    when you use that go-pole it totally looks like a green screen shot! (don't kill me in the comments, I know it isn't) it's really interesting how that thing works.

      It looks so fake it's really strange. I think it's because the background appears still while the paramotor is kinda jumping around a bit.

    Hey; I am a private pilot(single engine land) working on my instrument and commercial. I only have somewhere between 250 and three hundred logged hours. I love all things flying. Tempted to get into paramotoring; but I live at 4,500 feet msl in a forest. I watched the adventure where your freindships motor went out, and the shortly after landing it was fine with no apparent issues. I have experienced carb Icing on a number of occasions. You'll be going along just fine and feel a need for a little more power. This keeps happening untill your max open and your rpm keeps dropping. By this time a pilot just opens the carb heat and less then a minute later I was in the clear and pulling throttle out to avoid an engine over speed condition. What caught me off guard was it happened on a bright warm summers day. The humidity was just right at my altitude and it happened. I don't know the specifics of paramotor engines and performance. Just something to consider. The ice disapates fast with carb heat and it probably would have melted right before or after your freindships landing assuming it was warm out(corn field full of live corn)it was probably warm out.

    What I love about your PPG vid's is the control you have given that there's a motor you can go up, down, left, right, whatever you choose. With base jumping you pretty much are just going to lose altitude unless there's some thermals or something... so what's the attraction? It doesn't seem like it would be as fun or as safe? What am I missing Tucker-dude?

    Hey Tucker. I've always loved any way to experience "all the fun of flying and none of the red tape". That's why I flew a Quicksilver MX for over 20 years. Had to give it up when they closed the local airport and I had nowhere to keep my machine. I now fly lower on a Suzuki 650 Vstrom but once hooked, the desire for low and slow in the cool evening calm never leaves you. I'm in pretty good shape for a 65 year old guy and am wondering about my best path back into the air in a paramotor since I can't afford the "boring" kind of aviation anyway. BTW, have you ever flown the redrock area of Utah? Moab, Canyonlands, etc? Not very green but super spectacular.

    • @RonBesse
      @RonBesse 6 років тому +2

      I had a MX and other ultralights and an Experimental too. Same issues with hangers etc...
      I got into PPG because of Gott and others on UA-cam. Just did my 4th flight on a Nitro 200.
      I'm 56 and not even close to the oldest guys out there training. Don't let the running fool you. Once you start forward and the glider comes up over head, you start throttling up and the forward thrust pushes you and the glider instantly takes the weight of the paramotor off you back. Like running on the moon.
      My second flight I had no wind at all, it was 96 degrees, very high humidity, and the glider was getting damp from the grass. I ran close to 50 yards before getting into the air. Once I was, up and got into the seat, I realized I wasn't even heavy breathing. If you are wanting to take leasons, I would get a hold of Aviator PPG in Florida. They are affiliated with really good instructors around the US.
      I'm training with Paragliding Unlimited here in Southern Illinois near St.Louis, Mo. Super fun !!!
      Hope this helps you some,
      Ron.😎

      @@davefullmer8669 I would still give Aviator PPG a call and talk with them. At 175 lbs your going to have lots of options. I just bought the Parajet Maveric that is not that heavy, but tons of power. The Nitro 200 is even lighter that is a really nice kit. If you are mostly into cross country fling like I'm planning on. I'm betting it's going to be more of a glide selection thing for you more than the need for a larger paramotor. I'm at 210 lbs and those paramotors throw me around like a rag doll. LOL.
