Its been too long since I've seen what's happening with the Allegro, after I ran out of videos to watch and had seen all the Princess vid's up to that point I sort of forgot all about it, so I'm really happy that there's another bunch of vids to catch up on, I find them very interesting and enjoyable so cheers for that.
Love the way everything seems so simple wish there was a few more guys like yourself about in the workshop’s, don’t let the filming side take over who you really are, your so good at what you do if you were my son I’d be so proud of you, well done.
Stumbled across your channel this morning & I’ve watched all 6 episodes on the allegro k20 Awesome project & I look forward to seeing some more progress Real informative & interesting videos 👍👌
These videos are very interesting. I feel like they give a bit of an insight into what goes into developing a car from scratch, and why it costs so much money
Awesome display of engineering talent. Great to see how things have progressed. Can’t wait for it to be finished so you can get back to the Princess. 👍
Jonny is in my bad books lol. Changing the ride height has put you back a bit, but once again you have done an amazing job. Loving this build and the videos, Adam. I hope you are well, and have a great Christmas.
I missed out on the early history of this project and they aren't available on youtube, but I am really enjoying all the subsequent episodes. Some years ago I helped a friend building kit cars and Lotus 7 'replicas' (actually I only held the spanners) so watching your fabrication skills is fascinating. I managed to get things to hold together with a MIG welder, but your work really shows how pathetic my efforts were.
@@FabCoUKMany thanks. Found the early episodes on Jonny's channel. They don't seem to explain how the project came to you from the previous company, but perhaps I just haven't found that. Best wishes for 2023, and I look forward to watching progress on the projects.
Just a quick one, which is now too late, you can re drill from 4x100 to 5x100 if you use one of the existing holes, near on impossible if 2 different pcd's are present though. Great channel,Mr urch mentioned you in his last video.👍👍😎
Great to see the care, attention and thought that went into just the engine mounts. I am puzzled by the economics of you tube. How does liking and subscribing to the late brake show pay for all of this?
Great work. I'm very much looking forward to the next installment. Do the strut towers still need a bit of curvy tarting up ? Will you be doing any Mini build vids ? I noticed you have one in the shop.
Man building aesthetically challenged car is worried about visually displeasing under body framework 😆 Loving the engineering and seeing more progress with this build. The videos are getting slicker too!
Looks nice, i did an engine swap on a 205 once, instead of changing the manifold (shortening it) i decided to go the route of bulk head modification to get more room. I have seen people extending wings also cutting up an old wing to lengthening the pre-existing one very hard to tell its been done (need to ofc lengthen bonnet or panel Infront of window) Few mini engine swaps take this route with flip fronts that are a tiny bit longer. Maybe an option for a few inches if you get stuck. Looking smart though. Cant wait to see it finished, but will miss the updates once it is.
You're going to have fun routing the intercooler pipes past the headlights. It might work better if the intercooler was 'upside down', so the pipes come out at the bottom?
Nice to see a Blog on Jonny's but I'd (and I'm sure many other YT fans) want to see some updates on your own projects. Also it would be nice to see any other work you do on customers cars.
That wheel set up looks sick, can we have a shot with a hub cap😘. Some great content, would rather you explain as you go along (as you do) than you rush the build and we dont know how you've done stuff🤙
Good work bud! Probably too late now, but I believe a mk2 Golf and a 1992-1995 civic share the same wheel bearing ID, possibly a integra of the same era. Could have used a honda hub in 4x100 or 5x114.3 and possibly a stock honda axle of some sort.
Good update I found the Punto a better unit for the EPS as it's smaller than the corsa or I have now seen you can ger the little cheat box for the new fiesta so again a lot smaller unit and also cheaper to buy and readily available
i think the gearbox mount is causing uou issues as you are trying to use the same mount both sides. If you look at the standard ep3 gearbox mount its a round mount tyrned the other way so takes out a lot of rock and wont matter where it is in relation to the other side
excellent vid, top notch info merry christmas + a happy new year did you do your apprenticeship at vickers tanks, that's some thick plate for the mounts am i under-estimating that honda power, or are you a belt, braces, + ratchet strap man bloody customers, always moving the goalposts... PS we know it's an upside down lhd rack, but you haven't told the punters
29:00 with regards to the steering rack you need to make sure that it is mounted at the right height in order to avoid bump steer. The track rod ends have a 'relationship' with the lower suspension wishbone, you can google this but for the cars that I have worked on I just stuck a B+Q laser onto the brake disk or some other suitable component then jacked the suspension through it range 10mm at a time, the laser can be pointed a sheet of paper a couple of metres in front of the car, you can mark the laser dots every 10mm then join them together, the line should be more or less vertical, if it heads outwards or inwards you have bump steer. (which will TOTALLY ruin the handling!). Maybe you already know about bump steer and have sorted this out, in which case I am teaching you to suck eggs! If not PLEASE look into this, bump steer really does ruin a car's handling! In my opinion the Allegro is and always was a horrible car! (meant in a nice way!) I guess that is why you are making a street sleeper out of one, it will still look sort of 'horrible' but will scare the crap out of of any BMW drivers that 'try it on' Nice one! My mate and I have built a Rover SD1 (not quite as horrible apart from the gold colour!) but with a tuned 4.6 V8 lump, it has took a lot of effort but it puts out 315 BHP that goes through a Cosworth T5 box running Quaife straight cut close ratio gears (tall first gear), it runs a Quaife LSD....BMW drivers don't like this car either!
The hilarious thing about this Allegro sleeper is that nobody even knows what an Allegro is anymore. I'm over 40 and I vaguely remember them being on the road when I was a kid in the 80s, but now you never see them in the wild so it makes no difference whether you make it into a sleeper or not. I think today something like a Citroen Xsara Picasso might be a better shout but even the early ones of those are getting rare.
@@FabCoUK I think it's a great project. Sticking with front wheel drive and maintaining a fairly normal outside appearance is completely my way of doing things. Don't like it when people mate a shell with parts that are too unrelated to the spirit of the original car... i.e. to the point when the donor vehicle is more dominant within the finished product than the original car.
Is that's a custom jig? btw loving the car.. when i was young I used to call them a SPUD (because it looks like a potato on wheels) as they were normally a 💩brown colour 😅😆

All parts of the job. No complaints from me
@@GuyChapman Jonny Smith tries not to pay for anything…. No doubt he’s scrounging to the Max on this one….
Personally the original sleeper style would've been my choice, as the only way to make an Allegro look cool is to squash it into a cube.
