Old school was soo beautiful
The love and respect they had on each other that's the best thing i see ❤️
U know
old school were taking steroids ..no different than today but less
It's amazing how bodybuilding has changed. I can appreciate the mass monsters, but you can't argue the aesthetics of he 70's and 80's builders.
Bodybuilding from the 1970's through 1990's was unbelievable. Solid dense muscle with flat stomachs with a 6 pack. Today' bodybuilding is almost cartoonish IMO. Great video!
I would say the same thing about a lot of things lol. Trucks are a good example. They look like Hot Wheels now.
@@aesop2733 Sergio Olivia was always better than Arnold. He beat him in the Mr. Universe then Joe Weider wouldn’t let Sergio compete in the 1970 Mr. Olympia against Arnold. Maybe Arnold should have thought about doing legs.
It's crazy that Ferrigno never won a Mr. O, but it just shows how much competition he had. Truly a golden era.
He retired before his prime to become an actor. With Arnold out of the way he could've easily won a few titles. And when he returned the mass monster era emerged, he was going against Dorian.
Ferrigno never had the refinement necessary for the very top. He had the structure. But a block of stone given to a sculptor has a structure too.
Great motivation!!! Old school is the best school 👍
I'm so very much with you 🤩🤩
Old days, gold days.

Serg at the end! 💪🏾🏋🏿♂️ Loved this video! Gives me motivation 2 Never give up.
We need more Samir Bannout, this guy had it all. Arms, tight waist and in my opinion the best back ever.
Wasn't big enough in my opinion
@@NeonAnimeDreams bigger is not better
@M B to a point it is, if that were not the case then let's just have bodybuilding be about guys that have 14inch biceps and get shredded to the bone.
Obviously, we want big guys on stage, and while somewhat subjective as to what's the best size, I think most of the early to mid 90s guys got it just right.
The perfect muscular body is where your muscles are as big as they can be before overpowering or overflowing into other body parts.
@@BazFitt agreed IMO I believe surge nubret had the total package but they wouldn't let him win in that era
@@ryan8430 Serge Nubret was also one of the greatest, tight waist, huge arms, and maybe one of the best chests!
Al Beckles is 92 yrs old now, man came 2nd to Lee Haney in 1985 Mr. Olympia, he was 56 years old!! 😳Fook todays suicidal bodybuilding bullshit, old school bodybuilding rules!
We have a tendency as a society to believe things are always progressing in a positive way, with the modern iterations of things being superior. But once you grow up, and if you look around, you find that many times quality goes backward, and there are many arts and artists and modes of living that cannot be even approached today.
@@polarvortex3294 yep, you hit the nail right on the head there. Our attitudes in general mature along with that as you said. I know, I used to wonder what ‘old man’ Beckles and Sergio Oliva was doing competing even in the early 80s. Beckles shut me up when he won IFBB NY night of champions in 1982 at 50 yrs old. Oliva was still placing top 10 at the Olympia. They looked after themselves much better than most BB these days dabbling in all sorts of exotic advanced medicine in a hurry to get to the top, not realising that their only a few steps away from hitting rock bottom and worse.
Wonderful Chanel, congrats!!!
Since I was small a loved the old bodybuilding school!
Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina!!!
At 2:58 and 5:39 we have the late great German Jusup Wilkosz doing Scott curls with dumbells. Third in the 1984 Mr Olympia. Here Arnold assists him. Arnold sometimes trained with Wilkosz at World's Gym in Venice, CA in the late 70's & early 80's.

In thiis era ; the bodybuilding was an art!
Very true. Until classic physique became a division I think the art form was ignored heavily.
Exelentes fisicos y pocas excusas .
Trabajo duro y amor por el deporte👌🇨🇱
Great bodies and these guys lived to an old age..less drugs, more cardio, sunbathing and no insulin
Yep, nothing like old school, Insulin ruined bodybuilding

8:11 maaan bro, that back is astonishing 😮
That’s Samir Bannout I believe.
Imagine if Arnold and others from that time walked in to most gyms now and saw tiktokers using squat racks to do weighted bridges in between recording everyone else lmao.
Imagine them walking unto a Planet Fitness No Lunk Zone" would they change their tune❗❗❗

Uauuuuuuu 80"s. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Samir Bannout was vastly under rated, one of the best physiques ever.

arnold my favourite in the movies and the bodybuilding
Hello the best bodybuilders of the, 80,90
Spectacularly great footage. It brought back a lot of rnemories for me. How about some more Strydom in the next One? He and we of that period brought the legs up and ushered in the "Total Package aka 'X' frame Era" achieving complete balance from head to toe. Thanks for your great work on these Best, Jurassic Jack A Mr Mass Media x6 and Grand Elite Masters Champion x2 1991-1998 ISSA Certified Fitness Trainer
Thanks for the upload, in my opinion it was the superior genetic structures, the flow of their proportioned and balanced physiques which had the appeal which is missing today, the muscle separation and development was damn great back than.
Muscle separation isn't necessarily genetic sometimes its a feature of just many years hard work, the difference between a seasoned veteran in the gym and a novice or intermediate.
The problem with today's BBs is they are getting to big to quickly, some will be olympia stage ready in 7 to 8 years today, guys in the past it took them 10 to 12 years to get to that level, the longer time produced greater muscle maturity.
If so why do they keep altering the damn photos. Its ridiculous!
@@NeonAnimeDreams If not dead or on dialysis 1st with all the modern drugs and cycles used now it's easy to see, they might even make it to an O but how many before they are forced to retire? Look at Tom Prince a former swimmer after he retired, looked to be 150 pounds and we know why he retired even if people don't want to admit it. As massive and strong as Franco was he weighed less that 200 pounds, guy now have legs so huge they can't even walk no less run more that 100 feet or do any REAL cardio, at least then at least some took time off the drugs now it seems a cruise is what those guys took pre-contest. Dickerson weighed 185 with BARELY 18 inch arms.
@zxtenn well yea, it's all par for the course, you take higher amounts of these drugs and more varties in combination you up the risk, is what it is unfortunately.
On the flip side more powerful drugs have also allowed people to compete longer too, for example the old steroids weren't powerful enough to keep a guy in peak olympia shape past 35 years old, now these guys can compete at nearly 50 on stage.
Of course the older you are when taking this stuff the higher risk ad well but then again there's also better testing methods and better care with modern medicine.
Sergio!
How much better were the physiques back then to todays body builders
The muscles taking interesting shapes as you add muscle upon muscle that is from hard work each bodybuilder having their own unique carved muscle...
As opposed to bloated muscles these days from Creatine..Synthol...insulin GH...So many bodybuilders have a similiar look ..oily look as opposed to that rock hard look of yesteryear from just steroids and good eating.
gorgeous vid! and no way Arnold should be showing Jusup the Heavy Duty method, that was Mentzers!
trained in the gym 70s and 80s. no shit.... shoes optional ...... loud grunting and groaning everyone wanted to be those guys. miss those days.
90% had good head of hair too! Cause didn't overdo "gear" & purity (of gear) was better then too. #BobParis #FrancoSantoriello
It was also the advent of the hair transplant.
Kawak 😌
My god who wrote this script? 😂 It's like an alien ai program pieced it together with newspaper headlines lmao
When you spot The Ultimate Warrior 😎
Albert Beckles ......the greatest of all time
By bíceps, maybe yeah.
He was good
Just us two big musicale guys running through a meadow. Nothing strange about that at all.
Old Skewl = True Skewl
It should be like this even today. Every male should do compulsory bodybuilding.
1:45 situps for one hour, wow beasts
Now all done ! .. the gym now has no soul !
BET THE GEAR WAS CLASS 😂
1:18 damn is that styropyro?
Lee Haney - underrated
How can you be underrated, when you are a 8 time Mr. Olympia?
The narrator knows absolutely zilch.
THIS was the era of sculptured bodybuilders.
YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT ABOUT THAT ONE!Frank!💪💪🏋
Sorry for my ignorance but Who is the bodybuilder with greek beard??? Looks like socrates 😮
Damn don't wanna be that big just real strong and healthy 👍👍👍👤🎧👣👣👣👣👣👣
YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!💪💪🏋🤝👍👍👍👍
... TO BE A FLY ON THE WALL
Isso è treino de verdade, isso è um físico de verdade
This video shows alot of the old day of weight training and body building however its only mentioned from time to time that dirty little secret of using vitamin S!
Samir was Awesome
Lee Labrada the best poser ever!!
Yeah it's about the heart
The heart attacks
for mine..Lee Priest has the greatest arms ever
Two men running in the field, both deceased
The more I watch these guys who came from Powelifting and Weightlifting backgrounds and who trained mostly with free weights, the more pure and athletic they look compared to the modern era
Some of these clips are from the early to mid 80s I think
Yup How we can forget Lee Haney
Jusup wilkoz
its about the addiction
Bb from the 70s look badass and, they live long life, some still alive well today.
Present bb, they look like pregnant men and die before 45.
Longest trailer ever
However, these guys also took sreroids it wasn't as bad as it is today. The old school was training hard as hell. You can get naturally bigger if you aren't a quick, fast results and cut corners guy. Also, if you stop thinking you want to look like someone else, learn to love your own genetics.
Looking at those guys from the Golden Era makes me all the more angry with how modern bodybuilding has evolved into the war of "conditioning", in which a competitor's actual muscle development is secondary to how "conditioned" he is. How much non-muscle tissue he's burned off using the conditioning drugs that are killing bodybuilders and bodybuilding! The guy who won the Classic Physique title at the Mr Olympia competed with a torn bicep. Yet he still won because he had "conditioning"!! And it seems the influencers are talking up conditioning at the expense of muscular development as well. It doesn't even seem to matter that the conditioning drugs are stripping away all the extraneous tissue and exposing all the flaws in the guys' physiques. That's all gotta stop!! Some sanity needs to return to bodybuilding before it's too late and good physiques are ruined beyond redemption.
You were singing my tune until you got to Chris Bumstead aka Cbum aka Classic Mr Olympia 4Xs He's beautifully built the closest thing this Era has to a Schwarzenegger and his conditioning is on a par with these guys. Yes, he won with a torn biceps so did Yates years ago. If you got the winning look you deserve to win. Especally if you maintained it while injured. But yeah the whole conditioning nonsense is ruining the sport but the young these days watch and value that EMACIATED disgusting Look!
@@jackvannote . . In English, please?
@@arthurblackhistoric Oh, beg your pardon, I am on a small keyboard today and... .. well my hands are kinda big, I thought it self corrected better usually does. It's corrected now please read again
@@jackvannote . . It's all good, Jack! You and I need to pester the influencers like Nick's Strength and Power to try and get them to stop promoting conditioning as a winning look. You're right, conditioning IS ruining the sport. My favourite bodybuilder at the moment is Michael Krizo. I hope with all my heart that he doesn't try and go down the conditioning rabbit hole. That would totally ruin one of the best physiques of the current generation.
@@arthurblackhistoric Agreed 👍💪👌
Original narration is from Tom Platz.
These guys was sick they plotted against they biceps. That’s where CT gets that mindset to own it
its ok if you got the GENETICS otherwise your just chasing a dream .
This is Paul Dillett
No, just no, keep it 70s and 80s please, no mass monsters
It's annoying to hear someone narrating a body building vidoe. Unless u r Dorian Yates or Arnie.
Tom Platz would like to have a chat with you.
These guys were the real deal when symmetry was paramount. Today all these mass insulin blubsters don't have any of that. Golden Era all divisions were judged firstly on symmetry then size then balance. Not insulin oil and GH😉
Get to da choppa get dooowwwnnn
@@OTM-101 just a pity most of them were afraid to train legs.. including Arnold . one glaring missing body part.. kinda wondered Wednesdaygonnaytrainlegs...
@@Xp8riot.The average height of the Mr. Olympian contestants of 2022 was 4foot 11inches ( do the maths) with a height like that those guys are to short to be anything else but legs. Arnold has 7 Sandow trophies to prove he was the real deal. You miss understood my comment I said that the Golden Era BB's were firstly judged on Symmetry Size & Balance. It was the era where the men looked like Greek gods not like today's competitors who look like god damn Greeks. 😉
Gotta love those concentration gurls 😂
"They all looked sexy." 😬
Today's bodybuilder are stocky brutish looking clones. The 1970,s & 1990,s had the most ascetic looking bodies-some short some tall but with great conditioning/granular looking muscles.
The only thing that has changed is mass .. The bodybuilding of today ( in my opinion) is all about mass. That's why Arnie brought about the Arnold classic..
