Robert Amsbury ,not in the UK. Omaha NE, USA. My parents traced my lineage back to the Mayflower that sailed from England with the pilgrims in 1620. Our name was officialy Amsbury then, shortly thereafter, it changed to Armsbury. Cool bit of history. I bet we might be related, quite distantly, but related non tbe less
Just something that Cy happened to mention there really caught my ear, " Had a lot of fun in this shop " ! 😊 Those few words speak SO MUCH !! Enjoyed the visit Scott and tell Cy thanks for taking the time to do this ! 👍 Thanks for sharing and take care. 👍 👍 👍
I really enjoy the respect and honor you show toward Cy Swan. He's of course, earned it, but earned doesn't always mean paid. You're a good man, Scott.
It brings tears to my eyes to listen to the magic flow from the mouth of such lived experience. The world will be less ,when we lose such a crafstman. I hope you live to rival the age of Methuselah! LONG LIVE CY!
This man is a real genius old timer. I love seeing this because as a kid although in the 80’s I grew up with a tremendous amount of respect for my elders & men like him. It’s the end of the golden era and we are losing men like this. Never to be replaced & it’s sad. God bless this man and men like him 🫡
love the back and forth videos, it keeps us from getting bored with the same type of video over and over. love the shop tours. would love to have a neighbor like you and Cy. keep on keepn on!! look forward to every video.
My grandfather passed away around Christmas last year, and I was devastated, he taught me everything from building houses, driving farm equipment, working cattle, and even the essential parts of reading cattle when I decide I wanted to be a bullfighter, Cy reminds me of him, God bless you sir
As much as I enjoyed the shop tour, I enjoyed the depth of friendship that you two have which radiates thru this video, even more. Respect to you both.
Thanks so much for sharing Cy, with us. I'm 6 yrs younger than Cy and didn't go to the San Fernando Valley until after H.S. in 1962 and it had changed a bunch by then. Lived in Receda and Van Nuys. But nothing like now. It was the first time I had ever bite into a tree ripened Peach, at a farmers stand, just inside the valley. It was like biting into a water balloon and juice just burst out of it. Can't imagine what it was like in the early '50's . Spent weekends at the beach and loved swimming in the ocean and body surfing. Would love to hear Cy, talk more about growing up there and his father. Cy is not only very smart, but has to have a hell of a memory.
Cy's hands tell his story almost as clearly as his seasoned voice. I would LOVE to hang out it that shop... Or maybe just sit around a campfire and listen to him for hours...
There will never by a person to replace the knowledge and know how that CY has. Learn as much as you can from this man , he is a treasure. I have had the pleasure of learning from a man of such knowledge and you can’t get this knowledge anywhere. Learn while it is still available.
The story telling on this channel is phenomenal, like Cy is that character that doesn't necessarily fit into the main plot but you're really excited when he appears in a new episode.
It is by forging that one becomes a blacksmith. French Proverb You are privileged to know and learn from a great man such as Cy, and we are just as privileged to watch. Thanks for sharing EC.
Thank you for this intimate look into Cy’s shop and part of his life. I think he’s such and interesting fellow, and I enjoy listening to the stories and history of his life. What a national treasure this man, and men like him are. #forgelife #hammeriron #workwithyourhands #passiton
This is my first time finding this channel and seeing Cy, wow what a treat this was to find, and what a man Cy is, 80 years old and still going strong still full of life, would love to spend some time apprenticed with him, only problem is I live in the emerald isle 😁 ain't many smiths here unfortunately, I wish the smithing and blade smithing culture was bigger here, I think there's the appetite but I'm not going to be the one to ignite it I don't think.. anyways, I'm going to binge my brains out watching these Man's men doing their thing and god damn I'm going to enjoy it 😁
Cy what are all bowling balls used for ? What a great collection of tools. What an example of a motivated accomplished man. This is what is meant when we refer to the greatest generation of our time and thank you for sharing and keep up the good work Essential craftsman’s. Thank you for the great content Scott and Nate.
Cy you have such a huge wealth of knowledge, feel really lucky to be able to learn from you, when i did my apprenticeship the guy who was to mentor me did the most lackluster job and i ended up teaching myself more then he did. he was afraid to give up his knowledge and pass it down. so i thankyou for yours :)
Let's go back to Cy's shop again, his knowledge is irreplaceable. I would like for him to talk about anvils. Pros and Cons for each type. Thanks so much!!
I was fortunate to get to hang around with a couple of guys something...a little...like Cy when I was growing up--and one shop that looked a lot like this--and I'll always be thankful for their patience and influence. They've been gone many years now, but I still remember vividly when I drive by their old places, wondering who lives there now, noticing that nothing ever goes on in the old shop buildings. I can still picture the exact things I saw, the things they let me do, like it was last week. Can't thank you enough for letting us in for these visits, because there surely aren't many people or places left like Cy and his majestic shop. May Cy and Scott both live to 150 so that we have many decades of fun and learning ahead.
Bartering with a cannon has to be the most American thing I've ever heard of. God bless Cy.
This is awesome. People like this built America. Good to see he's still working
I could listen and watch Cy all day and would never stop learning. Just fantastic...
Robert Amsbury , interesting last name. Mine is Armsbury. Maybe we are related in a distant life and time?
jason armsbury - Hi Jason. Very possible! Not many of us about.... Are you in the UK?

Scuba Diving? The enigma that is Cy continues to get more complex
Man, the life that gentleman has had. The stories he could tell, the lessons one could learn. Priceless! Thanks very much for the video.
Just something that Cy happened to mention there really caught my ear, " Had a lot of fun in this shop " ! 😊

Ken Gamble Agreed!
Nice to see a real man in his element. Wish there were more media outlets where young people could see this kinds of stuff.
I know you value Cy’s relationship. What a resource, mentor, and friend.
Mr. Scott, thank you for sharing more of Mr. Swan with us, I can never get enough of you or him.
Y'all are always a welcome wealth of knowledge.
I really enjoy the respect and honor you show toward Cy Swan. He's of course, earned it, but earned doesn't always mean paid. You're a good man, Scott.
I love that guy. What a character. Can you imagine what he has in his brain... the knowledge...experience...
It brings tears to my eyes to listen to the magic flow from the mouth of such lived experience. The world will be less ,when we lose such a crafstman. I hope you live to rival the age of Methuselah! LONG LIVE CY!
Oh my God I could listen to Cy talk all day long! Incredible man. I could only wish I know as much as he forgot!
It would be great to get that casting on video. Any video with Cy Swan is just plain awesome. A true living legend. Thank you Scott!
Cy is an amazing man. I could listen to him all day. I can't imagine what he's done in his life.
That might very well be the biggest, bestest set of taps and dies I have ever seen. I got a big grin on my face when I saw it... 😊

My dad loves the knife I had Cy smith for him, really appreciates the craftsmanship that went into it.
As much as I enjoyed the shop tour, I enjoyed the depth of friendship that you two have which radiates thru this video, even more. Respect to you both.

I could listen to Cy talk for days.
Cy's hands tell his story almost as clearly as his seasoned voice. I would LOVE to hang out it that shop... Or maybe just sit around a campfire and listen to him for hours...

What a great guy,and so much knowledge..your a blessed man to be friends with him. Thanks for the tour Sir.
Cy is a legend.
I shudder to think of what might happen to his shop in time.
I'll wager that the shop is pretty safe as long as Cy is alive and kicking.
Such an honest and humble man. I do believe that Cy could do anything!
Thanks for this tour!
(I like how it’s quite messy and Cy still can find everything!)
Organized clutter
Cy, you are the real deal my friend!!! I Love to listen to you talk, and I bet you have some stories to tell... Take care and God Bless.
Some man for one man legend
I love seeing that beaudry. I hot to work on it some at Weimmanns, it is good to see it is in better hands now.

Fascinates me how he finds anything. My grandpa's shop is the same way he know exactly where everything is.
Thank you Cy for the tour of your world. AWESOME!!!!

Great even the 2nd time I've watched Cy and his shop..What a shop!
"yeah i built a guy a cannon so he came in and ran sprinklers for me" not something you hear every day
Thanks for the tour. Cy's shop has that well used look, and only slightly more clutter than I personally consider perfect.
Your vids of the old timers' shops are some of your best videos. Please do more of these.
Great video, seems like the kind of guy that has a lot of good friends and is himself a good friend to have.

Just like the newer country song
"Give me just 5 more minutes"
Thanks for the tour Cy

A true member of the greatest generation is Cy.
What a cool old dude!
The Monarch was manufactured 20 minutes from my home. The original company is still there today, quite smaller than they used to be.

When they made Cy Swan they broke the mold, quite the Renaissance man.
