Thanks for watching!
Bula Bro. Tuning in from the Fiji Islands 🇫🇯 . For us here, that is something we consider sacred, and can be used for various occasions, for instance asking a woman's father for her hand in marriage or even trading it for a piece of land. Anyway, keep shining bro. Love your work.
Thank you so much Leo, I appreciate that. I try to show respect when I am lucky enough to have a whale tooth to work on. So happy you have found our channel.

How much does the tooth cost in antique shops ?
Hello Naps and welcome to our tribe. When you are lucky enough to find whale teeth in a shop the prices may vary a bit. The general rule of thumb is a dollar per gram. For a comparison, an ivory Q-ball on the average weighs about 200grams. A Q-ball is not whale tooth and is not worth as much but l use it as a size comparison for the weight is the same. So anyway, it largely depends on the size of the tooth. I hope this helps, thank you for checking out our channel.
Do you have any without the carvings
Hello Pate and welcome to our tribe. I do but I buy them to carve. Where are you located?
@@StockmanOriginalI’m interested and I’m located in the Bronx, Newyork, USA
@@StockmanOriginalI carve whale tooth a lot and made nice Polynesian pendants
Where can I aquire whales teeth legally for scrimshawing?
Hello Jaden, thank you for checking us out. There’s no real good answer to your question. I live in New England and bump into them once in a while in antique shops. Where are you located? In most cases you have to be in the state a tooth is being sold in because interstate commerce is illegal. In some states it’s a Bozo no no to buy teeth at all. Though somebody could send me a tooth from anywhere in the USA and I could legally carve it and send it back and get paid for my time but not the tooth. Good luck with the hunt and l would love to see your work.
Where can i buy this?
Hello Filipe, thank you for your interest but that piece was a commission. It certainly was a beautiful tooth though wasn’t it.
I have one, I'm not sure if it from an orca or sperm whale. I'm wondering how much I can sell this for.
Hello Piolo, that’s cool. I don’t know about orca but sperm whale teeth have been averaging around a dollar per gram.
Thats beautiful..how rare is a sperm whale tooth?
Thank you so much Christopher! It’s great that you have found our channel, we appreciate your support. Whale’s teeth are not common but they are around. There were a lot left over from the whaling days and they pop up once in a while at antique shops and the like, at least in New England they do.
