Looks like someone didn't watch the Ghostbusters cartoons growing up. Ahead of their time and didn't even force it down people's throats.
Women can be Ghostbusters. But, it takes a special kind of talent to take 3 out of the 4 main cast who are genuinely funny and make them as unfunny as possible.
Kate McKinnon is genuinely funny. Paul Feig made her less funny than Melissa McCarthy. That's just Diabolical, man. 😂

Is that really true though? I just watched Barbie... Where Kate played a character she herself wrote for herself. It was basically the same character as the kookie Ghostbuster. It wasn't funny then and she didn't generate any laughs with Barbie. Ken was cool though.

The origin of the word (created by black people) is to be aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice) but somehow people (mainly white) decided to change it to what you defined it as. Any subject related to Trans, diversity, LGBTQ, or a list of other things automatically gets labeled as "woke" which is ridiculous. Thats not what the fans spoke of. We said an all cast of women would be stupid. If it was 50/50 it wouldve been better, if it didn't had the unfunny cast it would be better, if they didn't bash on the og film and actors, if the writers didnt go woke and blamed the fans saying it our fault cause the movie sucked. They tried to make it a sequel, but last minute made it their own world.🤦♂️.
Lastly afterlife is the promised 3rd(ghostbustersthe video game)/4th film we deserved. A proper acclimation to the og cast and film.

Truth
The main issue was the the orginals wasn't "the male ghostbusters". It was just The Ghostbusters. They didn't sell it as a group of men so cool you have to watch or you hate all men. Look how we hired all men.
They chose 4 good actors and wrote them a good story. It was written in a different time period so you can forgive some stereotyping in the writing. But the new movie is intentional in its sexist casting and its depiction of men. It was an active element and design of the movie and made up a majority of the writing outside of terrible jokes for 12 year olds. It was almost satire because of how bad it was.

I never had a problem with women being Ghostbusters. I have a problem with its inconsistent tone (reboot, soft reboot, etc). In the same vein, the original WAS a comedy but for the majority of the movie the comedy was almost incidental. The story came first and it felt like a coincidence that the main characters were funny, quirky, and had good chemistry together. I felt like GB 2016 told the girls to be as funny as possible then slammed everything together hoping for magic. Afterlife had some of the same problems but i enjoyed it because it was a decent story. A little overreliance on an already used gimmick and tons of fan service, both of which worked out alright. There were some clunky moments sure but everything had a reason story-wise for being there.

Kyle Griffin is a fan favourite. The all women cast wasn't an issue at all, the misogynistic writing and terrible acting however absolutely was.

I thought the female movie was pretty good when I first watched it in 2016, but about two years ago I decided to watch the first two, and they were MILES BETTER, the jokes always landed and weren’t so cringe, the plot made 1000x more sense

The problem was not that they where female. The problem was it was just a rewashed old story that was gender swapped. It could not have been anymore lazy writing. They could have at least called it I don't know maybe Gostbusters the next generation. Or Gostbusters legacy. Tried in any way to make it fit with the original Gostbusters timeline or as DC calls it Universe. Just any type of half decent explanation.
