- These are pretty well priced for US made tools but they could be made a little better with a bit better ergonomics but overall they are solid. I do compare to the Malco's and Stanley's.

Midwest does also make duckbill tin snips.
For those of us in the Midwest, Menards sells these at prices significantly lower than what is mentioned in the video (as of today, non-offset 10" snips around $14 before rebate).

Midwest makes a hardened steel version of their snips too that cost a little more.
I do Wiss and Malco exclusively in aviation. I never use "aviation snips" except for opening plastic packaging. The serrations cause too much damage on aircraft metal. Nice review, Catus.
I like aviation snips because the tiny serrations don’t let the metal slip the way smooth jaws do. I almost always fold the edges over, so the serrations are inside. I don’t do what some of you guys do.

If they work for you, excellent! They are good tools, just not for aviation metal. Aircraft Remover paint stripper is similar. The first warning:"do not use on aircraft". Aircraft "quality" doesn't really mean much. We have standards but quality varies greatly.
@@upsidedowndog1256 aviation snips, if you search the history were developed, with that tiny, and it really is tiny serration, to speed up cutting, and make the cut more reliably follow the line. It’s fine if you don’t like them, but there is a reason they’re that way.

Maybe so in google history. In over 30 years of actually doing aviation sheetmetal for a living, I only say that it is laughable that they call them aviation snips. Anyone using them in the field is obviously not experienced and may be better suited for something else. I use my grandfather's Wiss shears from WW2. He built C47s with them. No serrations. Still sharp and true. I am saying that "aviation snips" is a misnomer. Call them "aluminum siding snips" or whatever. Nobody in aviation uses them. EVER!

I always thought of Wiss as the default brand for aviation snips.
Wiss is now made overseas!
Who cares where it’s made? I’m just interested on how good it is, and being made overseas doesn’t mean it’s made worse. I’ve got tools that have become better since they went overseas.
@@melgross I found some US made ones on the shelf a couple months ago and they were not that great. THe only good thing about them was the price.
@@DKNguyen3.1415 it’s not surprising. We name some great tools here, as well as some that aren’t great. But then, that’s true everywhere.
Red and green as in navigation lights. Red: You “Left” Port (Also Port wine which is red). Silly ancient aviation/mariner memory jog lingo.
Search UA-cam for "Covell's Tips for Snips"; a recent excellent video on aviation sheet metal snips.

Hey catus Love you reviews and overall content is awesome but this video and I think another one seems to have this high-pitched ringing or buzzing noise in the background. Doesn’t bother me so much but I’m sure someone out there doesn’t like the noise
