This is the clearest practical explanation of the differences. I mostly just post to FB as Instagram doesn't seem to accept PC uploads any more unless I am missing a trick.

Really useful, thank you Olivio. Great for masks and I’d always wondered if I had the opacity and flow the right way around.

One of the best explanations of flow and opacity I've seen! The photo example really shows your explanations.
I mostly upload to Instagram but when I spent more care in the edit, I upload to 500px.

This is a super video, I have watched in other videos how this is done but Olivio method is so much easier. It is also so easy to remember. Many thanks for making this so fantastic lesson.

Olivia, thanks for all your efforts. Your tutorials are always easy to follow and they really help us mere Affinity Photo mortals. As to my site of preference is Flickr.

    Great vid Olivio!
My main upload site for pictures is Instagram, that image then goes automatically to Facebook and Twitter

Very well explained. I used to always struggle with the 2 concepts. Thanks for making it simpler. Talking about uploads My no.1 is Instagram then Facebook. And since I am in process of building my own website, that will also come into consideration soon.

Great tutorial which has really helped as I am new to editing. I upload to FB. Tried to buy your Pro Packs but it wouldn't allow me.

You asked us what's our favourite platform for uploading images to the internet, Olivio. I post most things to Facebook for my non-photographer/designer friends. (And I'm too lazy to get other accounts!)

Good question. Years ago used/paid pBase, moved to Flickr Pro for years, it changed for the worse, looked for a couple of years and now fine "good" quality .jpg remains with Google Photos (albums of shoots) at the cost of having to give out links for viewing. FB is ok for family/friends/interactions but massively degrades jpgs, IG is ok ONLY because some people only use it for an audience and is so ugly to use from a desktop...useless.

What I don't quite get is why you can set a paint brush to say 80% opacity yet when you lay a few brush strokes down across each other it doesn't go to 100% of its value for a few strokes. In other words, if the first paint stroke is 80% of its full colour, what does the succeeding stroke across amount to in percentage? Certainly not adding 80% to 80%.
