    I started with a stocking first to get my hair trained to go back, than used a hair net to keep it in place....50yrs later still slicking it back minus the stocking/hairnet...good to see Chicanos not shaving their heads as much....Women love a man with a good set of hair...my opinion!...

    What! I had no idea... I'm a woman (Black and Mexican) with really long wavy hair. I usually comb it back just like this and twist my ponytail into a ball. I like to leave the lines from the comb in it along with my waves. I grew up Black, but it's funny when I realize that I have alot of Chicano tendencies...lol. Shout out to the Ancestors...lol.

    Back in my days ( 90's-01) I used some water and hairspray* Slick back with a black-comb that goes through your finger. Then put a homemade hair-net ( woman Trouser Sock: bought from any store ) till it's dry. The results look nice, slicked, and shiny . Three flowers & Murray's Hair Dressing 3-ounce Pomade was another not a big fan of Hair Gel. Now I just buzz my hair and wear a hat.

  • @bjulianlm
    @bjulianlm 4 роки тому +2

    There didn't use to be this water base stuff back in the day. Your pillows used to be greasy and sticky all the time and you slept with the net to wake up with that slick back look. If you wanted to take that stuff off your head, you used palmolive dish soap to cut it right off in the shower. Nice to see the youth enjoying this look tho.

  • @halfmoonrisin
    @halfmoonrisin 8 років тому +50

    man your hair is far from messed up Looks so healthy and thick too great hair I think it would lay down better if the top is kept longer weight times the length of your hair. Also have you ever tried a light pomade or hair putty that will still give you same effect but washes out easier.

    • @cortezafterdark
      @cortezafterdark  7 років тому +1

      I agree weight is very important for slick backs since they're flatter. I'm not very crazy about light pomades since my hair requires grip but a good water based pomade will wash out easily.

    • @cortezafterdark
      @cortezafterdark  7 років тому

      Before you blow dry I recommend combing your hair back and then put on the net. After you blow dry leave it on for a few minutes so it's completely dry and easy to apply product.

    Is pomade better to use then gel? and whats the difference?

    • @cortezafterdark
      @cortezafterdark  7 років тому +3

      THE RAIDER NATION pomade is better than gel. Gel gets hard and crispy which ruins your hair, while pomade is easier to recomb and doesn't strangle your hair as much
