Short training video on how to create PDF documents (.pdf files) from any Windows application that normally sends output to a printer by installing the free CutePDF Writer.
Thank you so very much for your time, clearly stated in a slow manner info on how to create a pdf. file. Really helpful for myself who is visual and hearing needs for learning. Reading instructions is not my method. you are great, JIM! Thanks again.
After checking with my Mac expert, I learned that this capability is already built into the Mac operating system. You can print in any application and at bottom left of print dialogue window select "save to PDF". It has been there for years.
absolutely perfect, thank you sir!!! Adobe wanted me to spend a lot of money to "rent" the software for a few months in a subscription to formulate pdfs, this is easier and free
a bit outdated as far as the new screen at CutePDF, HOWEVER this was very informative and I was able to convert my files to PDF with ease... thanks a bunch Jim
I was finding how to create a PDF in a short cut... unfortunately there were street cuts..... thanks bro........I got the solution..... thanks lot bro... cheers ! ! ! :)
Jim, Question. I think i'm using Open Office for this. Could that be why it didn't work? I think instead it just got sent to my printer. even tho i didn't have print to file selected. and i clearly chose CutePDF Writer. so idk. I just want a PDF Link. So i can share it to others online.
If you successfully installed CutePDF writer, when you attempt to print from any Windows application and elect to choose a printer from the list of those available, you will see a “printer” named CutePDF Writer. If you select CutePDF Writer as your printer and then execute the print, you will be presented with another window to allow you to specify the name and location for the PDF file (.pdf file suffix) to be created. From there you will be able to use the file for any purpose.
This video needs to be updated. When I tried to download CutePDF Writer a few minutes ago, the installer tried to trick me into also installing Teoma search software AND software to speed up my computer. When I got past these sneaky "offers", I got another message telling me that "CutePDF Writer must be used with PS2PDF Converter", and asks me if I would like to install this software. Since I have no idea what it is, and since they almost tricked me into installing search software (ie, software that takes over your computer and fills it with spam), I clicked out. Maybe it's safe, and maybe it isn't, but I've had too many bad experiences with viruses and various other malware to take the risk.
Douglas Wilde After you install the CutePDF Writer, you will have the capability to create a PDF document from any Windows application that can send its content to a printer. CutePDF Writer is a virtual printer. Instead of selecting a physical printer and getting a printed sheet of paper, you select the CutePDF Writer (listed with your physical printers) and you get a PDF file that contains your output. If you want a picture or graph in the PDF file, first put the picture or graph in the application (such as Microsoft Word), adjust the size and edit as you would before sending it to a printer. Then simply "print" it using the CutePDF Writer as your printer choice, naming the file and placing it where you want. If you want to edit the PDF file after you create it, you will need another application that can edit PDF documents. Perhaps another video tutorial is in order. Note, Word 2010 (and the other Office 2010 applications) and beyond now have the capability to save as a PDF document. Apparently, there is even an add-on for Office 2007 to do this. Finally, Office 2013 now has the capability to open and edit PDF files.
Wow! I've never heard that before. Make sure you are at the correct web site: www.cutepdf.com and avoid installing anything extra or modifying your browser by following my reply to the previous comment. The installation is merely going to create a printer driver on your PC. However, you should satisfy yourself before installing any software on your machine. . Google "is cutepdf safe".
+Pitam Thapa I'm not sure I understand your question. As I noted in response to Douglas Wilde earlier, more applications are providing the capability to save output directly to a PDF file without any additional third-party software. If your application is unable to do this, you need something like CutePDF Writer to do it. CutePDF Writer is not a physical printer but a virtual one. After installation, it shows up on your PC just like your other installed printers. Any application that can send output to a printer can now send it's output to CutePDF Writer, which will convert it to a PDF file instead of printing it on a physical printer. The last step in the process is to tell CutePDF Writer how to name and where to place the .pdf file via a pop-up window.
