This is helpful I hit 19’2 this season for freshman year but recently my Jumps have been not nearly on par with what I’ve jumped so hopefully I can try this and it’ll get me jumping to what I have or even further
I got 1st in my meet today, I jumped 18’1 but I feel like its still worth improving. I completely forgot my form over the last year and winged this meet, since I only train to run.
Thank you for this video! It’s really helpful. I’m a freshman in high school, and have never done track before. I can only jump 12 feet, and want to be able to jump 16 by the end of the summer. I want to jump further than my older brother😜I’ll try these tips out tomorrow, and see how far I go!
Develop good knee drive. Work on improving your approach, this will help you generate more speed and power. Bounding drills will also help as well as developing explosive power with your legs. Remember, you don't get any points for going high in the long jump, you want to make sure that height translates into distance.
I'm from Brazil and I'm looking at tips here because there aren't many tips here in Brazil and equipment with speed shoes is absurdly expensive so I hope to learn as much as possible from people abroad
I’m a freshmen girl and my PR is 14’9”! Realllyyy trying to get into 15 or 16 because a senior girl at my school is going to college to do long jump. (Her pr is abt 16)
That's an impressive PR, congratulations! To break into the 15' or even 16' mark, focus on refining your technique, especially your approach (proper sprinting mechanics), takeoff, and landing. Remember, consistency in practice and a positive mindset are key. Keep pushing your limits, and you might find yourself not only reaching but surpassing your goals. Keep up the great work!
I won my interschool with 16.75 ft I’m 11 and wondering how to improve my training and jumps in competitions so I can hopefully qualify for the Australian nationals
Yesterday, it was my district competition where i won Gold Medal, by jumping 14'2. I'm 15 years old and i have qualified for the state level competition. How can i improve ?
Congrats on winning gold and qualifying for state! To improve, focus on developing speed and control during the approach, work on an explosive takeoff by driving your knee up (and keeping your head and chin up), and practice landings to maximize your distance. Here is a playlist that should help ua-cam.com/play/PLEGZYR6mCoYU5QDz20IRVI53E42zQkQSM.html Keep pushing, and good luck at state!
That’s awesome to hear! At eleven years old, you’re already off to a great start with a 9ft jump-well done! Keep practicing and learning, and you’ll see even more improvement. Keep jumping, stay determined, and most importantly, have fun with it!
It really depends on why you are reaching. You can certainly try moving up the mark and seeing if that helps. You can also work on with shorter approaches in practice or things like box drills.
I'm supposed to jump 6.20m to get a perfect grade and I have never ever done long jump in my life. I feel like my trainer is not that good, I don't know what to do

Awesome, thank you!
