My buddy has an ancestor who died in the civil war after being hit by a logging chain fired from a confederate cannon. Have you tried a full chain yet?
Thank you! Oh for sure. I think if you were looking out a tiny port hole you’d be fine but if you were standing fully on deck you’d be looking at a really bad time.
I wouldn't want to be hit with any of that stuff, a fork to the eye may ruin one's day lol. I found plans to make a miniature B.P. canon in in high school metal shop years ago. that was one of the projects kids could choose but by the time I found it they wouldn't let students make them those anymore. my uncle made one when he was in school, so I got to see his. he doesn't actually shoot anything out of it, it just makes a boom.
Not much different from the French practice during the French & Indian War where the French would load pieces of metal, glass, whatever else they could. It wouldn't do much against fortifications or ships but it was devastating as an anti-personnel round. I imagine the crew would be worse for wear if they got on the receiving end of the cutlery.
We’re going to revisit this one for sure with a ballistics torso or some more watermelons to see what happens. I’m going to try and make one of those weird French rounds as well with the wooden case.
@@TheCannoneer What makes good targets (cheap anyways), $1 posterboard from Dollar General, I just cut them so you get a basic silhouette target and they come in brighter colors so you can see them easier.
@Bayan1905 I do appreciate that idea! We’ve been able to get a steady supply of car doors as well and those are wonderful targets and get to show some damage too.
Me too! And we packed them in there super well with a bunch of wadding behind to make sure they had the best chance of sticking. I’m sure we’re going to revisit this one.
perhaps if/when you reshoot at ballistics gel, maybe half the butter knives placed end first, other half end out to pack together better into a bundle - maybe even wrapped in a little bit of simulated sinew to help hold it together during ramming process
I think the silverware is grtting scattered by getting "tipped" out of the way as the gases exert on the rear of the projectiles, far behind their centre of mass. I wonder if you might get better results with a cup-shaped sabot behind some knives. Something like a plastic cup might hold the projectiles together -- and pointed forward -- until the cup leaves the bore. At that point, all the "pushing" is finished and the projectiles are going straight(er) towards the target. The cup will fall away by air resistance. Basically, this is a shotgun patterning problem. Shotgun people love to talk about how to make their guns pattern better.
I’m sure we will end up revisiting this one day! I don’t quite remember if I said it in the video or not but there’s a pusher disc behind the silverware so they would be pushed out on. No cup though!
Silverware doesn’t work because the center of gravity is behind the center of pressure. This causes the silverware to want to fly handle first, which causes it to tumble and fly in a very unstable manner.
I think if we shout it about 50 times you could accidentally get one to stick but I sure wouldn’t want to get hit with it either way. You would not be a happy camper. Thanks for tuning in!
I think I can make that happen! We’ve got a range with huge berms of red clay. We’re hopefully going there this week and I’ll try to focus on the impact zone too!
They were in a shotcup I just didn’t show it! We’ve also got wooden, tpu, and few more back discs for that issue when something isn’t the right size. Appreciate you tuning in!
I want to so badly but I'm not quite sure how to load it as I think the second it hits the powder it will set off the cannon! I don't want to be Brandon Herrera and almost blow myself up with a blackpowder gun!
What do you want to see us shoot next?
A pound of pennies or dimes please 😊
I’ll add that to the list! Good one!
If you haven't done it before, how about flechettes?

could you try do things like making / casting shells with more modern geometries?
When a food fight gets out of hand...
How to instantly win haha
You mean Hollywood lied to us? 😂
They would never….😂🤣
Great video as usual! Definitely wouldn't want to stand in the path of that flatware!

Super fun idea. I wanted something to stick so bad! lol
Oh me too! I'm sure we will be revisiting this one in the future.
What the hell?? Are you helping Abe Lincoln to hunt vampires or are you hunting were wolves??
I like the way you think and you just gave me some ideas as well!

If you can get someone woth a front end loader to make a big mound of wet clay, that ought to make a spectacular impact.
I think I can make that happen! We’ve got a range with huge berms of red clay. We’re hopefully going there this week and I’ll try to focus on the impact zone too!
Bravo!
Thank you!
I love how you pay attention to wievers suggestion. Here is a snack for the algorithm.
Of course! Y’all are the important part of all this! Thanks so much!
DUDE!! FLECHETTES!!! That would be awesome if you can figure out how to source them.
It's on the next batch of filming. I've had them for a bit bit finding a place to shoot them was the harder part as we have animals at all our ranges!
Seet! Looking forward to it, I understand the headaches with the range.
Why's the rum always gone?
It's always gone when we need it the most....
You need a sabot or shotcup cup to reduce blowby...

Thanks!
This channel... I f with this
Hahaha much appreciated!
What you think about shooting red hot roundshot?

Although, trust me, if I can figure out how to safely do it I'll be all over it!
how about big nails
On the list! Thanks for tuning in!
@@TheCannoneer cool hope you the best also may be one other one wood be a DIY dart made from a nail and or rebar
@@volkinaxe I like it! They used to shoot giant darts out of them back in the day and I'm planning on making some of those as well!
@@TheCannoneergood luck
I have been looking for a channel with this exact kind if content for so long, this is friggen awesome, you build it we blast it segment name idea
I’ll add that to the list! That’s a good one though! I’m going to run a pole and let y’all decide!
