Glad it was helpful! I'm not sure if things are different this year because of COVID, but an adviser never reached out last year. Registration typically happens at FASET for first-years.
THIS IS A GODSEND. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I have FASET coming up in 3 days, and I was stressed for the past week because I felt like I didn't know anything that was going on. You're a lifesaver!!
Glad it helped and have fun at FASET! And try not to stress, I've literally been registered for 1 class before and still ended up getting everything I wanted by the end of phase 2.
One tip tho: you can register before your assigned 'time slot' if it's still the same as a few years ago (registration opens for everyone as soon as the first time slot opens). Also I think they keep dropping slots in common freshman classes throughout the day (supposed to be for the later time slots) so watch out for those 👀
This was so helpful! I am a first year student at Tech and will also be majoring in CS. It would be cool if you could make future videos about your experience with different CS classes or advice about Internships and what not. Thanks again!!!
I haven’t used it yet, but it looks promising. I probably will next time I start looking for classes. OSCAR will not let you overlap, but I believe you can waitlist a class over another one.
Im trying to pick my classes for a Mechanical engineering program but like when I looked at MATH 1551 (one of the courses it said we should do in our first semester) it was all full except for three spots in all the classes shown. Do they make more classes for us or can we not take it until we get waitlisted into it?
For classes like that they usually open up more spots at every FASET to keep it fair. You should go ahead and waitlist (no reason not to), but once in Phase II things usually work out with people switching (especially with the craziness this year)
I’m still in high school, and I’m doing good virtually, but I don’t think I’m going to make it virtually in college, do you know when you guys are allowed back on campus for in-person learning, or have you guys already been allowed?
As of now, Fall will be in a hybrid format. Some classes are online, others are a mix of online and in person, and a select few are fully in person. Campus will be open unless things change.
Tyler Schott Well, I don’t think I’m good enough to get into Georgia Tech. I’ve always been average, and it’s too late for me to take AP classes, bur I might be able to get into LSU, UTEP, etc. Wish me luck man
El del Bajo tbh Georgia tech was my first dream school during freshman year. But as soon I saw how high their expectations are in terms of stats and extracurriculars I kinda felt not good enough and forgot about my dream. However, when it was time to apply to college I applied to high reach schools like USC, Georgia tech, University of Rochester and Berkeley as a joke. To my surprise I got into all of them along with my safety schools. I wasn’t an AP or SAT wiz in HS but still managed to get into a good college. So always shoot high
Hey Tyler thank you for this helpful video! I am an incoming international student and I was wondering what dorm building near scheller you would recommend to stay in first year? Based on the room size, proximity of events and etc. thank you!
Any dorms on East campus will be closer to Scheller, but as a first year most of your classes will be fulfilling core requirements, so you probably won't even be in Scheller most of the time. As far as the best dorms on East: Glen and Towers are the best, but go quickly. Past those two it's hit or miss. West campus dorms are larger, but are further from midtown, the stadium, frats, and Scheller.
You will register during FASET and there will be people to help (although you don’t actually have to wait until your specific time slot if you don’t want to). I would recommend starting to think about your classes a bit before you go, but I went in knowing nothing and it turned out fine so don’t worry :)
I heard Gatech registration sucks! When registration opens the server crashes, and remains down for long time. It is happens in every registration time. They should improve it. But it seems they do not care, as if the folks have a sadistic pleasure in putting students in hours of agony.
I hope you know GT is actually linking you for the intro to signing up for classes tutorial online! Congrats. That is really impressive!
Oh awesome, thanks for letting me know!
This was so so so helpful!!! I wish I saw this before phase 1!
Yes!! This is suuuper helpful !
Thank you! For some reason I haven’t been contacted by an academic advisor so this is very helpful

That was actually super comforting :D Thanks sm!!!

HELLO
Literally sooo helpful TYLER; I'm sharing this with my GT '24 groupchats hehe :). Also. Awesome edits! Did you use AfterEffects and edit in Premier?
Thank you! I'm glad it could help some!! I use Final Cut Pro (you know I love my Apple products...) and mostly just different title packs for effects.
A life saver!
Thank you! How does Jason Park scheduler and the new one on reddit relate to this? Also, does oscar let you sign up for overlapping classes?

I’m a first year joining this fall. Will we be doing this during FASET? Or how does the process actually work? Ahh this feels kinda chaotic haha
