Hell, I went out of town for a week once with a turkey in my freezer. Turns out the refrigerator broke the first or second day I was gone and just the smell of that turkey being left for maybe a week was enough to make me sick. I wouldn't even want to imagine what some of those long abandoned refrigerators smell like. 🤢 Nope....
When you put rugs, boards, bags, news paper on the windows it’s 2 meanings 1. Keep out the light ( candle or flash light) Incase cops do patrol and second it lets other squatters know that house is taken and someone is living there.
Came to the comments to say just that. Also, I'm guessing a lot of those were rentals and the appliances came with the place, and were just left behind when the actual owner left the places. Some places have more stuff than others probably because of squatters and people who left that couldn't take much with them them.
Wow!! What an amazing place. I would like to know the full story behind this place. Some of those houses looked like the people left in a hurry...food in the fridge, clothes, tv, kids toys. Surely somebody watching this must know someone who lived here or maybe they lived here themselves. Great video, so many cool items left behind. Pity some of it has been destroyed by vandals.
I just discovered you a few days ago and have been binge watching your videos when I'm slow at work. I had just finished the one where Chris fell through the floor (which totally scared the crap out of me!) when I got notified about this new video. Awesome video today by the way!
So all these 30+ homes 7 streets I think you said- up and left their homes, cars and all their belongings furniture bikes boats? Everyone because the man was murdered? There has got to be more to this story- I wish I knew where it was to research it. Got to be a story to all this.
So I have been following a girls comments named Jessica Flores. She lived there from 2005-2013. The man wasn’t murdered by the mob. He was killed in a simple robbery over very little money. The land was then purchased by the Hasidic people who gave everyone a thirty day notice. They plan to build large housing for their people. So when everyone left they simply left what they didn’t want and weren’t going to clean after being kicked out.
I would love to fix up one of those homes! I may never in my life own a home but if I ever get that blessed I'll fight till my death to keep it! Amazing job guys! Your voice is so relaxing and respectful ♡ you have gained a new stalker..follower..i meant follower! 🧐
Great explore. Very creepy how the place was abandoned all at once. My guess, legal issues. Not sure if the story told in the beginning was true but the property must have been deeded to a single owner. When they died the tenants were “locked out”. Ownership was in dispute and the doors were literally nailed shut. With mob involvement it’s no wonder the tenants just walked away. I know you are a New York guy so I love when I spot that you are visiting a New York location, like when you flashed on ‘The Daily News’ in one shot.
"this place has probably been abandoned for decades" ah yes, my mom would always tell me stories about growing up with the wii and diary of a wimpy kid back in the 80s😌
From previous neighborhood experiences, people put rugs in the windows when the power is off in cold areas to keep drafts out for one and two to make meth or do drugs etc/squat.
I watch videos of abandoned homes/structures and it just makes me sad to think of the homeless out in the world. I know it would take money. But for those single parents, elderly, disabled this could be a dream come true. Thank you, great video.
You're doing a find job exploring these places. Followed by the research, editing and uploading the videos. As stated in the comments about the amount of respect you show while exploring these places. You're a fine, understanding, compassionate and very good young man. BTW, the abandoned red car in the video is a 1984 Chevrolet Camaro. In fact Chevrolet also made in the same body styled the Z28 Camaro and the Berlinette Camaro. Pontiac had the Firebird Trans Am. In 1977 Burt Reynolds drove one in the movie Smokey and the Bandit. These are now considered as classics vehicles. I'm surprised that someone hasn't taken it and restored it back to it's original style. Thank you for your hard work and dedication. I've hit the thumbs up and subscribed to your channel along with hitting the bell for notifications.
The general reason why no one would have taken it is mostly cause the circumstance that caused it to be there, its in rough shape and basically needs to be rebuilt from the ground up... so it would be a project, but since its abandoned no one would know who to call to buy it and well it may have been stolen and ditched there years ago... notice how it has no plates... the circumstance is simply too odd, for someone to spend money on the car only to then have it taken away when trying to register it because its in a stolen vehicle report.
Given the skylanders poster at 12:21 it was abandoned some time during or after October of 2011 and based on them saying they found calendars as late as 2012 it was definitely between then.
Awe the squatters home was heart wrenching. Like many people with not a lot of money the kids had lots of toys. And the sweet quotes and encouraging little illustrations.
I've decided this is the best exploration channel on youtube .... This gentleman, .... I should know his name by now, but I can't recall it .... but his presentation/vocal style is relaxed and pleasant ... and he researches all the places he explores very impressively ... most explorers do too much yelling
Porches and decks encouraging neighborliness. Squatters do so much damage. Left boat, took trailer. Doors screwed shut, entire neighborhood screwed. Human nature needs to reclaim that place. TKS. Stay united.

@@brandonbennett2371 yes, based off of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid book it’s probably been abandoned for 13 or 12 years (it came out in 2008), so like the late 2000s.
Yeah, the whole atmosphere was just weird. I've seen a lot of abandoned places, and the one thing they all have in common is vandalism. It's like it's so out of the way that it doesn't get a lot of attention.
Some die. There is an abandoned farm house i went to a couple times. The ladies who lived there died and apparently no family cared about the house. The house is still there with everything in it and coyotes live there now
Could be a lot of reasons: localised environmental hazard maybe, toxic spill or waste leak. The land could have been bought up for mineral rights say then not developed. The neighbourhood may have been illegally developed in the first place & the land was returned to the owner. Probably no way to know without knowing where it is. Some of those houses look as though they'd been squatted at some point or used for 'recreational purposes' from the covered windows.
I love your videos because you don't shake the camera around and make me motion sick like Steel City Storm does. I also love the places that you explore! I live in Upstate NY and I bought an abandoned house that's located in Otselic near Georgetown. I'd love to see this neighborhood one of these days. I don't break into houses or vandalize places either...unless they're about to have a rendezvous with a wrecking ball. It's highly unlikely that the Mafia made everybody leave. They probably left in a hurry because of the 2008 recession and their utilities were shut off. Mats stapled to the windows? Someone probably used a few of these homes as trap houses for drug deals. Weird how one street light was left on though. I want to explore with you guys one of these days. You seem very chill and down to earth.
This property would be a nice investment for someone, it has all the utility's ran. I know most of the existing houses would have to be demolished, but you could either rebuild or bring in trailer homes. Or you could set it up like an RV Park. I don't know where this place is, but around here theres alot of RV Parks scattered about. :~)
I just recently found your channel and I love your videos. There is something so chilling about totally abandoned places with everything left behind... as if a family was forced to leave from a threat, or maybe the family was tragically killed while out one day. What are some of your speculations on how this kind of thing happens? I'd just like to hear your POV!!
Someone is taking care of the grounds. That grass is not laying over nor is it, taller than your knees. Did hear a gunshot sound when dude was talking in beginning.
notice the lack of leaves on the trees and the way he is dressed, probably late winter/early spring so the grass wouldnt be tall yet.And the report of a gun shot can carry for miles in some locations.
This is very strange, the whole neighborhood just up and left? No there is much more to it than that. Makes one think of the missing. Also you are right about the homeless, empty homes, and yet half of this country sleep on the streets.
I was lucky to spend 24 hrs in Pitcher, OK before the homes were torn down. It was amazingly haunting and beautiful. You should check out Gary, IN. There's several abandoned neighborhoods there as well.
I've been to Gary multiple times throughout the last 3 years. Im interested in going back and filming given another chance. The crime rate is high there so I never stood around too long there specifically

The random “downed” powerlines may be from squatters that knew how to bootleg electricity. I grew up in the hood and ppl would get ladders and direct their own power to their homes when they got cut off. Dangerous but possible. Back in the day you could do it with cable too. 😂 may explain why some homes seem to have the windows blocked and more recently occupied, despite the obvious overgrowth and decay. Could be wrong though.
Thats not a power line... its a telecommunications cable... the power line would not have sheaving other it, just the bare wire, its most likely down because it got knocked loose by a tree falling over.
Excellent film! Very enjoyable > Loved seeing the real Bird* The rugs on the window's maybe to keep the heat in? Some of the homes might have been for daycare since there is a lot of toy's, the writing's on the walls + rug rat's & Scooby Doo!

I don t know where you are but in most states you can check the property tax records at the courthouse and see who owns the property and if the taxes are paid up to date. If the taxes are behind you may be able to buy the whole place for the back taxes. After you buy it you usually have to wait a certain amount of time for the owner to repurchase the property from you with interest on your money and if they don't you own it. You all need to watch for trip wires and boobies traps in and near those places because drug growers and illegal dealers sometimes use these areas. Some of them can be fatal to you !!! Be Careful. !!!!

Hmmm, didn't realize there was a "Squatters Handbook"

Hi Bonnie 😊 no handbook just unfortunately watching lots of documentary’s and being out of work.
Stay well.

Kinda sad to think that Camaro was probably the highlight of someone's life at one time. Now it's forgotten, left to rust and rot forever.
Got to be a story to all this.
i agree would love to know the back story
There is buddy and when the Time is right it will be told
@@patrickbutas2666 smh like u really know what fack is goin on.! 😅😂😂
Then they want to know the address and go over and mess it up
So I have been following a girls comments named Jessica Flores.
Every time I watch a abandoned house locality exploring video, I feel sad. This too saddened my heart!
Finally an explanation that makes sense, sounds very likely-
so wild how current the contents of the houses is freaky really to think they never came back and this cute lil village went to waste
"this place has probably been abandoned for decades" ah yes, my mom would always tell me stories about growing up with the wii and diary of a wimpy kid back in the 80s😌
Wii & Diary of a Wimpy Kid didn't come out until the 2000s.
@@LOVINHARRY That's the joke

From previous neighborhood experiences, people put rugs in the windows when the power is off in cold areas to keep drafts out for one and two to make meth or do drugs etc/squat.
not the answer i expected but... thanks for the interesting knowledge!
The house at 24:00 was the coolest, just imagining what it probably looked like back in perfect condition was probably so dope.
Yeah.....just imagine...wonder who's the owner around ....if only those living here before come back and cherish the moment ....may be their kids
“insufficient funds” will get you every-time! Stay cool 😎
I'll never complain about my $35 overdraft fees again!
Awe the squatters home was heart wrenching. Like many people with not a lot of money the kids had lots of toys. And the sweet quotes and encouraging little illustrations.
so sick. thank you for showing us this little part of history and lost memories.
I've decided this is the best exploration channel on youtube .... This gentleman, .... I should know his name by now, but I can't recall it .... but his presentation/vocal style is relaxed and pleasant ... and he researches all the places he explores very impressively ... most explorers do too much yelling
That Scooby Doo DVD case brings back some memories.
Porches and decks encouraging neighborliness. Squatters do so much damage. Left boat, took trailer. Doors screwed shut, entire neighborhood screwed. Human nature needs to reclaim that place. TKS. Stay united.
The Wii came out in October 2006, and there were Wii games there, so it can't have been abandoned more than 14 years ago.
That’s what I was thinking 😂😂 he at one point said “this place has probably been abandoned for decades, I would say” like... huh? The Wii did not come out DECADES ago 🤣 the Wii and the Diary of a Wimpy Kid are things I grew up with, and I’m 17. If those came out decades ago then I must be old haha
@@morgue.n444 you’re almost 2 decades old but no you’re right, unless some houses were abandoned before others this complex can only be about a decade old
@@brandonbennett2371 yes, based off of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid book it’s probably been abandoned for 13 or 12 years (it came out in 2008), so like the late 2000s.
plus scooby doo movie came out in 2002 so yeah i could not have been abandoned long ago
not even a decade yet as there is a skylanders poster around 12:15 and that didn’t release until october of 2011 so at most 9ish years ago
There HAS to be some sort of explanation for this. People don't just abandon their belongings and leave.
he doesn't say where this place is......we could have googled it and find out why the homes were abandoned.
Yeah, the whole atmosphere was just weird. I've seen a lot of abandoned places, and the one thing they all have in common is vandalism. It's like it's so out of the way that it doesn't get a lot of attention.
@@hmax1591 the boat has a N.Y. registration number, so that should help narrow it down some.
Some die. There is an abandoned farm house i went to a couple times. The ladies who lived there died and apparently no family cared about the house. The house is still there with everything in it and coyotes live there now
Could be a lot of reasons:
localised environmental hazard maybe, toxic spill or waste leak.
Makes you feel really old when they find wii gaming equipment in an abando 😆 so cool!! I have a thing with old suitcases, so great to see some!! 💗
This would make a great film location for an apocalyptic zombie movie.

I remember exploring places by my self before a UA-cam was a thing and I always had a feeling I was being watched
I dig your style man. You don't talk too much like a lot of the other explorers out there. I love how you stop and just film. Great work
What a shame these houses are just crumbling away! Love these finds!
You really have some gorgeous compositions when do "stills" of a subject. Great stuff.
Perfect place for a tiny home community…well, if there is a bu line nearby…
@@shelbeeray Whats a bu line ?
I just recently found your channel and I love your videos. There is something so chilling about totally abandoned places with everything left behind... as if a family was forced to leave from a threat, or maybe the family was tragically killed while out one day. What are some of your speculations on how this kind of thing happens? I'd just like to hear your POV!!
Each one of those places could be fixed up, cleaned and reopened and could be profitable.🙂👍
That was his homie knocking shit over not a gunshot
@@darkexploration7043 I live only a few hours away so I explore Gary quite often. I've never have had an issue with crime in Gary and I've been in some really sketchy areas. Maybe I've just been lucky.
@@alphiekc5923 It might be one of those instances where people overstate how dangerous areas are. I've heard that if you're driving through Gary, you shouldn't even come to a complete stop at the red lights.
I live about 15 mins from Gary in Portage, IN, and I can promise you it's not a place you wanna stay. all the cars fly through without stopping. with good reason.
Centralia PA is abondoned as well. Because of the coal mine fires that still burn underground to this day.
it's so overwhelming. Once people lived there, now it's just vanishing all by itself.
You do amazing work I was home
Sick with covid found your channel and I have watched so many videos very respectful content keep up the good work!
Great video ❤ Places like this makes me fascinated and sad at the same time...
I wonder what are the stories of those people who lived here and were in such a hurry that they even left their children's toys behind.
Excellent film! Very enjoyable > Loved seeing the real Bird*
The rugs on the window's maybe to keep the heat in? Some of the
homes might have been for daycare since there is a lot of toy's,
the writing's on the walls + rug rat's & Scooby Doo!

Wow some of those buildings you went into was pretty nice and you found some interesting things. Excellent find thanks for sharing can't wait for the next 😀 👍
Be Careful. !!!!
That place is a little windy but it looks like it is otherwise nice and quiet. 🙂👍
