"percy swore under his breath" "hazel gave a suggestion of where octavian should stick his dagger." (I can't exactly remember the quotes well, this is from memory)
I definitely recommend for a 13 tear old, more mature reader, I'd recommend " You'd be home now."" This was one of my favorite books growing up. Although I was more mature and more aware of what the world was like at 13, but i definitely recommend it.
Paper Hearts is such a good book for preteens. It dives into first relationships, grief, mystery, and much more. I read it when I was 12 and I loved it. I feel like it’s a great book and I highly recommend it😁

I would be happy if someone recommended me or gifted me those twisted love or icebreaker, anything similar or worser to that type of books. Screw if it ruins my perspective on anything. For me, it was already ruined to begin with.
I suggest PJO book 1-5 it is absolutely amazing! Uncle Rick is an amazing author- and I’m not even 13 yet but it’s absolutely worth it- plus these book can be found in a local library or book shops or even Costco! I haven’t bought uncle Rick’s other books but they are GOLD.
Aghhh you are so right with 'if we were liars' because I know I would've loved that book so much more if I read it in my early teens instead of early twenties
I’m 14 and I would recommend Aru Shah and the End of Time (clean), Percy Jackson(clean), All the Hidden Monsters (clean) and Amari and the Night Brothers (clean)
Counting Thyme was my favorite when I was younger. It talks about a girl struggling with moving, she has a brother with terminal cancer, but it also has cute subplots of neighbors, friends, ect. Absolutely recommend it
@moon_cat32 No, it talks a lot about su1cide, sm0king, and some s3xual things (idk if I'm allowed to say that on UA-cam), so I wouldn't recommend it for people who don't want to read anything inappropriate. I read it at 14, but I'm ok with reading mature books, so if that's not what you're looking for, be advised.
I literally love The Thing About Jellyfish so much! 😭 I had discovered the book back when I was in fourth grade and that book literally hurt me so much in a good way! I remember crying so much after reading it, it literally started my reading obsession, and now I read it to my younger cousins who have grown an interest in reading 😼
Love love love!! Thx for the recs, I really enjoyed inheritance games, a good girls guide to murder, and books that that. Perfect amount of romance for me, and book recs with love as a sub-plot?
As a person who likes crime books, realistic fiction, and memoirs, here are some recs! 1. The boy on the wooden box (by Leon Leyson) 2. The incident on the bridge (idk who it’s by) 3. Girl, interrupted (I still don’t know who it’s by) Girl, interrupted is aimed towards 12-14 year olds (for swearing etc.) The boy on the wooden box was written by a holocaust survivor. It’s more for 10-12 year olds (violence really violent.) The incident on the bridge is good for most ages over 12 (though it’s about suicide.) Enjoy! ❤
I started writing books when I was nine and am now 12 with three in progress that I hope to finish at some point. The mention of your own book was inspiring, thank you for the recommendations.
For more mature/higher level readers, a pretty clean author is Brandon Sanderson. I’ve been like a really advanced reader (I had to get pulled out of class to read lol bc they didn’t know what to do with me) and this was the first book series I read at my level or maybe even a bit above.

“Greetings from witness protection” was one of my favorite books when i was 13, it’s clean and handles some dark things really well, i highly recommend it for middle schoolers
