    missed opportunity to make the famicom cables longer, imo

    I agree with others that these are far too short to be compelling. What I've been doing is buying custom cable lengths from Digikey (15 feet usually), sleeving them in hollowed out paracord, and terminating them in couplings sourced from aliexpress. I do this for all corded cables for which plastic terminations can be sourced (NES, SNES, N64, PS1, PS2, Gamecube). It works great and puts me in control of length and color/design.

      Yeah honestly I would stick with the original cables, plastic cables are easier to clean than braided cables.

    Nice, but can we get a third option where we get new cables for the famicom with the JST connectors and the other end being a female NES port + new controller cables for the famicom controllers with the male NES port so one can make the Famicom controllers removable controllers like the USA version of the NES and the final version of the AV Famicom (Top loader) or to allow one to plug in an 8BitDo wireless receiver to use a wireless controllers on the famicom. ( Asking for a friend 😎 )

      You can plug two NES controllers into the expansion port via an adapter.

    • @wetsu7648
      @wetsu7648 Місяць тому

      @@Bakamoichigei yes indeed, but considering this is a video about redoing the non-removable wires for the controllers, a third option would be “nice to have” since most of the hard work of R&D has already been completed and would allow some folks to bypass the need for said expansion adapter all together. I have a copy of the expansion adapter myself, but looking on ebay and facebook marketplace and that adapter is becoming harder & harder to source these days.

    it would be really cool to see a Sega Genesis or Atari cable done in this style, great video btw, I think I would probably get the NES one really since I don't want to deal with short cables with my famicom

    • @noobguy57
      @noobguy57 Місяць тому +1

      it would be awesome if someone made replacement parts for the genesis cables, you pretty much have to get lucky and build a working controller with good membranes from the other ones

    • @sithwarrior
      @sithwarrior Місяць тому

      @@noobguy57 I think no one has touched the 3 buttons is because there are like 3 or 4 revisions with different D-pads or membranes. for now you can at least steal parts from RetroBit for Six buttons

    It's good to see this style of video pop up every once in a while. I'm not into live streams, really, so I tend to avoid watching those.

    I hope they do one of these eventually for the ps2. I don't know if this is anyone elses experience, but every time I see a ps2 controller on ebay or at my local game store, the wire always seems disgusting. Seems to me like ps2 cables frequently end up more kinked and coiled than any other console I own, so I think those controllers in particular would really benefit from some braided cables.

    How did the jack of the NES ones fit into the controller ports? I'm honestly curious because I bought 2 of those, but when the time came to plug them in my NES, they felt really really tight, to the point that I was afraid to break the controller ports of my NES. I ended up not using them.
    I might have been unlucky and gotten bad ones, but I'm curious to know if it's just the way they're made. I might have mine replaced by JT Studios if I just got bad ones.

    it's so unfortunate the _Nintendo FAMILY COMPUTER_ keeps on being disrespected, bastardized, relegated and inaccurately just being called Nintendo's Japanese NES or as the sharp's twinfamicom.
    Especially witnessing growing up on this era and experiencing the greatness of this iconic console here in Asia = the FAMILY COMPUTER

      @ sorry to sound passionate as i lived my childhood during the glory days of this iconic console in Asia and it's always being called the _FAMILY COMPUTER_ . It's clear from all the branding: the Family Computer disk system, the labels in majority of the games, the mini-console.
      It's only recent history that it became prevalent being relegated into sharp's twinfamicom.

    Cables??? In 2024!!??? Shouldn't we be using zero lag wireless by now? Or at least pushing for it. Cables...yack.

      This depends on your goals. I am modding my extra NES to look more medieval and it needs nice cables.
