    I'm a gun guy that moved into archery. I can buy an arkan ep 5 6x26x50 magnification 34 mm tube Ed glass with 20 mils of elevation. Illuminated reticle with multi coated etched glass. All for 500 or less. This scope allows me to engage targets with my 338 Edge out to over 2000 yards. What does this ultraview do again? How much does it cost. One thing I've learned about participating in archery is that it is one big giant rip-off. I still really enjoy it but the prices are definitely not justified.

      I'd bet you have friends that use expensive nightforce scopes on $10,000 rifles. Why would anyone do that if you could buy a Ruger American and vortex diamondback tactical???
      Archery is no different. If you can't tell the difference between a $250 bow and a $1800 bow then knock yourself out and get the cheap bow! If you want to shoot out to 120 yards with a $50 sight by all means go for it! But there's probably going to be better options if going long is your goal.

      @@jackbuendgen389exactly right. You can buy cheaper gear if that’s what you want. The cheaper gear is built cheaper. To get something quality made you gotta spend the money just like with rifle. So many people say it’s a rip off because somehow they want a Ultraview scope being the same price as a trophy ridge. lol.

      To be fair the Arken is also a super budget optic, compare the Arken to any other high tier optics and it falls on its face. I own three arkens and I also own several Schmidt and benders and ior optics, there’s a huge difference. You can also make the argument why would I buy a 1,500$ bow when my 500$ ruger American shoots out to 500 yards no problem. Apples and oranges

    Not sure if you can get your hands on one, but would love to see an MFJJ review of the new Spot Hogg Boonie.

    I think it would be worth mentioning/complaining about the warranty. If you plan on hunting in anything other than perfect conditions, the warranty is void. They spell it out clearly. "Exposing the purchased product to extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, sleet, or WIND" will void the warranty.

      That's ridiculous! They don't stand behind their "top tier" products?

    Love your stuff, please do more budget stuff as i think most of us common folk don't want to drop 300 to 400 plus on a sight, under 200 would be great! Need a good enough for government work option. Thanks Josh!

      The accessories are ridiculously expensive. And this comes from someone who has bought this stuff. I guess it's the low scale production and the premium for being "the best"

    So many things debuted at ATA I’m dying to get my hands on. Most notably, Red Line’s new “totally not Bridge-Lock” Bridge-Lock compatible stabilizers. I bit the bullet on the low pro quiver and QAD Integrate on my Lift 29.5, but going to try and go budget on stabilizer and sight. At least for now.

    With the level/bubble being removable, I used blue painters tape and flat black spray paint to thicken the 2 bubble lines to make them far more visible. I'd say I doubled or possibly tripled the line thickness. Night and day difference

    My biggest issue with Ultraviews scopes is their pin brightness without the light, with the light on they're great, without it they're not even close to HHA, Spot Hogg, Black Gold, or any of the other top quality sight manufacturers when it comes to pin brightness. That being said they do make quality products.

      I totally agree with you. I thought it was just my UV2 XL scope but after hearing from others and seeing the difference from my spot Hogg I think I will just stick to SH going forward I’m glad I wasn’t the only one with this issue. We are paying double $ in Australia.

    Great video JJ !!! Very informative as usual. I have 3 Hoyt bows. RX5, RX7 and a VTM 31 and they all have Ultraview UV3XL scopes. The VTM has the SE version on it and all are 2 pin scopes. I do want to try the UV3se on the VTM. That’s my 3D bow.

    I think a cool improvement would be a rechargeable (USB-C) Li-ON battery for the light setup. Given how long the 2x CR2032 batteries last, I imagine a "permanent" rechargeable battery would do really well in this scope. You could even increase the volume of the battery area down beneath the scope housing itself since you center your peep on the vis ring inside.

  • @harveygalloway3965

    My only complaint with my UV scope is, it is dark without the light turned on. It would be AWESOME if the fibers were brighter. I told this to the guy in San Antonio at TAC this past year.

    Originally, I was planning on getting the UV slider, but went with the landslyde(ranger pin) due to the pins on the UV3XL not being able to swap the left orientation. It feels like with most of these companies, lefties are an afterthought. I might have gone with the UV slider if you could have got it with the single pin like this one stock.
    Besides the integrated light, what would be the benefits over the AVX-41 or 31?

  • @jons7e
    @jons7e 10 місяців тому

    I wish you could bundle this scope with the sight instead of the XL 3 pin slider. Does this work with the previous UV scope rod?

  • @jjdrury

    • @brownlax16
      @brownlax16 10 місяців тому +1

      At this point yes. I’ve had 2 uv scopes. All rattle and come loose like crazy. I like the idea of the light built in for sure, however the batteries last maybe one shoot if your lucky 3d shoot wise. If you use a lens the lights reflect off the lens and create a lot of glare. That’s why so many try to rig up an external light to shine just the fiber. Like the idea, but I do feel it is just overpriced plastic and the quality is just not there. Shrewd Optum is miles and miles ahead quality wise. Or even Axcel avx for hunting better in my opinion.
