Talk about Splinter
I always like your videos it really brings back memories of all my tmnt moments and to be honest I like the original 1990 shredder suit but the 2016 shredder suit idk it brought my childhood back so yes that’s my opinion but always make good videos man
@THE OLD TURTLE DEN: Stop pissing and moaning like a little girl. Both look EQUALLY good.💯
*modified, not changed.
Hi I didn't know about you. I'm glad you have this I'll be keep up with you. I love tmnt I'm i was born in 89 so I started at the best time. And yes no tmnt movie will ever compare to the 1990s movie
Give him a break; he's literally making a costume out of what he can find at the dump.
Those are in cannon excuses not executive set and costume designer excuses
Narley Marlee I don’t get it
Trapking SWAG meaning they actually creators of the suit on the set the people behind the movie didn’t take the time to put as much detail into the suit than they should have
Yess it’s makes since for the suit to have to be made from
Found material but it’s doesn’t mean it should be lazily made by costume designer on a big budget movie set
But he's not they have costume designers on movies he didn't really make his own uniform at a junkyard.
Yeah it was from a junk yard
You simply cannot beat the first Shredder. His intro still stands out as one of the best ways to introduce a villain. That walk, that stare, that score, that speech. Perfection. I remember being 9 years old watching this in the theaters and my jaw was on the damn floor, I was scared, impressed and speechless all at the same time. This feeling still holds up watching it all these years later.
Did u see the deleted scene to his introduction he sits down why 4 teens wit weapons attack and he win while sitting down
@@troywilliams1531 yep I did see that!!
I think overall, the fact that the sequel has a number of daylight scenes of shredder harms his threat level. He was no longer mysterious. Instead of making announcements or torture scenes, you see him in a more human managerial role, and so he becomes a human threat rather than a force of nature
In the sequel, Shredder needed a new helmet made quickly and probably only had materials laying around the junkyard to make one with.
I was gonna say the same, He was trash compacted. and dumped off for dead, his helmet got F**KED
I was just saying to myself “god I hope someone else made this comment”. Haha. I was getting a little frustrated watching this video. The reason 91” shredder looked like that was cause he made a new suit from SCRAPS. Ya know from the SCRAP YARD they now live in!
All the post it notes are old brass brackets. Used to cover up the breaks in his helmet. You can see the old design beneath them. The top blade was bent to shit so they welded saw pieces together. I think it’s really a creative way to do the suit now that shredder and the foot are broke. In fact. I’m kinda just over people dumping on the sequel. Sure it’s a little silly but it’s a kids movie. And they went to some crazy levels that no one goes to anymore. As sequels go it’s really not the worst at all.
You may be right about that but the design still sucks. The whole saw blade thing is silly. Even nine year old me was dissapointed with the look compared to the version from the first movie.
I agree! And that is why I was ok with it... they needed to used whatever they had to put it back together :)
They weren't going for realism. April's building got trashed in the first film and they were settled in a new apartment before Shredder even got to the trash depot.
Yeah, the 1990 Shredder is my favorite movie version so far, and I'm guessing it won't be topped.
Nothing in this movie will ever be top
ua-cam.com/video/bEcfgjWm47s/v-deo.html
The Shredder should be in MK11. Original Face Plate Ninja.
He won't most likely
nah
I wouldn't say MK11, but maybe if they ever make Injustice 3 they could add him since the Turtles were in Injustice 2.
@@GCJACK83 I'd rather Violent Ninja Shredder who murders people from the Comic Books. I say MK houses his skill set better.
That would be badass!
"You fight well in the old style, but you caused me enough trouble, now you face the Shredder."
"The Shredder?"
"Aw. Maybe all that hardware's for making coleslaw."
"weapons.....now!!"
Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah (thud)
Million likes for this line here. The shredder complimenting the turtles on their old style fighting skills, while also enlightening them that they are at the end of the line.
Ahh the rat, so it has a name? It had a name.
Yep, I totally agree with you.
The 1990 movie Shredder is my absolute favourite version. The design is pretty much perfect. And certainly hope that any future movie will draw inspiration from this and similiar designs.
Yes 1990 version is the best. Michael bays robot transformer version in 2014 remake was an absolute joke. Almost like he was purposely making fun of the shredder.
@@ninjaturtlemaster24 micheal bay was the producer. If you watch interviews, he only helped out with the camera angels, and some action shots. None of the designs were his idea.
Huh? Shredder looked badass in the 2014 one
@@qwertyzillaofficial2969 the only good thing about the 2014 Shredder, was the actor portraying him. His voice was great, and one of the better Shredder voices we've had.
1990 Shredder: complete badass.
Any other Shredder: happy meal toy.
not really
2003 Shredder: also a complete badass
Tmnt 2003 is also complete badass, 2012 is alright but not as badass
1990 and 2012 are my favorites
TMNT 2003 is the second best Turtles movie..
one thing to note and I was hoping you'd point it out, in Secrets of the Ooze they are confined to the salvage yard and did not have their same connections and resources so they had to basically MacGyver his helmet together which is totally reflected in his design which I kind of liked. The 1990 film is by far and away 100 times superior but I did like that aspect of Ooze for his design.
Brandon Brunner yeah that's what I thought too. They no longer have the same vast criminal empire from the 90 film, and likely have little to no money for anything. With little money, Shredder probably couldn't have another tailor made costume (it's more likely the costume designer just did a different kind of job than the 90 film)
In this scene one of the foot soldiers say " we all knew the junkyard was our fallback spot." Meaning if something happens or a large portion of the Foot gets arrested, they got to meet up at the junkyard.
It looked rushed and silly
ua-cam.com/video/bEcfgjWm47s/v-deo.html
@@libraryham Yeah. Hence why it was basically a saw. Or looked like it.
Shredder in the first movie is better because it kinda honors and resembles the mirage comic which makes it a good shredder design
like Michael Keaton's Batman, the 1990 tmnt movie defined the standard for all others tmnt movies to measure up to in regards to look of characters and tone of the movie.
EXACTLY!
Sentiments exactly made this movie awesome just like the Tim Burton's 1989 Batman this movie was absolutely beautiful the Ninja Turtles shredder was the ultimate badass fight at the end at the music just set the tone perfectly everything was perfect. This movie and I don't know why Hollywood is bad at making movies today it's not just Ninja Turtle movies it's movies in general listen to too many fans request and trying to cater to too many people in the movies this is why movies are complete failures listen to fans is good listen to too many fans while we see what happens thank you for making up this channel I love this anime and the original Ninja Turtles movie was fun happy holidays everyone and no spike in the eggnog or fruit punch at your party just kidding😋
ua-cam.com/video/bEcfgjWm47s/v-deo.html
That "I Challenge" scene scared the crap out of me when I was a kid. ha ha ha
While the 1991 version is inferior, it did bring my favorite shredder moment... BABIES. AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH
I wonder what the Foot was thinking when he ran out yelling that.
That part sucks. Secret of the Ooze had its moments but overall it sucks compared to the original masterpiece.
Despite some gripes that largely stem from the soccer moms who complained and they toned it down (plus budget concerns and krang popularity to reveal prof. jordan perry as an utrom), I think Shredder's angle had to change in the sequel for it to work. So while the whole thing is inferior to the 1990 film, he is more about directly getting revenge-whatever it takes-then his empire and thus his outfit, the foot taking over more after the fall from the first. I always figure the remaining foot clan are just the loyalists mostly, even though they do look for new recruits regardless. It still would've taken a whole other movie to rebuild that assuming the turtles didn't annihilate it by then.
@stevensteviepryde5888 they probably thought he got a girl pregnant
Shredder from first film - intimidating, incredible presence.
Shredder from second film - irritated uncle that could kick your ass and who complained alot
Me: The original April was waaaaay Hotter! 😎
She complained too much
Nah Paige Turco was way hotter.
I dissagree
Judith Hoag is the best live-action April.
She fit the role so much better.
I also liked how they meshed the news reporter part of her into nodding to her antique shop to the comics.
When she got replaced I found it annoying. Especially because sometimes her hair is longer and she looked more like Judith but literally in the same scenes like a cut she suddenly has shorter hair.
Then in the third one she is the biggest joke and it got really old after the dimoye had her tape player destroyed, and she doesn't even seem like april at all at that point, like she was a totally different character.
You are nuts...Paige Turco way prettier than Judith Hoag
Obviously the 1990 movie adaption is the best. Both the Turtles and Shredder looked awesome
ua-cam.com/video/bEcfgjWm47s/v-deo.html
He only had stuff from a junkyard to work with. You gotta give him credit for looking his best under the circumstances. Besides, I feel like it represents the fall he took after the Turtles defeated him.
Edit: ok so the Turtles were not the ones who beat Shredder, it was technically splinter as well as Saki's own pride blinding him
He was bad ass. Then when he swallows the ooze he really became awesome.
Totally, his look was him working with what he had after Splinter tossed him up.
Splinter beat him.
ua-cam.com/video/bEcfgjWm47s/v-deo.html
The turtles didn't beat him Splinter did
TMNT 2 was good in my opinion. but the 1990 was the best.
They had good ideas....a rocksteady and bebop variation, super shredder, etc.....
But they often wasted such opportunities by making it cheesy and undercooked.
Yeah tmnt 2 was good fun but the first was so much cooler
@@coreymartin3218 They didn't have a Rocksteady or Bebop, despite how much fans want to call them that.
1990 still the best TMNT movie with best looking Turtles and Shredder.
I think they purposely made the second helmet look janky....I always thought he made it from materials he found in the junkyard
Facts lol
expendablefootclansoldier ....always thought the same...it was purposely done as a junkyard look
ua-cam.com/video/bEcfgjWm47s/v-deo.html
@@richardmbahuchon9314 STOP SPAMMING.
That rooftop scene was so fucking awesome in the first movie I could watch that scene over and over. Plus the score in the first movie whenever Shredder came in the scenes were dope as hell too.
I loved these movies and WCW and didn't know Kevin Nash (Diesel) was the Super Shredder until I was an adult. Blew my mind!!!!
John Garcia yeah same here I like Kevin Nash more in wwf days but he did in more in wcw
The shoulder spikes looked more intimidating in the 1st film too!!
It's the big added shoulder pads, I think
One of the best villain intros in cinema.
You got that fucking right, man! And the music....*shudders*
ua-cam.com/video/bEcfgjWm47s/v-deo.html
I think they used the same damaged helmet from the first movie and since they're in a junk yard they used what they had to bandage up the original helmet. That's my take on it 🐢
yes they show a scene him working on the helmet
The 1990 movie is my favorite representation of TMNT period. The turtles, April, Casey, Shredder, the Foot, the whole vibe. It's better than the source material, and has never been topped.
Yeah 1990 TMNT is easily the best movie of the entire franchise.
I think alot of your gripes can be explained away by saying its ment to be more thrown together and repaired from what was left and scraps like the foot can is rebuilding after being demolished in the first. True or not I dont know but that's how I see it
The scene where the henchman slowly unwrapped his cape on each side was always such a satisfying scene for me
Yes. The 90 shredder is top notch. I cant wait for my quarter scale should be hitting the retailer's very soon!!
Neca has made a 4 pack '7 inch' version. Its shredder, splinter and two foot soldiers. To be released this year at SDCC :) Will be ordering...
@@ninjaturtlemaster24 You can get the gamestop single shredder this coming April.
@@CJTranceAddiction thanks. Will do.
The gamestop ones are in uk now
@@ninjaturtlemaster24 Nice! Yeah, I just picked up all 4 turtles. Shredder will be next but I REALLY want the Splinter. And I hope they make a Casey Jones. That'd be sick!
I always thought the helmet in the sequel was intentionally made to look crappy to show how far the foot had fallen and the inferior materials he had on hand to repair it.
TMMT simple formula they need to follow.
The 90s.
Hair, costumes, music, martial arts, sarcasm, extreme sports, science, leadership, family. Essentially die hard, terminator, Rambo meets TMNT.
I agree. The shredder in the first film was a great villian. He was actually menacing.
As a kid the second outfit reminded me of Metal Man from Mega Man 2. The first costume got it right, the classic example of getting styling right the first time.
Man, hell yeah the 1990 Shredder is the best. He was the most threatening and serious live action version of the character. The rooftop fight was classic.
The fight choreographer was Pat Johnson, a renowned martial artist who was friends with bruce lee, worked on his films also did karate kid films. Now we know why those films had great action. Not to mention the first turtles movie was backed by 'Golden harvest' which made jackie chan and jet li films. :D
Hands down best version of The Shredder, they should make a game based on the 90's TMNT.
Not a bad idea! If they did like how they did the Ghostbusters game from a couple years back it would be bad ass!
As some other people have said, I believe Shredder's second helmet was purposefully not as polished as the first one because it was made from the scrap metal in the junkyard, which was all that was available to him at that time. This was an illustration of how the Foot Clan no longer had all the resources from the first film.
I also never noticed that he was still wearing his old outfit when we see him for the first time in the second film, and that he never wears it again after that. As you say, very nice attention to detail.
The Shredder was always my fave and the original movie design was awesome and a brilliant realisation of the comic book original.
Ok so I just rewatched the 1991 Turtles and it truly is the perfect Turtle film. I say that knowing that the crew working on that movie really gave a shit about the movie they were making.
The 1990 Shredder and Turtles are hands down the best versions of the characters of all time! And the new action figures of them from NECA are incredible! I wish they were all accessible.
SOTO shredder was made to look as if he had to remake his armor using junk from the junk yard. This could explain his helmet look changing
The first TMNT movie is still my favorite comic book movie ever.
Congrats on 10K subscribers. You deserve so many more and I hope you get them.
Yes the 1990 first TMNT movie was a masterpiece with character arcs and detail
"The Shredder" from the first Movie will always be the best one. I need to get his Necca Figure, awesome. ;-)
NASH!!!... was super Shredder
Yep Big Sexy Kevin Nash
Shredder tore his quad and that's what caused the ceiling to cave in.
N-W-O
1990 Shredder vs 1989 Batman! A crossover between those two movies would be an instant classic.
The Shredder look from the first movie will always remain unbeatable
One of the secrets of the ooze is that it can mutate metal as well. As seen with Super Shredder. I realized this was a legit thing when I saw 'Race with the Demon'
1990 Shredder: I am your father!
Darth Vader: I would like my royalty check now.
The second shredder from TMNT 2 looks more like the cartoon while the first is more like the comic book.
Shredder looked dope in TMNT #1.
That is another one of the reasons the first was classic. The attention to detail to all the costumes and turtles design.
As far as live action Shredders go, my favorite is definitely the 1990 movie version.
My least favorite live action version goes to 2014, but I think the costume in that movie would've worked better as a Super Shredder costume in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Out of the Shadows (but that's just my opinion).
I barely even remember what The Shredder was like in Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation, so I left him out for the time being.
If you were to ask me about Shredder overall (like all different continuities), it would tie between 1990 movie & the original Mirage comics.
The reason his outfit was so diy in part 2 was because the henchman who made his first outfit was either arrested at the end of the first film or was killed by shredder for shredder reasons. Tatsu made his second uniform, he likes purple... and baggy clothes :p
90 Shredder looks like something from the nightmare of a Turtles fan. Perfection. The sequel costume looks kinda tame, which truthfully, so did The Turtles. Blame it on the parents. Great video.
Man, I always thought the Shredder looked terrifying in the first movie. Best TMNT movie ever made. By the way love the channel man! Been a huge fan since the 80s!
Agreed! He looked like that evil leader like he was in the old comic books
Yes the 1990 Shredder is easily the best live action Shredder.
1990 Shredder is the DEFINITIVE version to me. I can't see how anyone can top that look snd style. Dark, sinister, and simply badass.
They made Secret of the Ooze more for children. None of the turtles use their weapons to fight in the second one. The only thing I remember from part 3 was them going back to ancient Japan 🤔
1990 Shredder without question is best/meanest iconic villain
I also find it funny that they dubbed both his and tatsus voices
Amen to the commenters saying what I was thinking....first off I love the new shredder outfit and color...if it were on a shirt or action figure I'd buy it quick! But yes his headquarters was a junkyard and as u can see in one of the scenes he pretty much made his own helmet design ...and the rest of the costume followed with what he could collect from the metal thrift store 😁
P.S love his iconic voice (. Darth Vader, Bane Dark Knight Rises)
this was a real awesome video.
okay so you got your self a subscriber.
Tmnt 1 is by far the best movie in the line and yes shredders overall style and look was killer. They never got that back
I may be a girl but i grew up in the 1980's and love the TMNT I never out grew them and never will to me they are very near and dear to my heart
What's being a girl got to do with it?
@@MrParkerman6 growing up i was picked on for liking guy stuff and girl stuff
Eh, kids.. What are you gonna do? Well, in the words of Mikey, “You’re a natural, sis..”
@@amberfoster9451 There is nothing wrong with you liking guy stuff. If people don't accept you for who you are, well it's their loss.
@@streetkombat6088 those are very strong and sweet words to say and i thank you for them
The Shredders look from the first and second movie will always be unbeatable. Perfect "update" from 1990 to 1991 and all after that is overkill
I LIKE THE OLD version OF THE SHADDER THAT HANDS DOWN YO .🤣
I read in an interview years ago that Eastman and Laird were very underwhelmed with the Shredder costume when they visited the Henson creature shop in London. When they saw footage of the actor in the costume with the special lighting they fell in love with it.
Congrats on 10k! Yes I like the 1990 version of Shredder better than the 1991 version.
One was the best but I remember how parents complained it was too violent and dark. Why in part 2 it was more kid friendly. Example the turtles weren’t using their weapons. Toka and Rezar went to hug Shredder calling him, mama. But the first, “You are here because the outside world rejects you.” When Shredder hits Splinter, “What are these freaks, how do they know how to fight like this?” Yeah, parents weren’t so crazy about it, oh well. 😔
His helmet changes bc he made his second helmet from salvaged parts from the junkyard bc his original got crushed in the first movie.
Now I do want a 1990 Shredder T Shirt.
Perhaps since his helmet was messed up from the first movie.. he made a new one.. out of scraps since they were at a junkyard 🤷♂️
The shredder looked so iconic and fearsome in the 1990 film which is my favorite of all the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films. Tonally it's the best and is much darker than future movies which I love. The look of turtles are amazing and nothing has come close to the standards that were set in the 1990 movie.
Will you ever talk about the IDW crossover comics of TMNT/Ghostbusters and TMNT/Ghostbusters 2?
I like both and I think each one suits the movie they appear on better. Of course the 1st one is cleaner. Its brand new and its supposed to be flawless. But in the second one it was all mangled out because of his fight with the turtles so he had to come up with another one and since they were in a junkyard he used junk as material and it shoes but still looks very cool in a different kind of way. Also, I like it in blue better.
I don't mind the "saw blades" on the second helmet, what bugs me is that the whole headpiece seems both placed higher up on the forehead, and also angled down over his eyes more. I've always that the actor must've had a hard time seeing past it.
to be fair, I think the whole point there was to cover up the fact it wasn't the same actor from the first film. You do see mouth movements but they noticeably don't show a full face shot on camera, and perhaps they were covering up the replacement probably had a bigger forehead? Personally I want to know why Shredder even had to be recast.
Made sense in the newer films given they were last second re-shoots but what could original shredder have been doing to not return?
@@oneandonlysound3453 Wait, but isn't the voice still the same? Was he dubbed over in the first movie? Or in this one? In both? Or is the actor just doing a phenomenal job at doing an impression?
on the topic of shredder, i have 2 cats and sometimes i tell them "go! play! have fun!" like he did to tokkah and rahzar. i'll even says "babies! they're babies! ooouugghhh!"
I have always LOVED the look of the 1990 Shredder! I wish they would release a replica of that helmet and face plate. If they ever do I will throw my money at the distributers without thinking twice about it.
Dude you're right about the shirt because I bought a Shredder fitted hat with his iconic helmet from 1990 and was told by the guy that after the Turtles resurfaced, the hat was a big sale.
His helmet was crushed with the garbage disposal, so he had to rebuilt one.
We could rename this channel " how fucking good is the first TMNT movie" and I would validate you. It's a miracle. It's the cluster of all my love for all the love that fallowed. It's here. It's undoubtedly dope.
Everytime I see clips from the 90's movie hairs stand up on the back of my neck it's such an awesome film just like the Shredder in it why change him his look was perfect!
ua-cam.com/video/bEcfgjWm47s/v-deo.html
They changed it because it made sense canonically.
I fuckin’ love this channel! Always putting out unique Turtle content like this. Keep up the great work!
"What happened to all the little cool details?" They got crushed by the
garbage truck at the end of the first movie. The whole point is that he
had to make a new outfit out of things they were able to procure from
the junkyard basically.
PS. You're at 25,000 subs now, congrats my friend, you are not alone.
I thought both shredder were cool. Way better than the newer version of today's Michael Bay film.
They basically turned shredder into the silver samurai for some reason
Yes, as a long time turtles fan myself. That old look of Shredder is way better, very top notch
I agree that the 1990 Shredder looks much better. However, as a kid, I really liked the his helmet with the "buzzsaw" blades in the 1991 movie better than the first film's helmet. I'm sure that was their target, appealing more to kids with the second film, but that doesn't always hold up as well.
My brother, who was much older than me, watched the TMNT movies with me back then and he always called Shredder "wicker head" because of his helmet in the 1990 movie and he became "shingle head" in the 1991 movie. 🤣
I still like the buzz saw look, though I will say that it could likely look better if it was reused and streamlined a bit.
@@polyesterfunk I agree! Stream lining that could make it look pretty wicked!
I never paid that much attention to it but I do remember that horrendous helmet in Secret Of The Ooze was an eyesore. And they should've just brought in Bebop and Rocksteady instead of Razar and Tokka.
Both of them are my favorite, and what’s the difference both shredders look ausom
As a kid I loved the upgrade of his uniform on the second turtles movie and now that you're pointing out the posted notes looking helmet design It sucks now I like the first one better🐢
No shit dude. He was in battle plus at the end he was Squish. Remember when Casey jones pill down the level.
The changes the ooze made to his costume will give you something to talk about haha. But I do agree and I didn’t remember his second costume looking so baggy.
There is only 1 TMNT movie and that is the 1990 film. Everything afterwards is not worth mentioning.
If they want to get TMNT right as a film series, they need to use the 1990 film as it’s Bible.
Yes the 1990 shredder was the best one by far! Everything from that Turtles movie was the best! That's from my childhood & I will always continue to back anything from my childhood! LK
I always thought the shredders cape what's a trash bag when I was younger
Glad to see I'm not the only one 😀
The first movie’s design is my favorite behind both the 2003 and 2012 cartoons. It’s so simple, yet sleek and intimidating.
Can you do another video like this but about Splinter or Karai
Good idea sushii
I look at it like this. The dump was their rally point so I’m assuming the purple uniform Shredder wore was a spare suit he had there. The helmet was probably done that way due to Super Shredder’s design having the “saw blade” look and couldn’t think of an excuse to “mutate” the helmet. As far as the size of the clothing I’d put that up to the costume designers!
