Concrete Castle Joint Bed made with LEGO

- I used LEGO to make concrete castles joints for this DIY Bed project. Most of my castle making experiences involves Lego so when I wanted to try and make a castle joint bed I decided to go with the literal and obvious method. I used lego bricks to make a castle and then Mold Star 30 from Smooth-On to make the molds. This project only requires a handful of basic power tools and was time-consuming but quite easy to make.

I love this. The beams could be easily extended past the castles to put them more under the bed if people are worried about stubbed toes. I love the whimsical concept!
That's a great idea!
Concrete bed legs. Endorsed by podiatrists everywhere!
@@davehaggerty3405 concrete or wood… all would hurt like crazy if kicked Lmao
honestly, I'd rather take the chance my toes would glance off the broad surface area of this concrete castle than clack my toes on a regular metal one where the contact point is so much smaller, it threatens your very existence.
I love this. My art teachers would hate a castle joint that looks like a castle. My only addendum would be to cut your mold with a jagged line instead of a straight line so it references better when putting it back together. If you could sell the mold or feet, I would buy lol.
great suggestion!
hi
Love this. Great throwback to old school HMM with a new twist...and extra snark. 😂
Thanks Brad!!!
Love this, the seams from the lego bricks translated to the concrete to make the castles look awesome 👌
Thank you very much!
Two things: You want a middle support touching the ground to prevent sagging, and if that is a foam mattress, you want a sheet of plywood directly underneath it to stop it from slowly seeping through the slats.
Don't apologize for using different media and techniques. Anything for a build, and you are the final judge. I think it's a great technique. Nice!
This is such a creative idea! I really love the contrast between the walnut ply and the concrete 🙌
my thoughts as well. I now would like a castle bed.
that's my living room!! 😜 Awesome bed, but I stubbed my toe on it and I've been laid up recovering for the past 5 days 😂
hahahahaha thanks for letting me shoot there!
The design adventures of Ben Uyeda. You know how I feel about castle joints. I love this project. Great stuff; keep it coming. I can’t wait for your house reveal.
thank you for always being supportive!
the way the Legos gave the cast Crete a brick and mortar look.. genius man. never heard of anyone using Legos for forms and it worked flawlessly. great video good sir.
This is my favorite project of anything you've ever done.
agree
Got real poetic there at the end.... beautiful.
Looking forward to the scaled up kitchen version of this!
I love this! How on earth is everything so expensive when in reality it isn't. Most things people can do on their own like this and don't let that curiosity and childlike creativity flow. Good on you dude!
Those concrete castle bases look awesome, not dumb at all!
Love the joinery, castle joints are just so satisfying to see plop together!
Fun and dare I say whimsical idea. Loved the comment about "crippling fear of stubbed toes". 🤣 There's probably a phobia name for that. Thanks for sharing!
Whimsy and practicality, narrated by a man with a plan humorously. Thx man
This is absolutely amazing. It even looks like it's made from little bricks!
I only realised right at the end how the Lego bricks left an impression on the concrete for a true castle like finish. That's awesome.
Good my friend I'm happy to watching your videos thank you
Not dumb at all! It’s incredibly fun. My son would enjoy a bed inspired by legos. 🏰
That's like a grown up, toned down version of a kids castle bed - I like it!
he has all the ryobi tools. nice design looks sturdy as heck
I love the idea. So much creative freedom, without the need for advanced tools or a workshop for woodworking.
Glad you like it! yes! I want to show that creativity can lead to options beyond tools
I love these projects - the ones that don’t really make sense but you know you just have to do, or the itch will keep growing. Keep on itching 👌
i like how you share your design process here. there are so many ways to get that creativity flowing. and the bed is cool!
Love this video! The casualness of the voice over is great. Feels like talking to a friend in studio. I also went to Cornell for b.arch
Man legos are the coolest
That took a lot of work. Dude! Good job.
Not absurd at all, Man!!! Love it!
thank you!
i love this, i love the looks of concrete and how you can just disassemble it
Really beautiful and simple. Those bed legs seem kingly to me 👑
Awesome Job Bro…! Looks Great / Genius the way you made your own mold…!
The "castles" bear a strong resemblance to the concrete pillars in Tyrell's office seen in "Blade Runner." Cool project.
I love every part of this
Well done, sir. Excellent narration!
A video thumbnail playthrough shouldn't have made me as excited as this did. I'm going to need to see a priest.
This is gold excellent idea
How to make Lego hurt even worse than simply stepping on them in the dark. 😂. Well done on the process
Sometimes the best reasons to build something are because you want to and because it's rad.
3d printer would be life saving for the molds!
The castle joint is fun and you added awesome whimsy. I want one!
Thank you! Cheers!
i missed these kinds of videos!!
"Dumb and awesome at the same time." Hah. We love it.
Unique and original!! Just the kind of project that you really excel at! Thank you so much for sharing!! ..looking forward to the kitchen island! :)
I love this design!
Absolutely f*cking cool and beautiful
Solo de verlo me dan muchas ganas de hacerlo
Best part of the video was the rant about kicking concrete barefoot! 😂😂😂
lol just some observations :)
They would look nice under deck
I've been listening and inspired by your channel since the beginning. I hope you and your family are ok as you don't sound yourself in this video.
awww thanks for the concern! I am great just was a little hung over from burning man when I did the voice over!
looks really cool as always. I can't wait to have more and more tools to make bigger projects like these
very nice bed. I'm not afraid to stub my toe on it - I'm always kicking my metal frame and so far I've still got all 10 toes.
That's a toe breaker if I ever did see one!!
Damn they look good and the pattern from the bricks make them look even better!
Favorite video. Also, you were extra funny
Loved! I love Lego!
Beautiful 😍 And the Lego marks 😱
super cool. thanks as always.
concrete furniture is certainly a option for those with cats :)
Maybe a good idea to fill it with a Lego structure to take some of the weight away
That was awesome!
Not dumb, I love it.
thank you!
Good stuff! That sensor dust at the end is painful tho 😂
Love the creativity Ben... as always!!
Thanks a ton!
Giant concrete blocks for bed posts. I will call it the Toe Stubber design
How did this idea never occur to me? This is pure genius!
just being silly and serious at the same time
It's not silly, it's smart. Would it be smarter to build it in cad and 3d print it or CNC it out of something? I don't think so.
Very well done.
This is soooo cool!
Nice job!! 👍🏻
This is epic, thanks
Well done!
thank you!
I thought from the thumbnail that you were making the foundation for an outdoor structure. That's where I would use these.
You should call that bed the "destroyer of pinky toes"
Aaaaamaaaaazing 😯
This is so cool, and it looks gorgeous. You have a very unique aesthetic that inspires; thank you for sharing your thinking process. Keep up the amazing work!
Thank you so much!
So neat!
I appreciate it!
This is such a fun project! I kinda hope you make a headboard to match 😁
looks nice! only issue is that sitting on the edge of the bed you'll bump into the frame, maybe getting a bigger bed or shortening the frames size.
I love this project
Saw one used for making raised bed gardens too. Does seem like it would go up fast.
So good
Awesome Ben! Another banger Idea 👌
That is something i have never seen. I love it. How cool would that be for a boys bedroom??!
This really turned out cool, you have more patience than me.
That's badass 😎
Wouldn't want to stub my toe on that thing!
Needs center castle for support and should have used fiberglass to strengthen the concrete.
Cool though but I’m afraid won’t last as built.
Amazing ❤
That looks amazing
Love wearing steel toe boots to bed
Very cool method of mold making! If people are that worried about stubbing their toe, maybe they should pay more attention and look where their going?
Good point!
Looks great, but I would break my toes in the night
Idk man I really like this
What a great idea!!!
Nice!
That was pretty cool
My toes curled when I saw this.
My shins are shaking with fear.
I love this kind of proyect! Can we talk about concrete? Quikcrete doesnt exist in my country
any concrete should work if its over 3000 psi
I love most of this project buy would like to know, was it the uneven concrete that prompted you to use plywood over solid wood and do you plan to address the exposed edges later?
