      @M B to a point it is, if that were not the case then let's just have bodybuilding be about guys that have 14inch biceps and get shredded to the bone.
      Obviously, we want big guys on stage, and while somewhat subjective as to what's the best size, I think most of the early to mid 90s guys got it just right.
      The perfect muscular body is where your muscles are as big as they can be before overpowering or overflowing into other body parts.

      We have a tendency as a society to believe things are always progressing in a positive way, with the modern iterations of things being superior. But once you grow up, and if you look around, you find that many times quality goes backward, and there are many arts and artists and modes of living that cannot be even approached today.

    • @Pulsonar
      @Pulsonar Рік тому +2

      @@polarvortex3294 yep, you hit the nail right on the head there. Our attitudes in general mature along with that as you said. I know, I used to wonder what ‘old man’ Beckles and Sergio Oliva was doing competing even in the early 80s. Beckles shut me up when he won IFBB NY night of champions in 1982 at 50 yrs old. Oliva was still placing top 10 at the Olympia. They looked after themselves much better than most BB these days dabbling in all sorts of exotic advanced medicine in a hurry to get to the top, not realising that their only a few steps away from hitting rock bottom and worse.

    • @NeonAnimeDreams
      @NeonAnimeDreams Рік тому +2

      Muscle separation isn't necessarily genetic sometimes its a feature of just many years hard work, the difference between a seasoned veteran in the gym and a novice or intermediate.
      The problem with today's BBs is they are getting to big to quickly, some will be olympia stage ready in 7 to 8 years today, guys in the past it took them 10 to 12 years to get to that level, the longer time produced greater muscle maturity.

      @@NeonAnimeDreams If not dead or on dialysis 1st with all the modern drugs and cycles used now it's easy to see, they might even make it to an O but how many before they are forced to retire? Look at Tom Prince a former swimmer after he retired, looked to be 150 pounds and we know why he retired even if people don't want to admit it. As massive and strong as Franco was he weighed less that 200 pounds, guy now have legs so huge they can't even walk no less run more that 100 feet or do any REAL cardio, at least then at least some took time off the drugs now it seems a cruise is what those guys took pre-contest. Dickerson weighed 185 with BARELY 18 inch arms.

    • @NeonAnimeDreams
      @NeonAnimeDreams Рік тому

      @zxtenn well yea, it's all par for the course, you take higher amounts of these drugs and more varties in combination you up the risk, is what it is unfortunately.
      On the flip side more powerful drugs have also allowed people to compete longer too, for example the old steroids weren't powerful enough to keep a guy in peak olympia shape past 35 years old, now these guys can compete at nearly 50 on stage.
      Of course the older you are when taking this stuff the higher risk ad well but then again there's also better testing methods and better care with modern medicine.

    Looking at those guys from the Golden Era makes me all the more angry with how modern bodybuilding has evolved into the war of "conditioning", in which a competitor's actual muscle development is secondary to how "conditioned" he is. How much non-muscle tissue he's burned off using the conditioning drugs that are killing bodybuilders and bodybuilding! The guy who won the Classic Physique title at the Mr Olympia competed with a torn bicep. Yet he still won because he had "conditioning"!! And it seems the influencers are talking up conditioning at the expense of muscular development as well. It doesn't even seem to matter that the conditioning drugs are stripping away all the extraneous tissue and exposing all the flaws in the guys' physiques. That's all gotta stop!! Some sanity needs to return to bodybuilding before it's too late and good physiques are ruined beyond redemption.

      You were singing my tune until you got to Chris Bumstead aka Cbum aka Classic Mr Olympia 4Xs He's beautifully built the closest thing this Era has to a Schwarzenegger and his conditioning is on a par with these guys. Yes, he won with a torn biceps so did Yates years ago. If you got the winning look you deserve to win. Especally if you maintained it while injured. But yeah the whole conditioning nonsense is ruining the sport but the young these days watch and value that EMACIATED disgusting Look!

      @@jackvannote . . It's all good, Jack! You and I need to pester the influencers like Nick's Strength and Power to try and get them to stop promoting conditioning as a winning look. You're right, conditioning IS ruining the sport. My favourite bodybuilder at the moment is Michael Krizo. I hope with all my heart that he doesn't try and go down the conditioning rabbit hole. That would totally ruin one of the best physiques of the current generation.

      These guys were the real deal when symmetry was paramount. Today all these mass insulin blubsters don't have any of that. Golden Era all divisions were judged firstly on symmetry then size then balance. Not insulin oil and GH😉

      @@Xp8riot.The average height of the Mr. Olympian contestants of 2022 was 4foot 11inches ( do the maths) with a height like that those guys are to short to be anything else but legs. Arnold has 7 Sandow trophies to prove he was the real deal. You miss understood my comment I said that the Golden Era BB's were firstly judged on Symmetry Size & Balance. It was the era where the men looked like Greek gods not like today's competitors who look like god damn Greeks. 😉
