FIRE ANTS vs. BLACK ANTS: Another Ant War
Вставка
- Опубліковано 26 тра 2023
- An ant war has broken out in my Ant Room, between my pet fire ant colony (Solenopsis geminata) named the Crimson Knights, and a wild crazy ant colony (Paratrechina longicornis). I watched the two ant colonies, who are actually competing species in the wild, battle over a jelly cup, and unraveled the mystery as to why the black crazy ants had decided to invade the territories of my fire ants in the first place. What I ended up discovering what pretty incredible! Ant love forever! This video was shot in 4K Ultra HD resolution.

hi
Species 555 colony gonna be another a great journey to follow. The black crazies definitely need a setup, that would be insane in a couple months to see the numbers.
Absolutely.
Agreed cant wait for it to be a succes.
It's a clever move to cover up the jelly cup with gravel.
A great reminder, that these tiny animals are not just a chaotic mess, they can build amazing strategies to survive.
They’re incredibly smart! They’re showing decision making capabilities, tool use, and of course coordination/team work, a complex language, etc.
it’s all so fascinating. the way life learns and adapts over time and through moments like these will never quit amazing me
indeed. they are annoying when invading but also so smart!
I think they executed a strategy by building a wall...
Ant battles? This is exactly what I mean when I'm talking about real YT content. Amazing setup, and then the climax!
Got to keep the Crazy Black Knights. You could do an upside down connolly and call it Crazy Town. They could live on the top and descend down for food and building material. This might have some observational advantages like keeping a black mat over the top of two sheets of glass. Allowing you to better observe the ants. You could also light it and provide building materials so you could see through the nest and see where rooms were and how they were changing.
AC is finally hitting his mad scientist era and keeping experimental super-ants.
he has a clan of crazies living in draculas basement, there are movies about this sort of thing
@@jamesdell9135 calling it.. keep the colony of crazies.. and name them the renfields

@@Spekor Hell yes!
AC tried keeping Pharoah ants in the past but released them later on so not the first time.
The Black Crazy Ants moved in because they knew you would look after them. They want to be UA-cam stars.
Just look how much they strive to cling on to an existence.
They deserve to live.
he is to cruel if he kills them
I agree with this. All they want is the love from us! Lets give them a proper home and a great time here on the channel!!
Yeah, i agree wholeheartedly.
he goes looking for queens but a colony legit came to him, let them live
I regret my comment earler, I like your idea
That "boiiiing" noise when you plugged the hole with cotton was absolutely perfect, I'm still giggling
I live in Nova Scotia, and after watching this channel (Across different accounts) for years, I finally managed to capture my first queen. (As I finally have the time and resources to start one) Funnily enough, it was rather easy, as a New York carpenter ant queen was casually walking down my main hallway. Hopefully with the knowledge that channel provided to me, I can grow this queen to it's fullest potential.
How’s it gone so far?
I say they shall remain in the antverse. You did not choose them, we the viewers did not choose them. They chose us. That indeed is a sign I say ;) . Also the more species the merrier. More choices for the new material ;)
Oh how the plot thickens. I love the direction of the chain of events.
Now that I think about it, I need you guys to refresh my memory. But wasn't it the crazy black ants colony that Mikey built built multi nest network in his old place? I mean main nest in antiverse room and smaller satellite nest in the kitchen? (I bet you Arejey was cringing and wanted to kill Mikey, but got a nice present for the sacrifice ;) ) Or was it different species colony? I will try to dig through the videos, but I am sort of sure it was the crazies. Maybe now with better space we could have bigger multi terrarium set up without the need of going into the kitchen ;)
But they're a native pest species. The little heart shaped fuzzies were worth keeping for sure.
@Jay Bomb i dont think that matters. Fiew ants are an invasidlve pest species and he loves keeping them.
@Catiku Cat I said native pest. They're literally everywhere like house flies lol.
The black crazy ants seem to be a fan of ant towers, so why not give them their own?
Cause he'd have to get the queen as well

Amazing work, sir. As many others said, I didn't plan on watching very much of this video, but your narrative and visuals were truly captivating, and I couldn't wait to hear each advancement of the adored Crimson Knights' story. 100% your efforts and skills -pour- out of your content.
It's a blessing to have had the privilege of viewing it! Thanks and thanks again.
I’ll be honest, I legit never saw myself getting invested so deeply in a bunch of random ants that some Canadian guy keeps in his room. I honestly think these crazy ants should be offered their own space to thrive. They’ve clearly taken interest in the neighborhood. Throw them in a full ant tower!

@AntsCanada , you haven't shared a video about the termite colony in for four months, we are curious about the developments.
Deep within the vampire ant tank, a hidden colony emerged from the shadows. Their audacious feats and relentless spirit captivated all who beheld them. With stolen stones and epic jelly battles, their legend grew. Now, their tale reaches its crescendo, for behold, the Shadow Raiders have arrived, their name resounding throughout the Antverse.
Ants using tools
i like that name for the black crazy ants! O_O
That's so cool
I love that name :D
Shadow Raider nice name for them gues we all agree on expanding the ant room familie :D
Something you maybe will like: fire ants are native here were I live (we call them 'formiga lava-pés', wich means "feet-wash ant, because you'd desire to do so if you step on their ant hill). When I was a kid, I sometimes break a few cracks in native ground termites hills, just to wait to observe some fire ants find it, run back to their colony and then bring an attacking horde to the termite's damaged hill. The termites also had their own warfare, and position huge groups of soldiers forming barriers around their workers who were fixing the broken walls. It was... fascinating.
One time, I just threw away in my yard a bunch of larvae of a certain native beetle who happens to infect the nut of a native little coconut fruit (Butia catarinenses), and I could watch fire antes doing the exact same attack pattern to them as they were a termite colony... but, unlike termites, they couldn't fight back.
Oh, and sometimes, another kinds of ants also discover the termite hill in vulnerable state, so in some time, there were three or more factions fighting: the termites with their barrier of soldiers around the workers hurring to close the crack, the fire ants horde trying to kill and take termites, and other(s) ant species also attacking the termites but also trying to kick the fire ants out.
Oh, and, of course: keep the black crazy ants.
Narive species has value. 😌
I feel like it'd be cool to see if you could get them to mix with your actual black crazy ant colony. Gradual exposure and integration
When the Crimson Knights get a massive set up I would love for it to be Volcano themed! Like with a massive Volcano in the center of the terrarium and a possible name for it could be “The Den of Ashes” but that’s just a suggestion I’m open to people coming up with better names in the comments. Love your content AC and your dedication!
Love it
Agreed

Im so glad im back watching your channel! Ive been watching for a long time on my old channel that got shut down 😞 and im so happy to be back i found myself smiling at how awesome your videos are! I always try to explain my compassion and empathy to people like this: i watch the ground where i walk so i dont step on any ants. Ants are awesome!! ANT LOVE FOREVER !!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for watching! #AntLoveForever
8:00 the ants knew or thought that you spreading sand meant that the enemy ant colony was too large and stop invading. That is extremely smart and interesting. This was a quite fascinating video!
When wild ants break into your home so they can live in your ant towers, you can say with absolute certainty that you've built something awesome. 😃
product review by the ants themselves, they preferred the tower over the outside xD though it is weird that they saw the bottom of the ant tower as the most suitable home
All they know is food here.
@@sleepymonsteraddict Well soo is my dog bowl, lol
put them in the freezer
The crazy black ants saw how well you look after all your ant colonies and they want to be a part of it. so I think you should keep them
I'd say another colony!
Would be interesting to see if the different colonies could co exist in a single (very large) enclosure.
They can wheaver ants
...
I remember watching your videos yeaaars ago and so great to see how far you and your ants have gone ❤️❤️
Omg sameeeeeee
Same! and all this time, I thought I was subbed but apparently not, I just kept coming back every few months like "I wonder how this dude's doing" lol
Which I suppose helped the alg. a tiny bit but ofc now I have hit the button properly XD
For the black crazy ants, the question is: can you even keep them? It looks like they are escape artists, leaving every terrarium at will.
I don't know what's more shocking, that an invasive colony of black crazy ants managed to set up it's main nest in the water filter of your dracula ant tower without you noticing until now, or the fact that you finally captured a queen of ant species #555?!!!😮😮!😮😮😮
I've been binge watching these videos for hours. Thanks for the great content!
Howdy ya'll from Alberta, Canada 🇨🇦
I can say with absolute certainty, that I have never heard anyone call an ant...adorable 😅
I am a nature nut myself, I love and photograph, and film wildlife when I notice something interesting, and ants are definitely interesting to watch, although I have no plans of starting my own pet ant farm, I'm fine to watch them outside, in their natural habit, Thank you for sharing your footage, Stay safe, Peace
You should keep the ants in their very own ant tower, as that would be cool to have a black crazy ant colony😊
yes
Damn, these ants are brave, messing with vampires and demons(fire ants), I feel like they deserve to be introduced to the antverse, if you wish
I didn't know that it's possible to laugh out loud at an "ant" video or any insect videos for that matter. Thanks man, this is very entertaining! 😂
Probably keeping them or dropping them off somewhere in the forest but preferably dig them a nice little starting hole
11:54 That one Black Crazy Ant really just walked right up to the jelly cup and just casually tried to drink with the Fire Ants as if it thought maybe they would think that it was one of them! 💀💀
Spy ant.
" THE JELLY CUP WAR " 😂
Whats really cool is how the black crazies took advantage of the ant tower opening and were scavaging nesting material from fire alley. Would say they are creative as well.
I know you made the vulcano, but wouldnt it just have been an idea to place the black crazy ants on the other side of Fire Alley? See if they can coexist, and if not, how it would unfold? Aren't they both starting (and thus small) colonies, so the odds were quite even right?....and it gives some extra insight in their behaviour right?
(Got to make sure they can't get out though, maybe brush the top of Fire Alley with that white stuff?)
Imagine someone made a show where there was one MASSIVE terrarium where multiple ant colony’s existed along with other insects and the queen of each colony along with the other prominent creatures had voice acting and it was just one tv series that would last for several seasons
That would be badass
Of course we should keep them!!! Those crazy little thieves have stolen my heart ❤ 😍
Now thats ant lover but u know something is kinda Sus if you know what im taliking about if you watch this channel for a while u will know
Hey! How are we?, Keep ‘em, if the whole colony is formed by this crazy brave ants, they deserve their own. So please give ‘em a chance!
Congrats for this wonderful channel, just amazing!
Best from Mexico. ❤
I thought you might find this interesting or even have an answer. I live in Central Florida, dealing with fire ants is constant but a few years ago an unknown variety of black ants moved in.They were everywhere, seemingly to wander over every surface by the thousands. They would be crossing sidewalks, driveways, grass and even your feet in droves. Many neighbors noticed the same thing and even though they didn't appear to bite, they were creeping out some residents. This continued for two years and I noticed during those years, no fire ant colonies appeared in our neighborhood but travel several blocks away and you could see the tell-tale mounds of vibrant fire ants. Now they appear to have moved on and we see fire ant colonies returning. I now am wondering if these are crazy ants, why were they successful in driving out the fire ants and why? Note: I no longer remember but I believe a lot of those black ants walked around with their rear abdomen held up.
You should get a Timelapse camera and set it up for events like this. Would have been fascinating to watch them build the barrier.
yes but the ants are quite small so a time lapse video would have been useless except for when they build

Yey, a fuzzy queen of hearts. So glad to have 555 as an addition to the family! Also, I never get tired of watching ants eating jelly cups. It is so cute and they remind me so much of calves, lambs and kids (baby goats so no one is confused) when they suckle from their mum and even more so when you bottle feed them. The excitement is just so similar to me and I love it.
The whole time I was watching this I felt so many ants crawling all over me
I got stung by fire ants down here in Louisiana. They hurt like a needle at first then the sting burns immediately forming a red mark. This mark turns into a blister in about 6 hours and itches like crazy
They are just doing ant things, so let them keep striving to do just that and give them a better home in the antiverse! They seem to desire digging medium, so maybe start them in a tower of their own and later move them to their own little world?
Also, woohoo!!! Species #555 will (hopefully) be a wonderful addition to this lovely ant world! And so cute!~
Am from Singapore, and that 555 seems familiar. They look native here too. They are slow moving, adorable and they do not bite us. So cute!
keep them ! They seem smart picking the barrier material .. and they don't seem too aggressive!! Would love to see where species 555 goes with a queen now :D
I think you should keep them and see how they react to different surroundings
We should keep them! They like the ant farm why not let them have one of their own. OMG I DIDNT FINISH WATCHING!!! QUEEN 555 WELCOME!!!! LET GET HER GOING STRONG AC FAM
There is the slippery stuff you put on the upper inside rim of terrariums to keep ants from escaping. Use the same stuff on the outside to make it difficult for crazy ants to get into the terrariums
As its currently June/Nuptial flight season for Carpenter ants here in Illinois -USA, I came home from work to find a queen on my doorstep! Surely I invited her in and now following in your footsteps, and starting my first ant colony ever! :) Ant love Forever?
Wow ! I just found this channel. I find any sort of nature wildlife interesting. So im a new sub 👍
Keep the ants and awesome news on the queen ant capture. Honestly your ant room does look a bit spacious 2 more colonies can't hurt that much.

My friend, I've watched you for years. Gave me something to look forward to coming home for a long time. Changed my view on ants as a whole and brought an entire world beneath our feet to my eyes. Amazing content, keep up the good work. You deserve your own documentary show, yk how to keep it interesting.
Amazing discovery! There is no way you can take such a hardy bunch of little settlers and just freeze them. They've come this far, give them a tower to grow, then maybe introduce a battle of some sort?? hahaha..
Why on earth have I become so invested in this channel????? You take me back to my childhood of putting ants in a jar with other insects to watch them fight. Keep it going. I hope the Black crazy ants have their own tower

I cannot remember, do you already have a colony of crazy ants? If yes, will crazy ants join colonies if they are in close proximity? If you don't, I don't know why you need our help, there is no way you would pass on a new colony that is already producing brood.
The yellow crazy ant colony died about 4 years ago now...
There is also the black knights in the other antiverse that we have heard nothing about yet
We know this channel. We know this community. There is practically no one here who would not say to keep the Crazies. And now you also get to be the proud owner of a colony of the species you discovered in your area. That's pretty cool.

Hey @AntsCanada, I'm planning to start a Carpenter Ant colony in a couple months (since they're native to Minnesota, and MN laws forbid the import of non-native ant species), currently I live in a studio apartment, and I want to make a custom enclosure for them. What medium will work for them, if any? This is the only thing I need an answer to at the moment, just so I can track down a supply of the stuff.
