From what I have heard, Shane has never actually forgotten how Vince generally favoured Stephanie when it came to the business, even when everyone was saying that when she finally takes over she'll run it into the ground. While at the same time, killing off any ideas that Shane had other than having him perform some crazy stunts while acting as a part time wrestler.
      Would Vince have ever approved Stephanie falling 50 feet off the Titantron?

    • @matthew1hyndman
      @matthew1hyndman 8 років тому +6

      +Paul Farrer I know this channel (and most fans) focus on the on air product, but the board room issues at WWE are profound, the company profit are down on a decade ago (despite higher revenues) . A lot of senior managers are either being sacked, or are resigning, and the company seem to be going through restructures an an extremely frequent rate). Honest, if the McMahon weren't the principle shareholder in the company, the other shareholders (this is a public company) would have moved against Vince years ago and replaced him as CEO.
      Maybe Vince has released that it time for the company to bring a new person in, and allow them freedom to make changes to try and make the business more profitable (to the profitability it was a few years ago). That could be why Shane back (I would expect Vince to retain creative decision, even through the WWE prime creative (which Vince is in charge of ) is a reason I think the business is floundering).

    I've always liked Shane, sure, in kayfab he was a villain a lot of the times, but he was always down for the stunts. Say what you want about wrestling being real or what have you, he was down to get in the ring many times, when he didn't have to. +Delox He talked about the possibility of doing that while on the WrestleCulture podcast. His issue at the time was that there's so much up in the air and he doesn't really want to address it until after Wrestlemania, like a how they should have booked. There's still a chance, but he doesn't really want to go in-depth on Wrestlemania until after the show.

      +Delox If John Cena is healthy, have Shane broker a deal where it will be a handicap match, in which it becomes John Cena and Shane McMahon vs The Undertaker. That, or through legal mumbo jumbo that Shane McMahon pulls from footage, have John Cena vs The Undertaker in the Hell in a Cell match with both McMahons ringside. That's essentially two matches you want to see for the price of one. At Wrestlemania 32, this is The Undertaker's retirement match in which he loses to John Cena and Shane McMahon becomes the head of the company.
      Additionally, this sets up another opportunity for a John Cena heel turn, in which he realizes that it was Vince who gave him all the success over a decade, so what does John Cena look like under Shane McMahon? Nobody knows, but Big Match John isn't having it, and the next night on Raw, he sides with Vinny Mac and becomes Authority, trying to prove he can still wrestle after a shoulder injury and a ten year run with the company.

    - Drew McIntyre and Tiffany (fighting + divorcing)
    - Emma (stealing in a shop)
    - Sin Cara (botching like his life depends on it)
    - Jack Swagger (personal favorite: caught with weed weeks before 'mania)
    - Abraham Washington (personal favorite: infamous Kobe Bryant joke)
    - Mason Ryan (no idea why I have to admit)

    Shane has been dicked over so much in his time in WWE. To be fair, I don't think he wasn't ready to run WWE because he wasn't knowledgeable or experienced enough (he was involved in plenty of storylines and has more than enough backstage knowledge to run the company well, not to mention his employees genuinely enjoy his leadership). I think he wasn't ready because Vince just doesn't want to let go of the Roman Reigns to the company yet. That's a huge misstep. Vince is not the man to run WWE anymore. He's had his time. If Vince, or even Helmsley and Steph, knew what was truly best for business, they would let Shane's voice be law. After all, history shows he has an eye for great ideas (wanting to purchase UFC is a great example).

  • @drago939393
    @drago939393 8 років тому +2

    Two things:
    1. Wrestling Observer now states that, although most of their promo and the current storyline is just that - a storyline - there is a lot of truth to it (as you've mentioned as well); Even more so, according to Meltzer, the real-life backstage shenanigans, with Shane returning to the company, might soon become VERY interesting and, naturally, spill over to TV too.
    So, while it might be the case that Shane has returned just as a character for a big WrestleMania match, it is also entirely possible that a real-life power struggle is - or will - happening behind the scenes.
    2. Although Shane was, as you've mentioned, apparently the best McMahon to work for AND while he had some very creative and forward-thinking ideas - like buying the UFC, making ECW a smark-only internet show, making WWE.com a hub for all wrestling news and thus pushing out dirtsheet websites and even doing something akin to the WWE Network years before it was conceived - he was also apparently crap at booking.
    Now, given how Vince and Stephanie have booked throughout the years... Yeah...
    Vince/Steph have booked quite horribly themselves, having messed up many big angles and promising wrestlers, shot themselves in the foot multiple times, hurt the product and prevented it from growing while failing to make it more mainstream AND failing to make it enjoyable for their core audience (treating it like idiots at that), ignored how the modern fan has changed and how, in general, non-WWE wrestling and non-wrestling products are nowadays...
    Even more so, Vince himself is obviously VERY stubborn when it comes to certain things, as we can see in how he books people like Reigns, how he treated Bryan, how he treats the women's division (and what his idea of a "revolution" is)...
    On the other hand, HHH is obviously doing a great job with NXT - but he have to remember, NXT is a different beast entirely, from its shorter running time (it's not a 3 hour show...) to the fact that it is allowed to lose money, with things like the talent not having to travel far and wide in between...
    Honestly, likely the best future for WWE would be for Shane to run the company (since he is apparently good at that and a good leader) while having HHH being in charge of booking and the product itself, maybe with the likes of Heyman being there to help.
    Vince and Steph, though, can just go away - and, well, Steph doesn't really have to be on TV either (good performer that is booked poorly, hurting talent as a result).
    Man, that future of WWE sounds good, especially with a commentary team of Mauro Ranallo and Corey Graves!

    • @BlueDemonofFire
      @BlueDemonofFire 8 років тому

      +Rayven Hitt Don't get your hopes up, Vince has proven that he'd sooner drive his company to the ground than let someone else take over. There's outright tension from HHH and Stephanie over his control freak tendencies, and they're supposed to be the ones that will take over the company at some point according to Vince himself. The man never really learned how to delegate, or decided that since he's the biggest company in the industry that he doesn't 'need' to anymore, and so long as his brain functions in any capacity, he will stay in the driver's seat regardless of how dangerous it's becoming for himself and those around him.

    Shane is unique in that he's possibly the only person on the planet that can both tell Vince bad a job Vince is doing AND not be instantly dismissed. Everyone inside the company is probably too afraid they would get instantly fired. Anyone outside the company Vince can just brush off as not knowing what they're talking about. Shane grew up in the business and knows it and if Vince doesn't like what he's saying Shane can just shrug and say, "Fine, whatever dad. I'm going back to my company now. Tell mom I'll see her at Thanksgiving."
