For beginner ear training, I recommend the first few Ramones albums. It's very easy to hear the chords as the bass and guitar are playing the same thing, the songs are almost always composed of 2 or 3 simple chord progressions/riffs with no more than 4 notes or chords, the songs almost never follow a straight major or minor scale and often contain a key change or a weird chord in the bridge which makes it a little trickier than the songs initially appear.
Carol Kaye in her very old book "How to play the electric bass" says that playing along tunes is the best practice you can have, even better than playing live with mediocre bands. What do you think?
Cool videos man. Just subscribed. I try to practice daily atleast for about 3-4 hours While also staying up to date on the guitar, drums, and acordion. 😊
How often do you practice? If it's most days say "daily", if less say "less than daily". Would love to hear what's going on out in the community and I can post results later. Support this channel and get guitar pro files and PDFs from my videos www.patreon.com/guitartomguitar
thanks for video going to try your metronome app looks easy to use and like the disappearing part to find if you can keep in time, have many metro apps but just frustrate me. I only got a GED. again thanks.
Hi, just want to say that your videos are very helpful;, the only problems im having is i just dont know which finger to use on each note and i don't want to practice it wrong. i watched other videos and they all use different fingers. or does it really make a difference. Please respond because right now im stuck. Thanks
hi Tom this is my very first time watching your video and am very grateful but I actually don't practice regularly but when I play at church i can hear myself good and bad sometimes. what i really need here is how to figure out the major keys and the minor keys because I do play all right but may not know what am really playing. great common sense advice. Is that a Yamaha TRBX you're playing there? Very nice looking, and sounding, bass. I'm considering a Yamaha TRBX604 or BB434

after feeling stuck on my bass progression after playing songs that I like, I searched on how I could improve and this has helped a lot

Hi Tom that tune sounds like F lydian ? because the 2nd chord (G) also sounds major ?
Well spotted Michael, that's correct.
Why do you have to open your mouth in the thumbnail?
