Helpful honest easy to follow video, I agree on the water based. We are in a brand new house in Scotland and all the trim and doors have been done in oil based. So inside cupboards, the back of the doors, door frames, skirtings have went yellow and that was on key day they were like that. Lots of decorators still seem to want to use oil based. So now I have a whole brand new house to redo all the trim and doors. Will have all the ceilings to redo and walls as well due to the new build splat dash approach. So will be busy!
I use these brushes when I use oil which is very rare this days. As I can just through them away after. Now that say have change the brush mate formula which doesn't work. I find it better to use these brushes as you say at a good price .
Hi Richard. I've used one again today for an up and coming video for the future... there's nothing wrong with it to put paint one and away you go.... not saying they'd be the greatest brush for cutting in compared to a 'slash' cut bush... but again... they're fine and do whatthey need to do. There's worse brushes out there that people use and you know they don't need to.. then these are cheap enough.
Local independent merchant has them in at £10. As a former coach painter was trained on Hamilton Perfection and these are pretty good, I use them with satura and ceramica and everything in between. Can shed with the first few loadings but after that fine. Clean out really well when using hybrids which prodec didn’t. £10 for five brushes bargain.
Hamilton seem a decent choice and have used them in the past, well made long standing manufacturer like you say. I am going to buy a Arroworthy just now as that’s what you said you use, pretty sad but actually looking forward to using it when it arrives 😂.
HI Phil great video on the Hamilton for the trade brushes. you probably have saved me 11 quid. just a quick question i know you use arrowworthy brushes for your work but what would you use for oil based paints natural bristle? thanks Paul Depear
Hi. I'd use the Wickes own brand £11 a pack of three .. for oil. But... I've now tested on Doris the door three different types of Nour brush... Some.vids are coming in the next few weeks... Wow... They may be worth trying out of you want that tradition brush with more modern day bristle.
Pound for pound Hamilton synthetic brushes take some beating. There is another cheap synthetic Hamilton range decor centres pretty good also sometimes get a free sash tool in the 5 pack .
@@jeffbruce1050 not used them for years.. used to have the ProExtra Purdy. But felt the prices at the time was expensive and found nicer brushes out there for a fraction of the price.... It was one of the reasons we started using Wickes own brand. Nice bristle on those, with a soft tip.
Interesting Phil, 👍🏿especially as, in my opinion, Hamilton have always struggled with their synthetics, they have brought out quite a few new ones over the years. I wonder if this latest one is going to now take the place of the prestige. range 30 years ago perfections were virtually 'the' go to brush, for most deckies, then once purdy got established, they got left behind as many new brands hit the market. Id be interested to know how much packing those two brushes used in the stock, as this also affects the firmness. Whats you opinion of the orange foxes? I find them excellent in oil and water based.
@@Lloyd1885 Cutting edge brushes are great just the synthetic 1s mind never bother with the real hair 1s anymore they are garbage compared to years ago
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator The Corona Archer brush is the best all-round brush on the UK market in my opinion, great filaments for modern waterborne wood finishes, high level accuracy in emulsion, and amazing longevity. I've had to 2.5'' on rotation for well over 2 years now, still as good/functional as when I bought them. I've not used a lot of Nour brushes, nor Arroworthy - though I use Arroworthy rollers and other equipment. Still use a fair few Purdy brushes and also Proform Piccasso in a lot of emuslions. Still think Corona are the best though, especially because of their longevity/durability. I'm fairly precious with the Corona brushes though so maybe that is a factor!
@@acropolisnow9466 I recently bought some Corona Deck and Cabin brushes (1.5" and 2") via an eBay seller. I can no longer find the seller but from what I can remember the Bristles were authentic White China.
@@bitTorrenter I think that eBay seller was a company called AJ Systems and they were importers of Corona brushes and sold at a good price. That's where I bought most of mine. I've also got a couple of the Corona Deck and Cabin, they're excellent for exterior wood treatments like Cuprinol and the like - recently renovated an old oak bench in the summer and had the Deck and Cabin on the task, great feel and balance to that brush.

Give some of the paints I've reviewed a go. You'll like them
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator I will check them out. When I am wanting Painting and Decorating advice I always check out your channel 👍🏻.
love them! 20 years in game.
I use the Hamilton performance 2" cutting in brush
Great video phil, I bet the Hamilton brush will be even better when it wears in tio shape,
Wait for another Nour brush video coming out... I may convert you to a new brand!!
@@ProfessionalPainterDecoratorcan't wait, cheers mate
Once they've worn in they are decent to paint with

I like the Axus Blue ones
I have a few of these brushes but ive found that there doesnt seem to be much bristle in the centre. Not sure if youve found that or not?
All the painters I know where I live use proform contractor brushes including me their great try them out
Decorating for 30 years Uk
Thanks for sharing!!
Hamilton are the best brushes going 🖌️
Hmmmmm. Not sure that true. But they are ok.
Is that brush any good for skirting ? Cheers
yes, if you feel you're happy cutting in with it on the top edge.
Thanks for the video. Just picked up my Hamiltons from Toolstation and the first thing I did was sniff the bristles...holding you responsible! 😐
Gotta sniff the bristle ;)
I use these on council contract stuff. They do the job. No frills brush. Nothing wrong with them
I cant find Hamilton brushes here in Canada. In my experience the Corona are the best in North America.
Can you get NOUR Heritage brushes though?
Where I’m going wrong, sniffing brushes 👍
start from the tip and work back :D
Hamilton expression.
Sounds like a brush got zinner bins
I've been using them, there's a place from them.
I've stopped one 1.5" in Silkens Filter7 last week and it was fine to use.
Trying brushes on door isnt really a good demo maybe try showing a video cutting in a straight line would be better just a thought Phil
I'll leave that to the tictok students
I always use purdy
What’s your opinion on them Phil
