One thing I thought they captured pretty well was the essence of ATLA. My only concerns were the writing, editing, a few VFX shots, and some of the acting. I know not everything needs to be a direct translation, but despite some of the changes that were iffy to me, it’s a 7/10 from me. If season 2 gets a green light, I hope they take fans’ feedback to heart and improve upon it without being egotistical like other higher-ups (*ahem Disney).
I’m glad they haven’t started production on season 2 yet so that if they do end up doing season 2 they can take the criticism from the first season and improve on it.
Well, considering the anime is shown in film classes the world round on how to do, frankly anything. The movie by M night shamalamadingdong is shown in those same classes on how NOT to do, well, anything...I'd say that you'd be hard pressed to find something worse... Before Disney came out with the marvels, or Sony with madam webb
My own opinion: as someone who has watched the original more time than I can count, I really did enjoy what Netflix came up with. This adaptation is a bit more serious tone wise but still carry the spirit of the original in many ways and the bending is fantastic in my opinion. Is it perfect, no some changes surprised me and I thought they could have made some changes so the story would have flown better but overall it’s a 7.5/10 for me
Don’t try and reconcile it with the cartoon. It’s not considered canon and stands great on its own. They captured the world, the look, and the spirit of the show and the changes work for a live action adaptation.
I liked it too. I think more episodes would be better, at least 10 or so for each book. And i hope they will really do more episodes in season 2, so it doesn't feel rushed. I don't mind it it first season, because it was the weakest one even in the original. But in book 2 original there is not many things u can skip imo and based on the fact that they also add lore we didn't see in cartoon, it would only make sense if they make more episodes. I read a lot of hate comments but i still don't understand what they don't like. I understand the kids acting, but other than that... i don't understand how can someone call it garbage. I am actually watching the whole life adaptation for the second time and the more i watch, the more i like it. I don't see any valid reason in why to not like it. And people saying that it's complete garbage.. i don't think they know what they want or they are so stuck in animated version that they just simply won't accept any life action, no matter how good it would be. Lot of people say it skipped a lot of things from original and that it's not like the original.. idk what they want... should Katara and Sokka such on frozen frogs too just because it is in cartoon? I don't understand tbh... I really hope for season 2 and more episodes in season 2
I think the reason why most die hard fans don't like the show is because is because they keep trying to compare it to the original, you gotta know how to view it from a different lense and try to appreciate it as it's own thing. I think those who didn't watch the cartoon were able to enjoy it more.
I'm choosing to remain positive because I mostly enjoy it and think that all the characters are accurately portrayed. The bending and martial arts look very cool as well the beautifully created landscapes that seem to be pulled straight from the cartoon. My only gripe is the changing chronology of certain events and character appearances, which I think was done intentionally to reduce the amount of production time. Makes sense if the plan is to shoot the entire series while the cast is relatively young.
I’ll start with saying what I liked about the show.. the tone, set design, costume design, and music were all pretty solid throughout the show. Sokka was spot on imo and had some really funny moments. Zuko and Iro are the best part of the show, both are spot on and we get to spend a lot of time with them in this first season and their story arc for their journey is already incredible and would live to see more of it. Zuko’s bending is the most fun to watch from start to finish. Katara was also a good performance and I like the small tweak they gave her arc which is that she is her own waterbending master (but I do have an issue with it as well). Aang was pretty solid for the most part (could be a little inconsistent with acting at times) but I think not giving him enough time to goof around kinda played into that. Ozai is incredible and menacing everytime he is on screen and I love that they added visual to what Azula and him were doing throughout season 1. I think it amazing build up for her character for what she does in season 2. Admiral zhao (however you spell it) was a good performance but he was more of a coward this time around and I remember him being more of a demanding threat in the animated series. The blue spirit episode was great And this show automatically gets a thumbs up for having “MY CABBAGES” in it 👍🏼kyoshi warriors and suki were spot on and the chemistry between Sokka and suki was great and I love that they added Katara fight master Paku (scene was spot on) Boomie was also a great highlight with Jet and the freedom fighters and the mechanist and his son were all spot on (it’s just the delivery and exposition of the characters that I wasn’t a fan of) they also really did well with how each location looked, it was all stunning to watch… now for what I didn’t like. Starting with the cgi on Aang’s face in episode 1 when he enters the avatar state, I laughed out loud at how bad that cgi was and it was like up close and personal too 🤣 also the script they gave for Gran Gran was awful! She was practically reading her lines right off the paper, but also her a most of the adults in the show were all written to give Aang this huge guilt trip which I didn’t like that Aang had to deal with this constantly throughout the show putting his character into a more serious roll with no time for play. But my biggest problem was in episodes 3, 4, and 5 where the packed wayyyyy too much into those episodes. Didn’t like how Katara and Sokka went into the spirit world with Aang, I didn’t like how they crammed all the spirit stuff into that one episode. It really got convoluted and jarring from a story telling perspective. I also didn’t like how Aang spent so much time talking to the past avatars only to have them lecture him and make him feel bad. I would of rather had Aang practice waterbending with Katara over a few episodes but Aang didn’t waterbend once through this entire season and they hinted at Katara teaching him next season but he’s also gotta learn earthbending next season and he had a hard time learning that in the animated series so I don’t see how that’ll work unless he learns waterbending off screen lol I mean a more part if not the focus of the show is showing the avatar master all four elements and we don’t see him learn water once and season 1 was called water! I also wasn’t a big fan of them making Aang not supportive of Katara to learn waterbending. He would have always supported her in the animated show. And I feel like they only made that choice to show why he didn’t want to learn waterbending this season. A lot worked for me with this show and a lot didn’t.. but I would say overall I enjoyed it, first 2 episodes were solid, the next 3 episodes were very convoluted leading to incoherent story telling and rushed scenes that didn’t get enough time to breathe, but all of that lead to a final 3 episodes that were really enjoyable and truly epic to watch come to life. The show wasn’t perfect but their heart and vision were in the right spot and enough for me to want a season 2 but hopefully get a bigger budget for more episodes to do some better story telling next time around.
It had its flaws but I thought it was great. I understand the changes and happy with most of them. First time I've liked an 'Adaption' as they usually change stuff unnecessarily and I didn't feel like they did that here....except Bumie. Did not really like what they did with Bumie. I could see original inspiration shining through but they made him too resentful.
I thought the show was pretty okay, not great but definitely not as bad as some claim. The story was just a little rushed and the writing can definitely improve. The acting was a bit stiff from certain actors but that is something that can improve over time. It was definitely good enough to get a second season though
SHOW WAS VERY GOOD. You still have the cartoon, so go back and watch that! let everyone else enjoy this different take. I loved it. ( first time watching any avatar)
The obvious error in this series was the direction and the writing. The things they added like the airbender genocide and the 41st Battalion were interesting. The changes to some plot points like Jet and Roku (seriously how did they miss out Roku telling Aang about the comet) were strange. But there are 2 characters they completely misfired. Bumi - Doesn’t come off as wise at all, he was supposed to be Aang’s friend and mentor (the advice he gives about who he should pick as his earthbending teacher in Book 2) but the whole time the series just makes him seem bitter and loopy. Such a waste as the actor actually looks and sounds like Bumi. Katara - She just kept talking about hope the whole way through (Ember Island Katara much?) Where is Katara’s sass, bossiness, motherly nature which derives her empathy? It’s such a waste because the actress seems so sprightly and sassy from interviews. Hope they get some better writers and direction if they get a season 2 because if they make Toph boring it’ll be a sin.
Only so much you can put into a 8 episode season. Now if they could have given 13 to 15 episodes, more could be shown from the cartoon. People should just be grateful another production team gave it another go after that horrible movie back in the day.
So glad you covered this, I’m a huge fan of the animated show and I’ve watched it from start to finish at least 10 times, and it is my favorite animated show of all time, when the movie came out, it hurt to watch as a fan and I thought any hope for live action is lost, it made me realize how hard it truly would be to bring this show to life and be able to do it the right way without missing anything or changing anything but tbh from a die hard fans standpoint point, it’s nearly impossibly imo, the only way I see this show truly working is to give the game of thrones treatment (not the Netflix treatment) you can’t rush a show like this without missing a lot of key moments not just for the story but for the characters as well… the show is only 8 episodes and that forces them to rush things almost constantly through the show.. if this show had 12 episodes, it would’ve done a lot of it and scenes would of had time to breathe… but realistically the animated show was 3 seasons with about 22 episodes per season, this show should have been designed to break every season from the animated show into 2 seasons with 10 episodes per season… each season getting a larger budget if they did it right , would give them so much more time with characters and chemistry to really develop, and not have to mash up a bunch of episodes into a couple episodes, the story telling to be way more coherent and the build up to be more epic, but it’s hard to do something like that when you have a story that covers a relatively short amount of time for young kids to go through a lot of heart pounding epic journey like they did and film it over the span of 6 years lol like I said after watching the movie i realized it’s a nearly impossible feat to accomplish especially when it comes with a die hard fan base and after binging these 8 episodes I only realize it even more that this will never be exactly what I need it to be and I’m okay with that because I can just go watch animated series again because it’s so amazing! I did enjoy this show for what it was and I do believe their heart was in the right place but I do see why the originally creators decided to leave
I love it. I watch the whole ss in 1 day. I feel people are too strict on it because it different from the original. But... i dont think i would want a exact copy, i can say most of the change are good and logical. I hope ss2 and 3 come soon❤
Ever since a UA-camr shared her experience at the premiere where she was told by the showrunner to be honest and critical on reviewing the show to create something better in the future, I took it as a sign that another season is secretly being in the works. The cast interviews also hinted at its future. And despite the negative reviews it got after release, it's now the no.1 show in most countries. So it's most likely to be renewed. Well, I'd be really surprised if this get cancelled. Personally, my score for this season is 7/10. I have problems with the storytelling and editing, but overall I think it was decent.
It’s not good. They hyped it up and did press runs like it would be. Iroh is not mean enough. Azula sucks and her fire isn’t blue. Aang never water bended (this was book one: water). The dialogue and acting is cringy with the over explaining and weird tones of voice and no comic relief. You can tell they watched the show but got lazy on the details. It’s like a partially cooked hot pocket. Good in some spots but still nasty freezing cold in others. It’s mediocre.
I’ve watch the live action three time over. I honestly love what they did and the changes made were made to adapt to the story and for the most it works I have to say some of the acting was a bit False but the main team avatar I think are fantastic . The first season of the animation was very child like and thats How Gordon has portrayed his version it’s all about character development and we will expect to see a. Different aang in season 2(book2) Netflix stated they would only allows 8 episodes and this was why the creators left well part of the reason they would be able to allow the full story in such a small amount of episodes compared to the animation hopefully Netflix might allow more episodes next seasons allowing for a more intricate story to be told Over all I loved this adaption of the show and thank god the bending as done correctly.
1,5,6,7,8 are good episodes 3,4 needed so much more episodes in there own hard to shove so much at you at once, still it’s good I see potential 6,7,8 are awesome and it’s avatar
Episode 1 was so bad. the opening 15 minutes alone destroyed so much of the potential for emotions and the storytelling that the original offered if done right. I am really struggling to understand why they would start the very first episode like that.
We shared the same sentiment. But when I did a rewatch, for some reason 3 and 4 clicked to me somehow, probably because I was watching it as it's own, not comparing it to the OG anymore. Overall, I really enjoyed and love the adaptation.
I think it was good and has hella potential!! I see so much potential! They need to find them selfs and the ending I think they did , I saw heart and soul and yeah the acting and writing needed work I think we needed 12 episodes! That would have been amazing we could break the episodes in so much better and realistic for live action 7/10 is good season 2 is such a better season anyways! So I think it’ll be so much better the fights I thought were great they needed more episodes and in my opinion filler episodes for humor
Small changes can be good, but there are things that no adaptations should change. Sounds like they have gotten too close to that, if they haven't done so already.
I have watched the 2024 Avatar The Last Airbender series twice. The first time, I don`t like it but, the second time I watch it, I started liking it I go from a 3 star rating to a 5 star rating. I hope Aang learns waterbending on season 2 because on the final episode, Katara tells Aang that "You`re going to learn waterbending and I`m gonna make sure about that".
I'm still convinced most of these reviews are only from the first 2 ep because their problems with the show match up the first 2 ep but that's it it gets way better going into the season
I liked it, ofc it can be better but it's not that bad to call it rubbish, some fans need to chill😂 I hope they take the criticisms into consideration if they get a second season.
No, I dont need a Season 2 of Toph giving us a 3 minute exposition of why she's never really had any trouble with seeing and the effects that her controlling parents have on her feelings. No.
At 57, i am not this shows target audience. 12 to 22 is more like it. But i loved the animated series and LoK as well. This show, actually represents the cartoon very well. It has the grand sense of scale and wild characters, who even act in the way their animated counterparts did. 8 episodes is basically 18 episodes of a season with a few changes. It has some flaws, but they are auperficial and we all know how jaded we nerdy types can be. I hope they continue.
My main concern with the series is the reliance on heavy dialogue exposition, overshadowing the "show, don't tell" approach. A notable example is the opening sequence, which effectively portrayed the events leading to the war. However, in episodes like the one featuring Bumi, the approach falters. The "100 Years Ago" title card is followed by a brief interaction between young Bumi and Aang, only to be overshadowed by a monologue from the elderly Bumi describing the misery of the past century. Instead, a montage could have depicted Bumi's reactions to the Fire Nation's attack on the Air Temple, Aang's disappearance, and the highs and lows of Bumi's life over the 100 years until Aang's name resurfaced. Given the format of a TV show, Netflix had the opportunity to explore and expand on the narrative hinted at in the animated series.
It can be a bit disappointing at times but I felt they did a lot of stuff that was really cool. But I cant stand the acting by the trio, very bad. And mad they got rid of sokkas sexism.
Can't have sexism in a live action adaptation of a film targeted at kids Kids are more likely to copy live action vs animation when they know it's a cartoon
@@e3vL1 that is so not true lmao. Sure they may imitate from content which does extend to cartoons, but not to the point you think. Just because it's live action doesnt mean they want to act in a similar manner. We literally have people being burned alive in this show. Don't you think that'll desensitize children leading them towards a dark path? It's not like Sokka has support for being sexist, it shows he's a flawed character inside his own bubble. Until he literally travels the world and instantly realizes he was foolish and wrong. If anything it'll teach kids that sexism is wrong it completely goes against your point you couldn't be more wrong.
@@Nodnarb69 kids are more likely to copy off color humor than something they know is violent. Depending how young they are they may not understand the character growth or even what sexism is. They'll just think it's normal behavior since a hero they look up to acts that way
So going into this, I was a little skeptical. I will say that the casting for a lot of characters is pretty fantastic to where I almost don’t hear or feel a difference from the show. There are some scenes that don’t hit I agree due to lack of experience but the one gripe I have is with the elements and the fight scenes. I feel they tried to make it too lifelike and real and my mind set is, if you need to cgi a little harder or get some great stunt doubles, do it, because some of the bending is so stiff and not fluid at all. I’m hoping season 2 brings a larger budget because I do believe this show can be great
Unfortunately, people who dislike the shows are often very louder on the internet than people who actually like them, even when they are minority. And studios seem to hear that with an uncontrolable fear, what makes some very solid great shows (like this btw) never see the opportunity to wrap up their projects and improve into subsequential seasons. These are the days we're living in. Sadly.
It was awesome!! I loved it! Critics are floopy things found between men's legs! It was like the movie but expanded more. The actors looked like live cartoons. Some people want the holy grail on everything made these days. Also, a lot of people automatically think it's gna bomb, so they wana jump on the hate train straight away just to mix with the sheep. It was good, I enjoyed it and can't wait for second season. If you want to jump on the hate train, it's up to you, but you can't be blm, think there's more than 2 genders, agree with men getting sex changes and competing in women's sports and hate this aswel! Also if you think being woke is cool! If you do then, your just being greedy! 😮
well the actors can't act. one would think that's an important quality when casting actors. some of their looks were way off too, Azula and her gang for example are just laughable.
I’d like for it to have a season 2 only if they followed the direction of episode 2,3, and 4 tho ep 1 is understandable should’ve made 10 episodes to fix that, also 7 and 8 was fine but it’s a bit rushed. 5 and 6 was mixed and alot of things that are left out that part was not a faithful adoption tbh, also I don’t appreciate the changes on Roku( he’s now more of an airbender than Gyatso)
For me I think the first episode will be the best out of the entire series with some episodes having 1 or 2 good moments but that will be it. Still gonna watch what they release but still very concerned given all the changes including: 1. The original creators leaving the show 2. Completely changing character motivations and arcs 3. Jamming multiple storylines into one episode to the point where it doesn't really make sense
I think it is a 7.5, mainly because of the big amount of exposition, specially around topics like friendship, love, empathy, compassion, lot of concepts that Avatar sure presents and treats but in a different way... more subtle, more mixes in the story in a way that feels so natural. In this adaptation, they TALK a lot about all that things and, sorry, but I don't want to HEAR the characters saying it, I want to watch them grow through them... CGI is pretty lame sometimes and, at times, the characters seem to be just there standing because of the big and evident green screen. That said, I think is decent, not great but decent. A special mention to Dallas Liu, I think he did a WONDERFUL job as Zuko, I truly loved him in any possible way. Iroh isn't bad, but again: a lot of unnecesary dialogue for settle him as a advicer. We knoe Iroh is an advicer, but you should make him be that in a subtle way. Netflix doesn't know how to handle subtleties, it's the main problem with a lot of their productions.
Those people saying the Shyamalan version is better are capping! The Shyamalan version was hella boring if you're new to the franchise and annoyingly bad if you're a fan of ATLA. This new live adaptation though, i can see how new people would like this version enough to want to watch the original, and how some changes would irk some fans, but overall its good. Not great, but good. It's certainly more watchable than the shyamalan version.
Gyatso, the greatest airbender in the world, didn't even put up a fight that lasted more than ten seconds... In the original show, Gyatso was surrounded by the bodies of almost a platoon of firebenders... Bumi is portrayed as a salty, dumb old man who blames his 12-year-old friend (a literal child) for running away instead of a nutty yet very wise and understanding old friend who gives guidance to Aang to be a better Avatar... Katara is supposed to be the most mature of the group, very headstrong, brave, and sturdy like a rock. Yet she's also caring and maternalistic, like a mother. She's a very remarkable female character who has faith in everyone and never refuses to turn her back on people who need her. I say everybody should have a sister or even a mother like Katara. That is how brilliant Katara's character is. Not a submissive little sister who needs to be looked after by her big brother, like how they portrayed her in the Netflix Live Action. Airbending seemed okay, but a lot more improvement is needed to show the full potential of airbending (not good enough). Earthbending doesn't have any solid martial art choreography and stance that makes it look like Earthbending. It just looks like people using telekinesis to chuck rocks at each other, like Magneto in X-men. Appa should have more character, as he's a very important member of the team that carries the whole gang on his back throughout the entire show. By the way, I didn't know Momo died because I didn't care to watch more episodes of Netflix's Live Action bullcrap... I am actually fuming at the showrunners right now 😠👿.
i really hope it doesn't get cancelled i actually want two more seasons i WANT to see them fix their mistakes from season 1! why can't the velma series get cancelled instead?
They could have just add some more episodes so that they could include some more story details from the original. and also the acting and the dialogues overall it watchable compared to the movie
Right now, It's #1 on the Top 10 Shows being Watched now, so there's definitely interest. I think it has a lot of potential & the show runners seem open to the criticisms. I think we'll get an announcement until probably 1 to 3 months from now. Personally, I've seen more mixed to positive reviews. At least enough interest in a 2nd season
If it wasn't for those bad dialogues, exposition the show could easily be better. Hopefully they change writers, directors and producer. Or make a deep reflection on their skillset.
I have a feeling there will be a season 2 since enough people liked it. I think they have a chance to learn from the criticism and improve the show. If they don’t, season 2 will be the last season. Even if it’s not an ending point for the show.
I really enjoyed it. The one big letdown, however, was when they toned down Sokka's goofiness and misogyny. His comedic character was reduced to dry humor. The whole show also suffered from trying to appeal to older audiences just like Disney+'s Percy Jackson. Overall, Zuko was my fav character. Can't wait to see how they handle the next 2 books🔥.
It might be worth keeping in mind that season 1 of ATLA wasn't considered the best the the 3 seasons to begin with. I would say the show really found it's following by the time we got part way through the 2nd season and they started showing more reruns on Nickelodeon. I personally enjoy the more mature tone the live action show brings even if it hasn't found it's own magic yet.
The animated shows and movies on the timeline aren't Netflix properties. They're being made by the studio the og creators made, which I think is still under Nickelodeon
I really really liked it! So I am so sad half of the fandom thinks it's abysmal WHEN IT TOTALLY ISNT? I never once compared it to the original and wanted a fresh take so I was very happy that they did but still respected a lot from the original material. It wasn't perfect, but honestly no direct adaptation is. There's a very very loud minority who want this show to burn and I get that people are nostalgic and don't like change but it wasn't as bad as they want it to be. I felt the sincerity of the liveaction showrunners tbh, this show isn't a 1:1 adaptation but a loveletter, and a creatively written one. It just pisses me off people assume if you liked the show you are not one of those 'people who grew up with it and watched it more than 10 times'. As if they are avatar experts and people who liked this are delusional. Bro, let goooo
personally i am super conflicted , i hated the Shamalayamala movie ... but here there is lots of lots of great , just lot of the stuff than matter is warped They quite nailed Casting, effects, props, location, and such , but the stuff like scriptwriters, direction or fighting choreography justrubs me the wrong way Is better than the Shamlamaylan version , sure much better .... but the writing feels like they took "predefined beloved characters" and inserted them into generic "netflix templates" Kinda had to stop after episode 3 and not even sure if i will gert back to it 😕
"M. Knight movie was better" - R THEY SERIOUS?! Like the difference is miles away, and the series is much MUCH BETTER. But I can tell they wont cancel this - yet. Emily in Paris is now on its S4 despite having bad reviews from the audience since S1.
Really sad regards to sokka, his entire personality has been removed - I liked exploring seeing the comet at the beginning and the airbenders getting wiped out. The motion of airbenders is a bit stale
I just don’t understand the need to make mediocre adaptations of IP’s that “modern writers” can’t comprehend what makes these IP’s so loved in the first place. Knew this wasn’t going to be good when all the original creators stopped interacting with the show runners. This is another “The Witcher” and not “One Piece”. Really wish western writers in entertainment could put aside their hubris to take in an original creators vision and why fans fall in love with it.
Just finished it today and the first 7 episodes were not that bad, but the last episode was another typical Netflix flop, for me personally. Huge fan of the OG, obviously my mind couldn't stop comparing the two, but all I can say now about episode 8 is: "What is Godzilla doing here?!" Is this some kind of promo for the upcoming Godzilla X Kong movie or what? Will Aang be a cameo in the new Godzilla movie or what? And I won't even comment on Princess Yue or just how plain they made Uncle Iroh look in the last episode. Started quite decent but they messed up with the last episode... I can already imagine how they will destroy Toph's character if there is a season 2. So, no thanks. Will stick with the OG.
The dialogue and acting was bad. The portrayal of the characters is off or watered down. Series lacking the humor and lightheartedness of the characters, like the dialogue and acting is really showing this. They only know how to be sad or emotional. The Last of Us show understood the characters and the important points of the game to make that show really good (not as great as the game). The action in the Avatar was good, not great but not enough to hold my interest. **I won't blame kids for how they did but casting, writing, directing, production had control over this.** I also think that fans who thought the movie was bad and the show is good is really pulling for the show to the point they're not being honest.
I’m 3 episodes in and I am loving every bit of this. I feel like the acting is a little off sometimes but I feel like they haven’t settled into their roles just yet and it’ll be a lot better in season two. This is a HUGE W over that crap movie that came out years ago.
Only commenting as a Cosmic Wonder subscriber. Never watched the original series, movie or thus new Netflix series. I have seen the images of this series when signing in to Netflix and didn't give it any attention. I just thought it was some old Avatar thing and didn't even realize it was a new show. I admit I didn't give it any attention and if I had the truth nay have been clear but I didn't see any promotional content anywhere or heard any buzz at all to get me interested in watching.
It is a good low 6/10 tbh. It is okay, not great. If there will be a s2, i hope that they will improve on the script and be a little bit more consistent
Didnt Harry Potter, Ron and Hermione were kids also if they can do better in their acting means tge director and writers have done something correct right they all were 12 or 13 right .... In avatar live action kid who played aang was only the kid one while other like katara was 15, zuko was 20, sokka was 18 when they filmed it but the main problem lies with the director and writer of show
the harry potter casting was indeed miles better. that's actually a good comparison, as harry potter was casted perfectly throughout every leading and supporting role with somewhat similar age groups while Netflix's Avatar is lacking heavily for the most part. Being limited to actors with servicable English and the fitting Asian background will have made the whole casting process much more difficult though.
@@Annie_Xxxix56 yeah I agree. I don't even know who directed this series. some folks I've never heard of. The first few Harry Potter movies were done by a very seasoned Director. Lookswise the casting for Avatar is okay, but most of the children can't act at all, it's tough to watch, I feel kinda bad for them. Aang and Katara actors are especially awful.
I don't wanna be harsh on the actors but this is not a rehearsal clip we are watching we are watching an actual season, lets say if they do get better in season 2 great but the acting we deserved we will get to see in season 3 so we have to spend 2 seasons with avg acting 😢
There was a little problem in their VFX (not always, but in some specific moments). Rest it was pretty impressive. I enjoyed it. Will you be watching the movie of Demon slayer sir? I was looking for some honest reviews!
I really hope the massive hate train won’t get the show canceled. The show is flawed but it’s far from trash and anybody who’s saying that is just saying it to hate
I’m glad they haven’t started production on season 2 yet so that if they do end up doing season 2 they can take the criticism from the first season and improve on it.
some of the mistakes are irreversible
@@derg6222 nothing will save this show 😂
I hope so

No matter what anyone says, I think we can all agree that it's way better than the movie.
Agreed
If anyone thinks the movie is better no matter what their opinion on the show is then its safe to say theyre huffin paint 😂😅
The movie is an extremely low bar, being better than the movie says nothing about the actual quality.

No
then why didnt they just make an original ip?
No just go watch the OG that simple
I'm choosing to remain positive because I mostly enjoy it and think that all the characters are accurately portrayed. The bending and martial arts look very cool as well the beautifully created landscapes that seem to be pulled straight from the cartoon. My only gripe is the changing chronology of certain events and character appearances, which I think was done intentionally to reduce the amount of production time. Makes sense if the plan is to shoot the entire series while the cast is relatively young.
I would like a session 2
Me too!
me too this show has potential to improve and get better.
I think it's a pretty good, didn't care for the changing of the story. Haven't seen it all yet. I hope they make a season 2
People who say shamalans is better are just trolling. The show is okay, they just remixed the episodes which makes the pacing feel wierd at times.
I loved it. The dialogue was bad at points(gran gran) but come on! There is no way the movie is better…the movie didnt get the names right!
My name is Ong
i love the adaptation my only issue which is very obvious is, it's rushed. they stacked a lot for 8 episodes.
SHOW WAS VERY GOOD. You still have the cartoon, so go back and watch that! let everyone else enjoy this different take. I loved it. ( first time watching any avatar)
God dude I fucking hope not because it was good enough for me to want it finished and it would really suck if it was just left where it is.
Nothing will ever beat the cartoon but this comes really close. 👍👍
People should just be grateful another production team gave it another go after that horrible movie back in the day.
i want s2
Tbh I was pretty satisfied than I expected!!
It a great show
So glad you love it!
I love this series!!! It can't be cancelled. The negative reactions are just ridiculous. I want more.
Preach, preach, preach!
Same for me 7/10
Its ok. Really good at moments. I hope this story finishes
I meant Ozai is not evil enough. Yeah hes burning people but he just seems like some guy doing things and not a real villain.
Different aang in season 2(book2) Netflix stated they would only allows 8 episodes and this was why the creators left well part of the reason they would be able to allow the full story in such a small amount of episodes compared to the animation hopefully Netflix might allow more episodes next seasons allowing for a more intricate story to be told
Over all I loved this adaption of the show and thank god the bending as done correctly.
1,5,6,7,8 are good episodes 3,4 needed so much more episodes in there own hard to shove so much at you at once, still it’s good I see potential 6,7,8 are awesome and it’s avatar
Yeah very awesome with the serious stuff like training and mastering water bending for the main character is done off screen 🤔
The 2010 movie sitting at 5% is crazy , watching that shxt will rot your brain 😂
I absolutely loved this take on the show! I really hope it continues. 🤞🤞
I'm still convinced most of these reviews are only from the first 2 ep because their problems with the show match up the first 2 ep but that's it it gets way better going into the season
Yeah after episode 5 it gets really good
This show was great entirely period but of course there will always be some dam haters 😒
I liked it, ofc it can be better but it's not that bad to call it rubbish, some fans need to chill😂 I hope they take the criticisms into consideration if they get a second season.
some of the mistakes made are irreversible.
I hope so too
@@derg6222Like what?
People need to watch all the episodes and not just the first few because after episode 5 it gets really good.
It's good. Watched it yesterday.
I feel like they did too much slow motion within the fight scenes.
Rewatch the cartoon pls. Slow motion was a huge part of the cartoon.
What? Seems like bro was expecting dragon ball fighting style 😂😂. Slow mo has always been a good part of the animated series, made it great ❤
No, I dont need a Season 2 of Toph giving us a 3 minute exposition of why she's never really had any trouble with seeing and the effects that her controlling parents have on her feelings. No.
I'm just wondering where Aang's staff was the entire spirit arc...
More like 12-32.
You need to consider the grown up audience of the original show
My main concern with the series is the reliance on heavy dialogue exposition, overshadowing the "show, don't tell" approach.
Can't have sexism in a live action adaptation of a film targeted at kids
Kids are more likely to copy live action vs animation when they know it's a cartoon
@@e3vL1 youre joking right?
@@Nodnarb69 no. Some kids are expressive. If they don't socialize often they may find live action normal behavior
They'll just think it's normal behavior since a hero they look up to acts that way
2:03 exactly what I said. We gotta be careful with criticising the kids. Most of the cast is kids. I think the fits a great job
I hope they can make Lu Ten death even sadder.
It also seemed more serious than the animated show too
I like it ,I love the Cgi,the revisions of the story and The Character development
LMAOOOO!!! I hate that the "hate train" is real nowadays. I watched a couple more episodes today and I'm really enjoying it!
well the actors can't act. one would think that's an important quality when casting actors. some of their looks were way off too, Azula and her gang for example are just laughable.
Still gonna watch what they release but still very concerned given all the changes including:
1. The original creators leaving the show
2. Completely changing character motivations and arcs
I loved the show it really hit me in my childhood but some parts yes made me cringe a bit but over all it was a great show can’t wait for season 2
i really hope it doesn't get cancelled i actually want two more seasons i WANT to see them fix their mistakes from season 1! why can't the velma series get cancelled instead?
It's expensive. That means it's a lot of risk. We'll see. Thanks Warren.
Bro, let goooo
personally i am super conflicted , i hated the Shamalayamala movie ... but here there is lots of lots of great , just lot of the stuff than matter is warped
They quite nailed Casting, effects, props, location, and such , but the stuff like scriptwriters, direction or fighting choreography justrubs me the wrong way
Is better than the Shamlamaylan version , sure much better .... but the writing feels like they took "predefined beloved characters" and inserted them into generic "netflix templates"
Kinda had to stop after episode 3 and not even sure if i will gert back to it 😕
"M. Knight movie was better"
- R THEY SERIOUS?! Like the difference is miles away, and the series is much MUCH BETTER. But I can tell they wont cancel this - yet. Emily in Paris is now on its S4 despite having bad reviews from the audience since S1.
I loved it.
Maybe if they just made changes to make it a version for adult. All those bending seem not do any damage . And actress needs to study her char better.
For me 9/10 🌊🪨🌪️🔥👌
I think i heard on some video that they said season 1 was gonna have the most changes.
I loved it!! It was definitely something to watch! It made me practice my Air and water bending lol😂
We should please give the production a break,😂 let’s judge the series after the first 3 seasons 😊
I enjoyed it. Only can get better. Glad they didn’t white wash it with all white characters.
Katara's actor was so bad. There were moments where it seemed like she was trying to hold back from laughing during dramatic scenes.
Seriously? Some people are actually preferring the M. Night shitfest over this?
Yes yes. Cancel the order please.
I agree it's a mixed bag. Some things were really great, others weren't. All in all it's entertaining, but the original is just way better.
It was good and bad but at the end of day At least it wasn't a total disappointment I'm a really big fan of the Avatar last airbender.
I don't see anything wrong with it,it is way better than the first movie. For those saying that they don't like it have some personal problems 🤧🤧
I liked it as season 2 he will learn to bend all the others like fire water earth
Not that it's relevant, but Netflix is currently about 14 billion dollars in debt, right?
@@derg6222 I think this has to do entirely up to the director and script writer , they are the ones who 🤬
@@Annie_Xxxix56 yeah I agree.
Hoping so much that they cancel it
I don't wanna be harsh on the actors but this is not a rehearsal clip we are watching we are watching an actual season, lets say if they do get better in season 2 great but the acting we deserved we will get to see in season 3 so we have to spend 2 seasons with avg acting 😢
The vfx I noticed some drops some scenes but overall it’s good
There was a little problem in their VFX (not always, but in some specific moments).
