    I was fooled , not expecting the PRS and the boxer in the mix. I happened to see the Fender online today for the first time. I thought it was an interesting option. Definitely checks boxes for some. I’m glad you reviewed it. Thank you

    If an instrument like this was available years ago, I could have saved myself a ton of worry when I had to leave my expensive Martin's, Gibson's, Larrivee's etc. on a stage between sets. While I was never far away, it's still a concern. This Fender seems to be a sweet guitar, comfortable and fairly decent sound (since only the guitar players in the audience would notice or care) and relatively inexpensive. Thanks for the challenge and review Jeremy!

    If I ever have the opportunity to buy one of these, I'd go for the Mahogany top version (probably Parlor and not Dreadnaught) because I generally prefer a mellower tone.

    I had #2 picked for a Baggs pickup right away. It works so well, and just gives you what you need. I have the Lyric in a lot of my instruments, and it just works for me. Some guys will need the undersaddle for louder shows but I’m happy with my style of live production.

    I loved 1, then 5 and 6...was surprised about the reveal. The box guitar didn't sound good to me at all, but the rest were pretty good, but that Guild man...that had a sweet sound. I liked the Fender as well.

    I didn't mean to cheat, but I accidentally saw your guitars disappear from behind you, so it totally ruined my perceptions of the best sounding guitar. I bought the Mahogany Dreadnaught about a month ago to play in a praise band and it is absolutely perfect for that. I can see how some elitist would not like it, but it is exactly what I needed. You are the first one that I heard mention the cool acoustic vintage tuners. Great video.

    I'm sure you love your Guild D-40. About 15 years ago, I was lucky enough to get my hands on a used Guild lefty (!) DV52, from Westerly RI. Love the warm tone and have it permanently tuned to drop d. It has a few lacquer cracks from being left out in the cold by the previous owner, but has had nothing but TLC ever since I've gotten my hands on it. Definitely one of my favorite guitars.

    I could pick out the boxwood and as you said, the jangly sound P22 electric. The Acoustisonic wasn't bad, but not for me or my voice.

    Thanks Jeremy. Thought provoking video. I watched it a few times, with pauses, to read all the content. I have a K&K in my D-18GE and sometimes cannot control the feedback, but in other venues I have no problem. I preferred 1, 2, and 7,but the Fender Highway would work for me and I will keep my eyes open to check out one when I can.

      #7 sounds more electric, but most of them sound good through their pickups, with 3 being the exception.

    • @johnwashburn3793
      @johnwashburn3793 6 місяців тому +1

      @pmscalisi #3 did sound weak at first, but had a moment. It is difficult to play mic ed (miked), so everything never sounds correct. The Fender is okay, but I am the old dad that Jeremy spoke of. I don't care.

  • @DieterWelzel

    Thanks for the video with the sound samples. Unfortunately it is not like blind folded. I could see, when the Highway was played. However the sound over pickup is really ok.
    Already I played two Highway Acoustics - a Parlor and a Dreadnought - in a music store in Germany and see the same pros and cons for this innovation. I missed a comparison between the four different Highway models and the acoustic sound for the player. And I was surprised how good the Piezo of the PRS sounds.

    Hey Jeremy... I really love my US crimson Tele acoustasonic... like you, I have some fab guitars, but can't put down the acoustasonic. So when the Highway series came out, I had to have one. Went for the parlor size spruce top... wonderful. If you're not liking the bright tones, I recommend you try the mahogany top version, a much darker subdued tone. 😎👍🏻

  • @RByrne
    @RByrne 6 місяців тому

    I like these, primarily the parlor size. They look funky, but would be a great couch or travel guitar.
    With the Acoustasonic Tele, i wouldnt buy a Players model over the MIA, but for a little parlor it wouldnt make a big difference to me if Im just using it for secondary purposes. I do wish they used their acoustic style headstock, though.

    That's a very interesting Fender guitar. I've never had a problem with the acoustasonic guitars, and I'm very curious about the highway model guitar. It seems a good guitar, one that should play well, and doesn't cost a fortune, so that's a good aspect. I don't know if I will pursue one, but it's certainly tempting.

    Nice video...I'm going to address your too much high end comment. It's easy to cut back on your high end - roll it back on your board or LR Baggs DI. The hard thing to do would be to add high end if there is little to begin with, and really, EQ is subjective.

    i thought the fender highway sounded great .....i personally own an acoustasonic stratocaster and it too sounds great .....i believe that in this day and age it makes more sense to bring a light nimble handling hybrid style guitar to gigs as opposed to a big bulky acoustic guitar ....no fuss no feedback and it can always be tweaked thru EQ to carve out the exact tone you want ...all the guitars sounded great but im choosing the fender for various reasons weight and tonal shaping abilities first and foremost

    There is nothing like a good tone wood and a good construction. And in my opinion the most pickups are not natural sounding. Im still struggling if i should put a pickup in mine. I own a lowden and it sounds to good to put crap in it. Anyway i can not understand why some great players like these crappie pickups. If you have a really great sounding guitar and you put a crappie ***** in that blows my mind. Until now i found only 2 pickups systems that are acceptable. For the rest I think nothing beats a good condenser mic. But it's not really handy on stage.

    Hi Jeremy, i was completely tricked by all of them, pretty confusing. This is more observation than criticism, but I've noticed a lot of guitar content channels often use the noun 'guys' when referring to players. I think women can feel a little excluded at times, especially in guitar shops. If they get a mention too, it can only be a positive thing. 👍

    • @JeremySheppard

    just thought that I should mention that "dad rock" is a little offensive, and "fender cant make acoustic guitars" is a pretty big comment. The K&K was not that good, on the blind test, and I own one.
