- Wolfgang Rübsam came up with the original idea for this recording of transferring the middle movement of BWV1044, lifted by Bach from BWV527, to the equivalent position between the original Prelude and Fugue movements of BWV894.
Composer: J.S. Bach

In contrast to the Well-Tempered Clavier, which remained omnipresent in general musical and cultural consciousness after J.S. Bach's death, and the Goldberg Variations, adorned in the 20th century with an almost mystical aura, Bach’s seven keyboard toccatas have been unjustly relegated to the shadows. Composed between about 1707 and 1713, the Toccatas contain stylus phantasticus elements of the North German organ baroque and are a delightful mixture of virtuoso, recitative, arioso, concertante, imitative and fugal sections, entirely in the original musical sense of the word toccare.
This recording also features Bach's Prelude and Fugue in A minor BWV894, probably written during his Weimar phase. The title Prelude is perhaps a little misleading, since it is actually a concerto-like movement, and the fugue is also more like a gigue riding out on a ceaseless par force hunt. Bach ingeniously reshaped the work into his Triple Concerto BWV1044 during his Leipzig period, interpolating a second movement taken from the Trio Sonata for Organ in D minor BWV527.

I love the way Rubsam plays Bach. He plays like no other.
Diese Tokkata von Bach hört sich wunderschön an, Dankeschön 😌
Songs today can't be compared to these songs, these are too precious to be compared with some low quality senseless song being produced now-a-days.. These songs have souls...😍 😍😍😍😍
Well... These aren't songs.
J S Bach always makes me happy.
How sweet the sound of lute-harpischord. I loved it! Thank you for making it available! Great performance, congratulations!
Wonderful rendition of these great and wonderful compositions, I'm enjoying! Greetings from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Thanks for listening
A breath of relief washes over my mind every time I hear a toccata from one of the finest musicians during the end of the renaissance to the (edit**baroque**)period. Bach himself
Bach was a baroque composer, not a renaissance one.
@@TheStockwell no I'm not Bach music is at the end of renaissance period and thrives in the Baroque era.I am a Grade 5 student for Trinity College in classical piano and guitar and have done many Etudes and Preludes by him. However, you're right there's still so much to learn I am more of a Beethoven(moonlight sonata movement 1 and 2) and chopin person(waltzes and etudes) or even Mozart (Sonatas)but I'm enthusiastic on having a deeper intricate level and relationship with J.S Bach.
@@TheStockwell Maybe our friend means that he loves harpsichord (and organ) toccatas which include one on hand baroquie ones culminating with JSB of course, and on the other hand renaiussance ones, among which those of the great Frescobaldi (end of Italian renaissance). In such a case, it is the free, piecewise style of the toccata (together with its viertuosity) which attracts him. Note than in his toccatas and fugues for organ (papart the famous young work in D minr), Bach tends to put some architectural and seamless order in this piecewise style.
Eternal music, amazin instrument, outstanding performance! Thank you so much!
Hola buenos días. La música que amo, el arte del barroco , felicidades por compartir.
Whatever I listen to Bach‘s music,
the profound feeling and solemnity surge up within me.
This is for me, and I imagine. A lot f people, they first time I’ve heard this music. What a shame they have been relegated to the shadows! Just beautiful, especially on the lute-harpsichord. Many thanks for this upload.
Thank you for listening! ;)

@@marianafancio2388 es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clave-la%C3%BAd En mi opinión usted tiene un gran oido. Reciba un saludo
@@carlosgustavomunozrodrigue3960 muchas gracias! Abrazo
El clave-laúd es un instrumento similar al clavecín pero efectivamente su sonido es similar al laúd, que es algo así como el abuelito de la guitarra. Es un instrumento con un sonido muy hermoso; y, ciertamente, Ud tiene muy buen oído.
