The shot of the steam coming out of the radiators being carried over the car in perfect streamlines was the most epic depiction of the power and precision of this project. Epic work!!
on friday it was without a doubt the loudest car at FOS, including F1 cars, but it had a few issues, not sure if he made some changes but on saturday and sunday it seemed a bit quieter, probably just me though
@@kaijuryuk rotaries are notoriously louder than a majority of piston engines btw... Having 3 cycles going through the same small port that opens up to 4-5" is essentially a massive megaphone that amplifies it even more lol.
In 2017 I was at a Cars and Coffee where the Gia Lai Team showed up. They are notorious for being very loud when they leave. I shot a video sitting on the curb about 10 feet behind one of their Aventadors as it bounced off the limiter for a solid 20 seconds. Every back fire felt like getting punched in the chest, and I felt the heat of every flame that spat out the back of it. My ears rang for the next few minutes after. A 3 rotor I saw at a drag strip was significantly louder from the stands than that Aventador from 10 feet. Calling it a monster does it absolutely no justice.
The dude clearly knows the car and is clearly good at the wheel. Don't twist your knickers, life's too short to not apreciate the beauty of a rotary swapped P1 do a half donut next to priceless Ferraris
Rotary engines have ALWAYS been reserved for those who WANT TO UNDERSTAND them! Excellent source of power. I had a rx3 back in the day. 13b Weber carbureted….miss that beast!

What a machine and made it 10x better with that 20B swap. It looks like it's having clutch/trans issues and I remember Madmike running into them from his YT build videos. I'm sure he and the team will take their time sorting the car out after rushing to complete it in under the 100day build time. This is the most insane build in the world at the moment IMO.
they talked about it on the build series on mad mike ytb channel, they said it would probably not last the full FOS but then they would use it as much as possible
@@xViRUz7624 yup I remember that. pretty sure it's part 3 or 4 where it's mentioned. Plus they had to redo, from scratch a whole new turbo kit/manifold/shifter. Most customs builds need minimum of a year of shop time to build and in normal conditions, 2yrs total to be 100% dialed in. the fact they managed to finish a hybrid build where every single part is custom in 100days is absolutely mad!! just shows how dedicated MadMike and his team are on such a unique car build. Mind you, only rotary swapped 650s in the world..lol

I'm glad they did it and the noise was amazing but another rush job that just didn't seem to be set up properly like the madbul Compare these runs to Deane, Baggsy, etc. or his own in the MX5. There's a reason you don't see MR cars in FD
I will always love the rotary I had a rx7 (12a standard) Then another rx7 (12a heavily street ported) Then same rx7 with a 13B turbo, with add ons Then a rx 8(with decat exhaust and better intake) And they were all equal in own way My rx 8 I had the longest, nearly 6 years. And the best car I ever had The sound after the exhaust change on the RX 8 was just amazing
You lost me at RX8 is the best car. RX8 had a ton of issues from day one to the last day. The way they did the porting from factory was garbage. Very well known across the board the RX8 will always go down as the worst Mazda ever. I've owned the 1st and 3rd Gen. Both peripheral ported. Rx8 is pure garbage!!!

I love the Furai but terribly mad seeing they didn't fkn make it into production even though most people test drive it said it was a beautiful and incredible concept car. The struggle is real when it comes to that gentalman agreement crap in the automotive industry. Both toyota and Honda already had the formula and technology to manufacture the future hyper cars 20 years ago. Yet, we all had to watch Ferrari, lambo, Bugatti, porsche, Astin and so on with their posh name and pretend that they were ahead in super cars.
This man made my dream build come true. I always want to build a mid engine rotary. I wish Rob Dahm would have done it, but his AWD 4 rotor is badass too.

Mad Mike is me if I had the money. While a rotary annoys the hell out of me on an audible level I respect the swap dude. I’m working on a Barra swapped SHO as we speak and it’s a nightmare. I bought it in 2019 as a 2013 SHO with PP and it’s been in the shop now for a year cutting and shoving. Holds nothing to a rotary swapped P1, but certainly inspires me homie.
Pretty sure they have similar if not identical chassis and most anyone can identify the P1 by that distinct rear end so I don’t know how you’d be able to call it 650s GT3
So, it makes a lot of noise, but it doesn't seem to go anywhere 🤔 you can have all the power in the world, but unless you can transfer it all to the tarmac, it's pointless
Bruh do you understand what a drift build is? The whole point is to make a ton of noise and burn rubber on the tarmac. There’s plenty of McLarens that can go round a track quick and with little drama. Building one to go sideways through corners and destroy tires is something truly unique.

@onkarlally for the price of that car, I'd build a sleeper that did both. As an engineer, I much prefer a wolf in sheep's clothing, not much to look at, until it matters. I'm sure the owner of that car loves it, and has the financial means not to care about the cost, clearly, but to me, it's just overdone, which to me isn't attractive or something I'm interested in. It's just like the Kawasaki H2, awesome piece of engineering genius, but whomever did the styling of it wasn't, in my opinion, thinking straight, awful looking bike. But once again, aimed at people with more money than sense or taste ( in my opinion)

Terrible drift chassis. That chassis is made to make traction, drift cars are made to slip. You can litterally see MIke trying to slide it but it is fighting him to gain traction.
Big rotary fan. Owned several in the past (RX-3 coupe and RX-2). McLaren with three rotor sounds insane, literally. Clip was fun, but would be greatly improved if we heard this fantastic engine rev for more than a 0.6 second blip of the accelerator or doing donuts.

It's what he knows best, that and trying to work with the GT3 race engine was apparently hell since it wouldn't even work without the FIA electronics.

Technically, only the rear 3/4 is from a P1. Most of the car, especially the main crash structure, is a 650S GT3 race car.
