I always have heard Yamahas are good bikes people love them. But the only reason i wouldn’t get one (it’s a dumb reason) is because i really hate the look of the front fender.
I actually kinda like it (I have one so bias) but idk lol
Haha not a dumb reason. I'll never buy a Husqvarna because I don't like the colors of it.
@@DerekHallman They have it in orange and red btw ;)
Yamaha's are good bikes my first bike was one, i switched to kawi cause i hate the airbox design on the new yz 250f and i have had good luck with the kawi
THATS WHY I DONT LIKE YAMAHA TOO
I recently got a 2017 KTM 150 and cant fault it, so glad I bought it
If it's slow it's the rider not the bike.😂
@@Randy_Cox true 😭
Great video as always mate. 👌 I remember when I subscribed to your channel ages ago and its amazing how far you have come as a rider. Top work. The yz might be slow but sounds amazing. sounds like you were having a blast though 😁👍
Great vid as always derek ❤
Early. And great vid as always derek keep up the good work ❤❤❤
keep the good vids coming
Love the content keep shredding
thanks Reid!
I love you videos dont stop What our doing 🎉
sounds so good
I had a 04 yz 125 and his bike sounds perfect.
I respect the 2 strokes but I love how easy 4 strokes are to ride and race
agreed the 4 strokes are much easier
I find being in a higher gear and clutching it up for power helps alot especially with traction
It’s funny how these are considered slow “fun” bikes these days. Back in the late 90s and early 2000s before four strokes took over these were considered rocket ships and a slow “fun” bike was a TTR125 or XR 😂. I’ve got a few bikes from 125s to 500s, two and four stroke, I don’t discriminate 😅 but a 2025 150sx is top of the list if I were buying another. Keep up the great content!
Nice rip!
Yz 125 baby in here from Atlanta, im sorry bro mt fav bike is the yz 125 and you can run them in the power band the entire ride. trust me the Yz doesn't mind lol
As a 2014 KTM150sx rider. I'm glad it got the appreciation it deserves 😂
The Yamaha YZ125 is making a good sound 🎉
How does your Ktm 150sx compare to a yz250f? Especially in sound and straight line speed?
Anywhere in the world where reliability counts then blue all the way.
What track is this/ where. This place looks awesome
Most fun I've had riding is on a yz125😊
It’s a good sound
That one bogs down low alil more then mine seems like it's all mid to top power . I have the same lectron carb. Just needs some fine tuning
tehehe nice vid
Ima 4 stroker but u looked fast Ngl😂😅
I just bought one and I’m terrified of it. Need to get out more, this videos sick tho, kinda helps tbh
Honestly when I was young I was terrified of my first two stroke 125 too. Just need to keep riding it and the practice will make you more comfortable on it and enjoy it more.
@@DerekHallman thanks dude. In hindsight the next step was obv an 85 but I’ll get used to it just by going more
Have you hade any bikes before?
@@albertforstall6265 had a ttr-125 for a year or so and had a ttr-110 for like 6 before (I’m 15 now). It’s completely different I’m just learning the powerband and getting used to being on the air
@@Declan_conlantrust me, everyone says a 125as a super aggressive power and but it’s not that bad compared to an 85. There a lot easier to ride just because of the longer wheel base and the bigger tires and suspension. They don’t want to wheelie like an 85 does
So slowwwww, but so fun. Gotta make some updates to it! Glad you enjoyed it. Definitely not your 150 though haha
Didn't mean to rag on your bike Ray 😭 You MUST ride my 150 next time we link up.
@@DerekHallman only stating facts haha will do can’t wait!
do you have any suggestions for a new rider.
We´ll you can get a 150ish kit for the yz to... =) Now try a 2005 KTM125 and tell us wich is better !
It would be great if you added a yz 250 to your garage!
You have to rev it hard and keep the Rs up, trust me, it can handle it. Its not easy and takes a lot of finesse and practice but once you master it its amazing! 4 strokes, especially 250s are almost too easy to ride, its spoiled alot of riders.
Nothing against you but man at least your able to ride a good bike and fun track, everyone around me rides clapped out yzs and crs and we have never rode track let alone one as cool as this. I have an sx85 and its a little small for me but i don’t think its slow by any means
125s are nice I have a friend with a yz125 and he loves it but honestly I cannot handle the maintenance that comes with a 2 stroke which is why I’ve switched I’m done cleaning carbs ft
When your 4 stroke blows a top end or you have to replace a spark plug you gonna want a two stroke again 😂 I work on cars and the reason I like 2 strokes more is cause the require less maintenance than 4 strokes and there easy to rebuild once you do them enough
@@just_z7137 nah that is true but I just had the top end on my bike rebuilt so hopefully this doesn’t happen
Just about every 4 stroke motocross bike is an absolute pain in the butt to work on. Sure, you won't need to maintain them as much, but it's still a race engine. Something will let loose eventually. Racing isn't a cheap hobby. If you want to race with reliability, get a pit bike. Sure it's not fast, but still tons of fun. 2 strokes are much easier and cheaper to work on, so that's why quite a few experienced riders opt for 2 strokes instead of 4 strokes. Big 2 stroke bikes also tend to be more lighter and maneuverable, which is a big advantage to some people.
2 questions, what's your favorite track here locally in VA? And I got a 2024 yz250x I'll let you rip around!
Honestly there aren't many public tracks in Virginia. My favorite is this track, Robert's. If you head down into NC there are a lot more tracks. I'm pretty sure we met at Robert's the day I filmed this video. You have a YZ250X and a red Ford Explorer ST right?
@@DerekHallman yeah man that's me! I've been trying to dm you on a platform so we can link up!
No hate i love this channel but the yz 125,s are one of the fastest 125 in my opinion 😂😂
Nice im thinking about getting sx 85 is it good
It's better to buy a 125, the costs will be similar.
if ur on the smaller side go for the 85 if not just go for the 125
do you not let off the gas when you up shift?
You don’t really have too if your hitting the gas slightly hit the clutch and shifter at same time and if you get used to it and learn it more you’ll see why it’s more effective in dirt racing or wtv
My bro. It’s yz125 and you got a ktm150 you got some power differents and if you upgrade them bikes can go up to a 144 but a ktm 150 would be faster just because it’s a 150 and not a 125 and you probably got some stuff on their too and I would pick a yz125 just because it feels better then a ktm150! But a Yama is better in the woods but motocross is good to on it
With a 144 kit the Yamaha would probably beat it ngl.
@@nathanroberts8777 true
It would be sick if you tested a gas gas
How much should I be expecting to pay for a used YZ 125?
For a older one in good shape at least 2 grand but if you want a new one that's really nice prolly around 3 to 4
The newer yz125 runs wayyy cleaner the 2023 and 2024 idk why but that bike was bogging in corners and seemed slower than the new ones
He ain’t riding it right that’s why it’s not the bike
Probably a carburetor issue. Either it's gunk in the bowl, or the jetting size.
The yz125 is a good bike. You can't compare it to a KTM150 and expect it to be as fast. First off, ride it in the powerband. You aren't even close. Ride it like a 125 not a 150.
@@espo2199 not even close to the "powerband" 🤣🤣
Dude he sound like tommymx
It's a 05 they weren't fast like the others but the new ones are faster
Where you at? I'm in Ohio. I'd let you rip my 2025 250sx if you're close.
You just hurt dudes feelings...saying what a dog his yz125 is..then pounding it in with the ktm150 comparison..lol..funny as hell..I bet next time u see dude he will have his cylinder ported and head work down. Lmao..
Dude rides like it's a 250 he not even on the pipe 😂
Not too bad for my first time ever on a dirt bike though 😭
Gotta let er eat everywhere, rev her out till she goes no more then shift
@@kirbytrees127 probably should have rode it harder for sure! Nervous doing that to friends bikes haha
@@DerekHallman wasn't bad for a first time brother, alot of people hate revving them out as that's the scare factor with blowing up(even tho it's worse to bog em out). But yeah dude they sing and love being ripped in powerband, if you can keep it always in the powerband you'll see alot of difference. As far as them being fast yeah no. The rider makes it fast and the fact you rarely have to brake
my buddies got a fully tricked out yz125 and im so used to the 450s they just feel doggy. even my kx112 felt faster...
Yeah ktm 150 def faster lol
Captain obvious 😂
It's faast if you know how to use it
