Hey Kyle, I'm a first year student at Tech, and while it's only been three weeks, I'm worried about internships next summer. Unlike you, I have no experience in app creation or web design, though I have taken data science classes before. I also have no idea on what kinds of projects one needs to do for internships and how to approach them. Any advice on where to start?
I'd say there's probably no one "right" place to start, because it's highly dependent on what you're interested in. For example, if you see yourself hoping to get an internship working on iOS development, getting going with building some simple Swift apps might be your best bet. Or, maybe there's some open-source projects you think are really cool - figure out if you can start contributing to those - start small, learn the codebase and the expectations for contributors, and then you can grow from there. Companies don't expect interns to be experts in anything (especially as a freshman), which means the important part is mostly showing initiative and that you make projects for fun outside of your classwork. My apps were all super simple (with very few downloads), but it showed that I liked to code in my spare time and teach myself new things. Play around with anything you think is interesting, and don't worry too much about the outcomes for now. Good luck!
Hi Kyle, I wonder whether you could land a video introduing the CS courses you have taken at GT. I'm interested in the system courses and heavy coding ones. Thanks: )
Hey, you might want to check out the playlist I made where I broke down all of my classes (ua-cam.com/play/PL_P2z826pPxAc6qUP7PWm7ViEP7bRhF8I.html) - this does include my non-CS classes as well, but I probably won't make another video dedicated to the CS courses since I talked about all of them here.
I didn't double major personally, but my understanding is that you should be able to do that. That being said, I'm sure it'll be a challenging course load and you might need to take more credits per semester to do that, but you should be able to get more info from one of GT's advisors about what that might look like.
This was really informative! As a senior in high school, you covered a lot of the main points I was curious about.
Great! Glad it was able to help :)
This is an outstanding video and topic
Thank you this was verrrryyyy helpful

As an international students, can I get an internships offer like you did? I think international students have so many restrictions.
I'm seriously considering taking a double major, aerospace as well as computer science. Is this possible at Georgia Tech? (just applying this year)
