Bro I just installed the Dobinsons Billet UCAs and bro... Not only are they the best looking UCAs I've ever seen, but they're adjustable on car and the ball joints are sealed and fully replaceable. Pricier than some options but "Buy once Cry once" is sometimes my rule. They make some more standard UCAs also. I recommend Dobinsons everything but I'm also in a Toyota/Lexus and they're really prominent in that space
I was looking for the pieces to my cross bar kit to make the video and I don’t think I have the stock components any longer. But I’ll tell you this. It’s pretty simple. Once you purchase the crossbars which I have as a link in the description, the kit will come with spacers that attach to your side rails. Then, there will be a bolt in the kit that is used to bolt the cross bar to the spacer. Throw the spacer away, take the bolt to the hardware store and find the same size bolt just longer. Long enough to reach through the cross bars and into the side rail holes on your Jeep. Then your done ✅
Thanks. Yea the cross bars come with risers that would normally lift them up over the side rails. I removed those risers and I found some bolts that were the same size as the bolts that came with the bars, just a bit longer and bolted them straight down to the holes in the side rails.
I can do that for you. What I’ll do is make it an IG reel. If you go to my IG page @grand_exploration I’ll post it there. Might take me a week though if you’re good with that.
But just in case you need to know sooner. All I did was take away the riser pieces of the cross bars(the piece that would normally attach to the side rails) I went to the hardware store to find a bolt long enough to pass through the cross bars and into the side rails bolt holes. The bolt holes you will be using are from the bolts to the side rail so just remove them on each side and replace it with the longer bolt.
@@GrandExploration that’s very helpful. I have the same setup but I’m not a fan of how high it currently sits. I’ll be doing this mod tomorrow afternoon lol. Thank you for taking the time to reply.
lightbars up top is the only way to get decent light output from them, anything below grill level is a waste of time The roof rack and mods is great though
Yea I realized that my lower light bar didn’t serve a good enough purpose. It helped a bit but I’ve since removed it and replaced it with a lower guard
Yea it’s pretty quick and easy. I’ll do a short video on it as soon as possible. Jeeps in the shop getting a new head gasket this week but I’ll get that up there for ya

Brother! I'm all in .. I like to support new channels and yours are definetly growing ... love the content and love the GC builds... I have a limited 5.7 myself and just ordered a lift kit , wheels and tires .. hopefully will install them soon
Would you recommend the Diesel or Petrol version and with Overland how is the Air Suspension? Would it be better to look for one without Air Suspension to then to a 2-3” permanent lift?
I have never had the diesel or air suspension but I do know that both the diesels and the 3.6l have their problems. The best route to go would be the 5.7L with coil suspension. I prefer coil over because I use mine for off-roading and coil suspension is stronger and more reliable. Air suspension is really nice for on road use. Yes if your looking to lift you will want to run coil overs 100%
I didn’t have the Quadra lift but I heard it’s not too bad. You just have to make sure you buy the proper shocks. Dobinsons lift has the proper shocks for the conversion
Hey man! Really like the way you setup the roof rack. Do you by chance know if it allows enough clearance for the sunroof venting/open with the rack setup low like this?
Thanks! I’m not sure I don’t have a sunroof. But if I had to guess I would say “No”. It’s pretty low. But if you want to measure yours and I can measure my rack clearance and let you know.
The website for the lift seems confusing. So many options. How do I know what to choose for all the spring options? Could I get a detailed part list for the lift? Have a 2015 overland with “air ride” (don’t roast me) and having a hard time finding one that will work
I removed the risers that come with the cross bars. I took the bolt that the cross bars come with to the hardware store and found the same size just longer so that it would reach through the cross bars to the rail.
The black Jerry can is a 2.5gallon and a Jerry can holder. The holder comes with two mounting holes on each side. I purchased a 1/4 inch aluminum slat drilled the holes to match the holder and attached it to my roof basket bars with some bolts.
Hey man, nice build. Did you test your 275/65 R18 without the lifted suspension? Wonder if I can fit em with the stock air suspension. Dont want to lift. Another question regarding the ipad clip.. how stiff is it with the arm? Does the ipad wobble when you go on a trail? Does the whole console/dashboard wobble? Its some weight on it with a good lever... Cheers from Germany
Hey thanks 🙏. When I had the 275/65 I already had a 2inch spacer but a buddy I know runs that size on his trail hawk with air suspension and he’s fine. You might want to look into the offroad animal links that don’t allow it to go into its lowest mode. As far as the pro clips. Nothing jiggles. Everything is secure off-road. I have had zero problems. You just don’t want to smack it with you hand back and forth because it can start to back out. But it has been wonderful.

My bad I thought I did link it. I’ll do that this afternoon. And my rescue insurance is now handled by Garmin. So you should be able to search Garmin rescue insurance and pick your package
Hey thanks. Actually if you take a look in the description I left the link there at the top of the list. Those are the ones I got but what I did differently is I removed the riser and bolted the bars directly to the side rails with a longer bolt.
I upgraded to a bigger size that same week but I still love them. They make some noise for sure but they do what they are suppose to and I love the way they look.
Thanks. The one next to the driver seat is from six monkeys off-road . The one on the 5th door is just some random one from Amazon meant to go inside a tactical backpack. I wedged it between the glass and the plastic. It holds good even off roading
Yes I did Dobinsons all the way around. My GC did come with tow package but not the Nivomat self leveling shocks that some come with so no issues. But Dobinsons has alternatives for that if you do
@@GrandExploration Hmmm… I’m confused… so is it a factory tow package with trailer plugins or just an aftermarket hitch? Two different thing completely. A factory tow package would’ve come with Nivomat shocks. Jeep looks great either way!
Factory with pluggins brother. And no Nivomat. Trust me. That was the main thing I was hung up on before I spent money on the lift. I even got the factory build sheet from where I bought it and sure enough, tow package and no Nivomat
My only reason for maybe why I don’t is that they were swapped out and changed cuz of age but I honestly don’t know or maybe an owner/dealer add on. But I know what your talking about. The aftermarket sits way low. Mine is behind the bumper with built in plugs. You can see on my IG @grandexploration.
@@GrandExploration Okay, I see it now. Looks factory. So, my next question, did get any warning lights after replacement shocks went on? The reason I ask is because some kits come with plug in to fuse box. So, you purchased the non-nivomat kit? I’m doing something similar but with Eibach suspension kit. Thanks for the info, much appreciated. Really enjoy your videos. Sent you a follow on IG. 🤙🏼
While Geolandars are probably the quietest Of the MT family. Yes they are noticeably louder than stock for sure. I don’t know how much MPG I lost only from my tires but as a whole with all mods. I went from 16 to around 14.5 Highway.

Just found this page and have been loving the vids. I have a 2018 grand Cherokee and have been looking to build mine into something like this. Love the way yours looks. Did you add anything to protect the radiator when you mounted the light? Or did you just keep the lower bumper off without adding anything? I like the look of the bumper being off but was curious about that
Thank you man. Glad you enjoy the channel. I don’t run the lightbar anymore because I added protection plates but when I did, no I just drilled straight up into the frame. I used to run it with the lower guard on but as I started doing more off-roading I just kept it off. I finally smashed the light on a rock and decided to remove it.
Hey! Love your WK2! Can you share the specs and / or links to your wheels and tires? Also, do you have the v6? Do you find it still powerful enough with the bigger wheels, lift, roof rack etc?

@@Vziera from what I hear with most diesels is yes it’s a good idea to get rid of that DEF. It ruins the engine. It just re circulates all the junk back to the engine and gunks it up. I’m not the guy with all the knowledge but I do hear that you are adding life to that engine when you get rid of the DEF.
Sick build! I'm planning a similar build (at least in terms of suspension and tires). I gotta couple of questions thought. First, how much pinch-welding did you have to do to fit those tires? And lastly, how is the ride quality compared to stock with that suspension lift kit? I'd love to get the extra ground clearance, but I'm not willing to sacrifice the amazing ride quality of these Grand Cherokees. Thanks!
Thank you!!! With the tire size in this video 275/65 R18 I did not need to do the pinch-weld. I had zero rubbing. If you watch my updated walk around video, I have moved up to 275/70 18 which is a 33 now. For that I had to flatten the pinch-weld flush. All the way flat. And I only get a bit of rub on the passenger front plastic fender which can be fixed by adjusting my strut up a bit. The Dobinson lift is amazing but the ride quality is going to depend on the spring you choose from their site. I have the medium coil which I think is rated for an extra 400lbs. Then there is a coil spring up from that which is stiffer or there is one below mine which is more kushy and closer to the stock ride but cannot take as much weight. For me the medium spring feels great. I notice it being a bit stiffer but when you go over a bump or obstacle you can still feel it squish down. I think you will be very happy with dobinson. Just pick the spring that will best suit you.
Digging the channel. Im sure it will grow. How do you like the aluminum skid plates? I like the weight savings over steel; but now I'm more curious .... How has the aluminum held up? Also, thats a really nice build.
Thanks!!! Yea I’ve really enjoyed watching this channel grow. The aluminum plates have held up pretty nicely especially while using them for more than what they are made for. The only issue I ran into was, I put a steel front guard on since this video and I bashed it pretty good. The steel of course held up but it caused the aluminum sump plate to bend and get pushed back. So far I just hammered it flat again but I’ll probably need to go steel for the things I’m doing now.
Hey bro your Jeep build is sick. This video crossed my feed and I had to subscribe. I’m in the process of modifying my 17 Limited. I’m definitely adding a few items from your setup. First though, how are your spacers holding up. Someone told me to get KSP spacers but I noticed you have titans. Have you had any issues with them so far and did you order their lug nuts too?
Hey how’s it going? I appreciate that!!! No my spacers have been great and I’m hard on my Jeep. They are what’s called hub centric spacers so the stress isn’t on the lugs it’s on the hub. Another great brand is Bora spacers. Mine are a 1.5” and I did buy their lugs nuts at first and did not use them cuz they are super long. My stock ones worked fine
I have even upgraded to bigger tires since this video and they are holding strong. You just want to make sure a couple hundred miles after you install them, go back and re-torque them to spec. Then you will be good to go
@@GrandExploration awesome! Yessir I appreciate it. I have wildpeaks on right now and the spacers would really give me that aggressive look I’m looking for. Also did you have to shave down any of the screws or you were good?

Bro I just installed the Dobinsons Billet UCAs and bro... Not only are they the best looking UCAs I've ever seen, but they're adjustable on car and the ball joints are sealed and fully replaceable. Pricier than some options but "Buy once Cry once" is sometimes my rule.
They make some more standard UCAs also. I recommend Dobinsons everything but I'm also in a Toyota/Lexus and they're really prominent in that space
Thanks! I’m gonna check them out
Beautiful build. How did you run your light wiring? Could be a good video to show.
Absolutely. Something I happened to miss on the video. Checkout vehicle 3m wire hiders on Amazon. Check this out! a.co/d/8Oebudi
Used these to cover the wires down the windshield right into the engine bay.
Anyway you’d make a tutorial on the crossbars, how to bolt them?
I will be working on the old Jeep tomorrow so I will do a short video on the cross bars for sure.
Have a 2011 wk2, how did you bolt the crossbars down? I really like the low profile look of the rack. Thanks
Thanks. Yea the cross bars come with risers that would normally lift them up over the side rails. I removed those risers and I found some bolts that were the same size as the bolts that came with the bars, just a bit longer and bolted them straight down to the holes in the side rails.
Awesome. Thanks!!!
what the brand of magnetic charger phone mount ? thanks great car CONGRATSSS!!!!!
Appreciate it. The phone mounts are made by pro clip USA
I hope you got a 33" spare tire in the spare compartment, because you don't want a different size spare
Haha yes but it doesn’t fit in the compartment
But sometimes we don’t bring a spare to save weight. We have plug kits and side wall kits that fast dry in 5min and onboard air compressors
I wish I could fit it in the compartment. Been thinking of a tire carrier I just don’t like the look of them. I probably will though.
Would you do a short vid on how you bolted the crossbars directly to the runners?
I can do that for you. What I’ll do is make it an IG reel. If you go to my IG page @grand_exploration I’ll post it there. Might take me a week though if you’re good with that.
@@GrandExploration sadly i don’t have IG
@@codytatum9510 ok let me see what I can do for ya.
Sweet Build! I love the color!! Good luck with the channel!!
Appreciate it. 🙏
Nice setup. I'm looking to put a light bar in the near future. Also, pricing a roof rack. Nice setup.
Thank you. It’s changed a bit since this video but thanks. Check out 6 monkeys roof rack options.
lightbars up top is the only way to get decent light output from them, anything below grill level is a waste of time
The roof rack and mods is great though
Yea I realized that my lower light bar didn’t serve a good enough purpose. It helped a bit but I’ve since removed it and replaced it with a lower guard
Great video my guy!!! The WK2 is looking bad ass😎
All thanks to you fam
Grand Explorations, could you do a how to on that cross bar mod?
Yea it’s pretty quick and easy. I’ll do a short video on it as soon as possible. Jeeps in the shop getting a new head gasket this week but I’ll get that up there for ya

Nice Jeep. Great video. Good looking dog.
Ha. Appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed
Was it easy to replace the Quadra lift
I didn’t have the Quadra lift but I heard it’s not too bad. You just have to make sure you buy the proper shocks. Dobinsons lift has the proper shocks for the conversion
Love the build
Thank you. I appreciate that
@@GrandExploration Appreciate that, I'll get the measurements shortly!
Awesome video and rest build !
Thank you. 🙏 appreciate it
The website for the lift seems confusing. So many options. How do I know what to choose for all the spring options? Could I get a detailed part list for the lift? Have a 2015 overland with “air ride” (don’t roast me) and having a hard time finding one that will work
I’m having a hard time finding it too. Everything is now saying does not support Quadra lift. I’ll have to dive deeper
@@GrandExploration let me know! Greatly appreciated and love your content. Slowly watching them all! Lol
Your Jeep it’s fantastic. Greetings from Ukraine.
Thank you so much! It’s actually changed a bit since this video. I’ve done a few more updates walk arounds since.
Hey man how did you bolt the cross bars directly to the rails
I removed the risers that come with the cross bars. I took the bolt that the cross bars come with to the hardware store and found the same size just longer so that it would reach through the cross bars to the rail.
What are you using for your gas can and mounting bracket?
The black Jerry can is a 2.5gallon and a Jerry can holder. The holder comes with two mounting holes on each side. I purchased a 1/4 inch aluminum slat drilled the holes to match the holder and attached it to my roof basket bars with some bolts.
How much would you estimate you put into the exterior modifications dollar value wise? I’m looking to start modifying my grand Cherokee
Hey. With only exterior I’m looking at about $8k

The only prob is the don’t work for the 22 model unless they are talking about the new model WL.

How do you like those tires now that you've put some miles on them?
I upgraded to a bigger size that same week but I still love them. They make some noise for sure but they do what they are suppose to and I love the way they look.
@@GrandExploration so what size are you running now?
33. 275/70 18
Nice vid man!! Question, who makes those storage bits you have on the back window and next to your drivers seat?
Thanks. The one next to the driver seat is from six monkeys off-road . The one on the 5th door is just some random one from Amazon meant to go inside a tactical backpack. I wedged it between the glass and the plastic. It holds good even off roading
@@GrandExploration cool thanks, haha that’s pretty crafty. Not sure id trust my fire extinguisher on it.
No def not. I have that mounted in the back window. I just use it for my hoses.
Did you do dobinson all the way around? Did your GC come with factory tow package? If so, any issues running different suspension in the rear?
Hey there - are the Geolanders noticeably louder than the stock tires on the freeway? Has ride comfort changed? Did MPG drop? Thank you!
While Geolandars are probably the quietest Of the MT family. Yes they are noticeably louder than stock for sure. I don’t know how much MPG I lost only from my tires but as a whole with all mods. I went from 16 to around 14.5 Highway.
@@GrandExploration thank you! Overall, is your freeway ride still smooth and comfy, or is the added noise annoying on long trips?
@@PhilippReker I can definitely hear it but it’s not annoying to me. It’s still smooth and my wife barely notices it and that’s saying something. It doesn’t feel like your driving on big knobs. It’s still plenty comfortable. Just not as comfy as stock. If that helps haha
yes thanks! I am between a V6 and the V8. Would you get the V6 again if you could chose all over?@@GrandExploration
@@PhilippReker no I would not. It does fine and I have no trouble with it. But that power would be nice with bigger tires.

New video alert!!!
Thanks for the walk through.
Thanks for watching !!!
Petrol or Diesel?
It is Petrol
Did you Dobinson all the way around? Do you have tow package?
15:44 smart
