    For those stuck at 1:50:00 about the lofted boss/base feature here's what to do:
    For some reason SW won't let you created the lofted boss base because the 15mm spline diameter is too small, increase it to 20mm and you'll be good to go :)

    as usual great work .. keep on bro .. I have a suggestion which may help us as learner, I wish that you
    1- Upload the whole project after you finish it and save it so we can check it closely and compare your work with ours .
    2- Upload the figures with dimensions photo, so after watching your video we will try to do it alone without depending on the video or until we stop in a point we will go back to the video. Another benefit of uploading the figure dimensions that we have an idea of what you are going to design and we can keep track .
    hope that you will take in consideration these two suggestion .
    Thanks a lot

    As someone who has taught Solidworks to engineering students, I can really appreciate how challenging it is to do a "live" demonstration of a complex assembly like this.
    That being said, there are aspects of this video that drive me a bit bonkers. Things like punching in very specific dimensions (i.e. for the chain) all over the place, where you don't identify where these numbers come from nor how to derive them. Worse yet, the design is not tolerant of future changes. I MUCH prefer to do this kind of design using feature-dependent in-context relations/mates, such that they automatically align without all the manual fussing you do, such as at the end of the video to make it "look" reasonable (but it's really not on-spot). I also take exception to your bypassing Solidworks complaints by using "bodies" for many of your features. My reaction is "Please, get it right!", so that you don't have to band-aid these aspects, many of which will bite you later in the process.
    Yes, this is certainly a useful video to watch for beginners, but speaking as an engineering prof and someone who's managed commercial development teams, there's just too much "softness" here for those who really want to know how it's done.
    So, mixed feelings. You've managed to make an interesting design that LOOKS relatively good. But the underlying models leave a lot to be desired, particularly if future changes are needed. Imagine what will happen if you want to make the bicycle one inch longer. Ouch!

    the Tutorial shows good some function of solidworks. Its good to make a model of something.
    Only i must say that the design systematic horrible is. Nobody should design something that way that needs to be fabricated.
    In my job as a mechanical designer i see it all the time the lack of design systematics.

    • @rayjan7996
      @rayjan7996 4 роки тому +2

      @@slyztercoreveanged3175 : one big thing is that you design with fabrication in mind. Also think ahead what features and dimensions could change. Design that way that changes are easy and does not blow up the design.
      Also all sketches that get made need to be full defined.

    • @slyztercoreveanged3175
      @slyztercoreveanged3175 4 роки тому

      @@rayjan7996 so what u mean is, when we design..every part is meant to comply with fabrication limit right? I know most of the time fabrication and architect always in argue because architect want to make design that is nice, but fabrication will argue how hard to build it. So when we design something in solidworks or any other CAD, make the parts and design within fabrication limit of your workplace or for diy within their capabilities to fabricate. Is that what you mean?

    • @rayjan7996
      @rayjan7996 4 роки тому +3

      @@slyztercoreveanged3175 basically that is correct. I know it is always a balance between how it shall look and how it is possible to fabricate. For example in this video it is modeled up only for presentation. Lots of parts he modeled up should be assemblies because that's what they are. Also he models quit a few parts that are purchase parts, like bolts and nuts.
      Like I said, for presentation purpose it's ok, but not for real design for fabrication. but what's wrong even for presentation is how he made some "parts" by extruding first a big block but than cutting away big portions again and later add material again by new extrusions. that makes a part very difficult to change later especially by a different person. There is so much that should be avoided while designing that someone could make lots of tutorial videos of it.

    You are a great teacher and shows everything in a simple and methodical way- I like to know if you can help me create a library feature of my logo cut inside the ring (jewelry), in old Sledworks I was able to create logo library features easily, but now when I create it does not create the logo cut in like 14kt, 18kt, Platinum and my company name, as library features are not been able to create ,the error message is the some features are absorbed in the model, even if I create parts that are just sketches on plane are not been able to be crated as library parts or features- any suggestion?
