This is great! Would've loved hearing some P90s in there, though I know they can do anything just as well :)
You are both such great players! Thanks guys for the tones. There are so many good tones out there. For that blues rock thing, being a bit of a Rory Gallagher fan, I would love to hear some strat through a treble booster and an AC30! He also played a tele, for slide playing I think.
Yes, we missed the strat-booster-AC30 tone, you're so right! Rory... what an absolute legend. 🙌 //Kris
With this setup, this switcher and these camerea shots, these videos are becoming That Thomann Show. 🙂
Congrats.
Waiting for the Indie-rock Tone Challenge with some Jazzmasters, Telecaster Deluxes, and Gretsch style guitars
Love you guys!
Gents, you dont even know, how happy you made me with this vid. For one, the tones there are beautifull, but then, its so nice to see someone else use similar approach to tone and that you can have Lenny and Pride and joy tones with same settings, just be pick attack dynamics.
Id say, I miss fuzz there for some of the "saxophone type sound" leads, but all good, all good. And Guill today on fire (not like Kris was behind, but even Im 335 guy for Blues, Guill made me smile a lot today).
Thanks a lot Stanislav! G made me smile a lot today too. I mean, what is not to love about a sweet and bluesy strat tone. :)
Cheers man! //Kris
335, most deffo 335. Now to watch the vid.
Guys, love those tunes! Great series. For me as a re-beginner it’s great to see how you generate the sound you’re looking for. Thank you.
Could you do a video about country and maybe some bluegrass please?
Hey, thanks a lot! I'd love to make an episode on country but to be honest, we're probably not the best players for that job. Haha! Literally every single guitar player in Nashville would be better at nailing that tone (and especially the playing). I'd still love to give it a go, since I really love the style. Thanks for the suggestion! //Kris
@@ThomannsGuitarsBasses compared to me, after more than 20 years of abstinence playing or even holding a guitar, you guys are more than pros. I really would like to see and hear your take on this style.
Was waiting for a look on ZZ top style texas blues but I guess you covered that... buuuut still waiting for the ZZ top licks =)
Best blues tone is in your fingers. You gentlemen play very well. Blues is about feel. Music is about emotions. Gear is secondary.
First of all, thank you! I agree with what you're saying about blues tones. It's pretty much the only style where you can get away with a weird and nasty tone. If you know how to express yourself with a beaten' up old guitar and amp, you can sound great with those too. Which makes blues the opposite of let's say modern metal. For metal you really need a certain kind of gear to have a tone we guitar players consider as a "good enough tone". So interesting, isn't it? Cheers //Kris
@@ThomannsGuitarsBasses I totally agree, that good metal sound is "huge" and aggressive. You rather don't want to use strat or some 20W combo with maxed gain. I was raised on grounge and metal and listening to it as a young lad, it allowed me to express my "anger". With blues often slow, with simple drums, bass walking here and there, sometimes piano kicking in, guitar player gets so much space to express himself. And in the end audience wants emotions, audience even unconsciously wants to feel how band members feel. I really liked your blues intro :-) Cheers, Tom.
Kris,
Love the 335 with Bigsby. I have similar with Epiphone Sheraton pro 2 with no bigsby but the sound from your Tele just hits the spot. Gotta love the construction cone sticker between tone and volume knobs lol. Great video as always. Terrific sound and playability guys!
Thanks Joseph, those Sheratons are great! I bet it's an inspiring guitar. And the sticker on my tele... well the tone is constantly under construction, so... 😂Cheers man //Kris
Sounds amazing. What amp was played with the strat?
Excellent episode. Good information . For the future, I prefer Distortion pedals vs. Fuzz pedals, Mud Honey II, DS-1, Suhr Riot, MXR Distortions (there are several). Not so square and gated. If you get into a Fuzz episode, I'd really like if you include one or more of the pedals mentioned in comparison.
I have a pedal recommendo! I use it with the Tele mostly but it’s also great for strats and 335 😀
That strat sounds sooooo good! What pickups are in there?
My favourite sounds! Thanks! 🤘
Well ... there ain't no such such thing as "the best blues tone".
Just watch "blues brothers", Justin Johnson, Hubcap Steve, ... all great "blues artists" ... very different tones!
You are doing well tooo (;-))) My fav on this episode is: the Tele - again
Thank you
I enjoyed the video, thanks! I was maybe hoping to hear also some modern blues like players as Matt Schofield or Henrik Freischlader 😊
A "Jimi Hendrix Tone Challenge" video would be great! (waiting for the octa fuzz)
My favourite blues artist is Mash Potato Johnson, his phrasing on Murdertrain a Comin' was joyously bleak.
Thumbs up 👍on mentioning Dan Patlansky, he is a BEAST!
100%! I love his phrasing and his tone! What a player! //Kris
Great video!
Would love to hear your fuzz tones too!
We need that fuzz video!
Where was the Cream’s Clapton ? :o
I have never used a fuzz ( what???😳)
So guys yes pleAse for a fuzz how to use video
Nice tones by the way
I need a dual pantheon I just do right !!
Hope the guy in the red suit is paying attention
Hah !! I been bad !! I get nothing 😢😢😢
Both of you nailed those tones 👍
Not related to this video, just want you to know: I can't wait to see a demonstration/review about the upcoming Harley Benton DNAfx GiT Pro multi-fx from you!
Hey, thanks man! I'm pretty sure we'll test it. Hmm, a comparison would be fun 🤔Szia! //Kris
Agree with Kris..335 and dumble style amp is the graal for the blues..
For me it s strat+ marshall ahah.. tele +AC30 is fantastic too
All of these are insane rigs, absolutely agree! //Kris
How you gonna play the blues when this is your job???
Merry Christmas Crew and you two.
Dirty boosted fender with a hint of clean Marshall SRV style 👍🏽
how about 50's blues tones like acoustic-y, or 70's dirty tones like hound dog taylor? missing some there
Hey Cem, both of those are super hard to get right. For the 50's tone you need a very old guitar to even get in the ballpark. And the 70's dirty tones... Do you mean like a fizzy, nasty blues tone? If yes, that's only really doable with a ridiculously loud amp that's about to explode. Haha! Not very practice and gigging friendly approach unfortunately.😅
//Kris
Ultimate talking video if you ask me. Hardly any actual music being played here.
Fuzz. Yes. ALWAYS yes. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Wait, I'm confused. Does this mean... yes? 😆 Okay okay, you convinced us, let's do a fuzz special episode. 🙌 Cheers buddy //Kris
@@ThomannsGuitarsBasses Oops. Sorry I didn’t make myself clear enough. YES! 😂😂😂 Cheers, my friend!!
Do you have a treble bleed in the Strat? Mine gets really dark if I roll it back.
Hey Rik, I'm pretty sure Guillaume doesn't have a treble bleed in there. It does get a little warmer when he turns the volume down, but not too much. It's crazy how different every strat reacts, right? //Kris
The TELE always wins. Fight me! Lol
I missed the EQ and possible compressors
Hey, we didn't want to use effects that aren't really associated with the style. We also cranked the amps enough to have the tube compression happening and as for the EQ: it's always a super nice tool to have. We simply didn't want to change the natural tone of the guitars / amps, so we didn't need one this time. Cheers //Kris
@@ThomannsGuitarsBasses what about the amp EQ?
//Kris
@@ThomannsGuitarsBasses Ooooh ja, da wär der meltdown vorprogrammiert
🙈🙉🙊 😄
HELLO GUYS I HOPE ALL IS WELL
Hey Mark, all good here, thanks! Take care man! //Kris
Before watching I would definitely say stratocaster.
Gary Moore style of blues would of been good.
fist
-> 👊 😅
Cheers Renan! //Kris
Plot twist: Gibson Les Paul is the winner for blues guitar. 😆
Haha! A real plot twist would be a Gretsch. Or a fanned fret 8 string with EMGs. Haha! //Kris
@@ThomannsGuitarsBasses - But, wait. I actually have an 8-string fanned fret Kiesel Tele guitar. It’s not…terrible… for blues. I’m just saying.
