His work with the mob was strictly dealing card games. He didn't get involved in any type of enforcement actions or any rough stuff. He grew up with a bunch of mobsters that's how he fell into it. What's funny Is his daughter described it like it was no big deal to where everybody did it. This was back in the late '80s. Ironically, he never got to enjoy that pension from the no work job. He dropped dead suddenly one night of a heart attack in his early '50s. He was overweight, drank like a fish and smoked like a train.
Sunshine, played by legendary director Paul Mazursky (Down and Out in Beverly Hills) was the crew's #1 dealer. Killing him alone, was worthy of Jackie Jr getting the death penalty by Tony.

'Sunshine' is played, of course, by the great film director, Paul Mazursky, who began his career as an actor. To see a wonderful, early, autobiographical film of his (which also features young Christopher Walken and a great ensemble cast) in which a character based on him is played by the late, great Lenny Baker, see 'Next Stop, Greenwich Village'. It's about a young man trying to escape his suffocating family to go to Manhattan and become an actor. It's terrific.
