Miriam, would you please consider doing a video(s) on how to interview/select the right landscape architect and lawn care people? Also, how to interview/select competent local interior designer and housekeepers; as well as how to source high-end furniture and decor? Thank you. Your outdoor gardens are stunning.
As I am planning to remodel my backyard in AZ, the suggestions and expert advice was heaven sent to me. I am also happy to know I am on the right track
Thank you for such great tips and for sharing your Beautiful Home and Garden. You always give tips that I don’t always think of. I enjoy your videos greatly. Great work!
Miriam, I am so glad I found your channel. Everything you talked about in all of your videos are so right on exactly how I feel when I do my home renovations, interior decorations, and gardening. Others think I am very picky person when it comes to designing. When I am not sure about how to decorate/ design something I do NOTHING until the ideas come to my mind. You are my inspiration. Thank you
I love this. This is exactly what I am working on right now. I have been cleaning off the patio preparing for winter, but also making a plan for what I will do with it in the spring. You have great tips. Thank you.
Absolutely stunning outdoor living area and garden!! I use faux plants mixed in with live plants. My neighbors don’t know the difference! Great tips as always!
Hello Miriam, What a beautiful home you have and what great suggestions and ideas!! Thank you as always for your expert knowledge as you are always spot on! Cannot wait for the next video. Have a beautiful day! :)
Spot on! I’ve had contractors rush me into decisions that I have to painfully endure. Most recent remodel of the primary bath. These contractors are NOT designers. They make decisions that are not what the homeowner wants. On my next remodel I will hire a designer! You just can’t get those details without the expertise of a designer.
Wow this was very helpful. I live in New Hampshire and I do put out furniture on our deck and as you pointed out I am so sick of bringing in the cushions when it’s going to rain then putting them out again. I’m thinking of getting chairs without cushions this coming spring. Your also right about water proof and mildew resistant fabrics. Our umbrella has sunbrella fabric and it did get mildew on it this year. Luckily I was able to take off the fabric and wash it in the washing machine. Came out looking new. Thank you for this video. Lots of great tips.
This video was very helpful to visually see what I can do with my backyard and patio. I have a smaller home with the patio running the length of the back of the house. From the back of the house toward the yard the concrete is 12 feet. Beyond that is 8 feet of grass approximately and beyond that is my flower garden about 10 feet wide and the length is about 20 feet or less. There is a common area with pine trees and holly bushes and it's very pretty to look at. I planned to put better lighting in the garden and with all the ideas that you brought forth with your home you have given me a better idea as to how I can decorate with focal points. I watched a few of your videos today and you have solved many problems with me wanting to have a more luxury felt home to enjoy. I will be able to look back and compare what you suggested with how I can incorporate these looks in my kitchen, bathroom, living room, dining room and outdoors. You have really stretched my imagination. Thank you for your advice and examples.
Garden = beauty, love, peace, recharging, alive, soothing yet invigorating. Mum was a Brit, need I say more? Your knowledge is mind boggling and very much appreciated. Your influence will be found throughout our retirement home in the north Georgia mountains starting in about 17 months when my husband retires. Your quiet spot for morning coffe, mine will be beside the waterfall ... negative ions ;)
Liebe Miriam ich schaue deine Videos in der Schweiz. Du hast mir geholfen ein bewussteres und organisierter es soeben zu führen. Ich liebe deine Videos. Viele Grüsse aus der Schweiz.
I live outside Tucson and my patio overlooks the 14 hole of the golf course with the 9000' mountains behind. So I use the Japanese principle of borrowed landscape. The rear of the house is mainly glass. At sunset the mountains turn the most beautiful magenta. And yes, I bought the house for the view of the mountains. At Christmas I have white lights wound around the saguaros front and back. This is home.
Thanks for the tip on the patio stone size/scale to complement the home. My house is built with small bricks and I thought the patio stones should be small as well, that's what I see everyone do in my neighborhood. Now, I know better. Cheers🇨🇦
Your videos are quality and informative. I love your style in fashion. Your ideas of bring luxury to life at your own level just pushed all the right buttons in me. Thank you
Very practical video , especially here in Florida it’s very warm and humidity weather . I’m starting to build a new house , but it’s a normal family home, I’m watching your videos to learn and to try to make better selections I will love to have that flow in my house . Thank you for the videos 😍
I absolutely love your classic style. I love that you tell us that it's okey that we don't do everything at once. I've been thinking about my out door space for a while. I want a large vegetable garden next year. But I want an outdoor space too. deck verse patio, leaning more towards patio more classic in my opinion.
… and the most important of these is: Hiring a competent landscape designer or architect, because they will take into consideration all the aspects of lifestyle, materials, spatial planning, and living elements. It was refreshing to hear an interior designer’s perspective on the garden, since you otherwise often hear about plants and nothing else. I would like to add a note on the outdoor lighting: Start first with safety and focal points in mind. Do not light up everything at once to look like a circus. Think of ambient, task, and accent lighting, just as indoors. Some lights should face downward (to light up steps, for example); some face upward, such as to accent the form or bark of a tree; and some, like moonlighting, give a more ethereal glow.
Your home is a beautiful sanctuary. I need help with furniture placement and arranging my decor pieces. I don't have a design background and get so frustrated. Thank you for sharing so much knowledge.
My favorite countertop material is no longer being made, unfortunately. It was the old, durable formica that was very slightly bumpy and you could do anything on it. My mother-in-law had it in her kitchen. You could roll out cookie or pie dough on it, you could get tea, coffee, cranberry juice, grape juice, even mustard on it. All you had to do was to gently scrub it with a soft paste of Bon-Ami, rinse it well until it was no longer gritty and the countertop looked brand new! Keep in mind she had a sort of ivory color, so to look brand new, it was really durable. No stone is as durable as that formica was and the newer formica scratches and stains too easily. I wish I had that old formica in my own kitchen! 🙈
