    I call this the 100% Method. And it is so effective when you are shooting correctly (not just "Practice makes perfect" but rather "perfect practice makes perfect") that your form will very quickly tighten up and develop into the best you can do. You can do this with set shots and jump shots. Always go straight up on balance; and throw in a high arch shot sometimes. I promise you things will change quickly if you were having problems with accuracy or consistency.
    GymAlien said so!

    Ray is such a great player I hope that ring gets him in the HOF. Best shooter ever in the NBA. He can get off a shot with any amount of space and can shoot with his body in ANY motion. Guy can shoot leaning forward, fading away, drifting to either side. Guy is just a pure shooter in every single sense of the word

    Man he is exactly right, i mean i was wondering why my jump shot wasnt as good as it should be cause i had studied all the upper body stuff like hand positioning, but its all about combining the hand movements with the jump and getting a few inches off the ground.

    Ray Allen has such a pure, consistent jump shot it's not even funny. Lets just hope he can keep that up and get the C's an NBA Title.

    you have to get good at shooting consistently first like Ray, and then that builds up your confidence for shots like Kobe and Dirk

  • @JamesAllenJr

    This is the big secret to my technique. Do not move further away until you can go all the way from one side of the basket making 100% to the other side an back with good/correct form. Then step back about 2 feet/one step and start again. All the way from one side of the basket to the other in a semi-circle and back. Again do not go further until you do this with 100% accuracy (this is the KEY). In fact I go back in a step when I miss one shot. Continue until you can not get to 100% then stop.

  • @horaiyo
    @horaiyo 15 років тому

    Talking about the free throw comment? Basically every coach will tell you, however you shoot a free throw, do it the same way every time. Ray also comments that you should shoot the same way no matter what you're shooting. That way, once you make one, you just duplicate how it felt to make that shot, and eventually you fall into a rhythm (i.e. shooting groove, hot hand, etc.).
    Least, that's what I think he's talking about. :) Easier said than done.

    I'm close to saying he has the best jumper in NBA history. The only others I can put in his category are West, Maravich and Bird. Miller, Mark Price, Dirk in there too. The criteria being wet from everywhere on the court, shooting every type of shot: off screens, off dribble, spot up, hands in face, leaning, fading, clutch. Nobody's done it better.

    idk, their could be a lot of reasons. make sure that wen you are shooting you shoot from the chest up, never 2 low, otherwise its hard to pull off, and can be blocked easily..
    also keep your balance, and try not to slant in the air, just keep saying to yourself, straight up and straight down and just relase the ball wen ur balance is perfect, and keep your eyes on the back of the rim...

    U try using a higher arc from NBA three.... lol not college or high school. Plus the best shot is not a swish, is a shot that bangs in off the back, inside of the rim. Plus u see how fast his release is.... DAMN! him and Rip, best curl shooters. But you also wont have enough wrist power to shoot a High arcing ball without pushing it instead of flipping it with yoru wrist, every now and then u will see one drop, but lower arcing shots are more acurate.

  • @yogotah

    You shouldn't even respond to those stupid ignorant comment coming from people that probably have never played an organized basketball game. What you said made perfect sense and is correct, the game that Ray Allen is different than a Kobe or a Lebron, it may not be as flashy or as valued but it is very effective.

    @MochaeMoepfli the one-foot jump shot is not suitable for everyone. the reason why dirk uses it so often and owns with it is becoz of his size and height advantage. shorter players would get blocked EASILY if they were to do that one-foot jump shot

    Ray is not one dimensional. He doesn't consume time with the ball, he usually plays off it. Guys who move without the ball are used to spread the floor for other teammates and it keeps the offense moving. He also contributes to the team rotations on the defensive end. That's how team ball is played and Ray did it for every team he was with. Do you even play or watch basketball?
