easily one of the best guitarists, heck, musicians from the 90s.criminally underrated and underappreciated..billy can go fast-slow, heavy to light, and everything in between.
underrated ? no mate, everyone knows he's great guitarist ;) People used to be excited by superrockstarguitarists who play kilometers of useless solos ...
Wow, this is way better than the album version. I always thought the Machina tour version was best until I heard this. Yes, I am watching in 2019. Long live SP!
Cracks!
Still very much loved this Pumpkins era... still without Jimmy tho but what a creativity and superb dynamics. It was bitter dramatic after all the turmoil that happened and was still going on with the band and around it...
Pug is one of my favorites. I like this rock mix it up live version. Drummer pounds out the rhythm everyone was slick on their instruments. They are coming here in a few months want to see them!
He didn't get three percussionist to make up for Jimmy. He was trying to make the songs sound closer to the studio recording. There's too many layers of drum beats on adore for just one drummer to play. I mean you can get by with just one drummer. But it just wouldn't sound as good.
MsPark I mean... Jimmy is a amazing drummer, he really is. But to say Billy got three percussionist to fill in for Jimmy on the adore tour is just completely ignorant.
NoN4m3161 I agree as 1979 has at least 2 drum tracks one being jimmy and the other being the synth drum which is very obvious at the beginning. Billy wanted to expand the drums further but obviously without jimmy he was limited which I think steered towards the Adore sound.
I really dig the essentially new version of the song they worked up for the tour. Already a great album track and then we got this amped up version with all new dynamics and general feel. It reminds me more of the Siamese Dream into MCIS tour era- where they'd often let Jimmy just massacre the drums and they'd jam out a new flangey-as-hell outro. Obviously no Jimmy here, and that's regrettable.. but the guys here did a great job too.
Almost can't believe that is D'Arcy, I've never seen her move that much on stage ever. First time that it looks like she is enjoying it. Or her drug habit had finally loosened her up.
I was at this show, it was really good. Not my favorite performance of the original lineup that I saw (that’d be Bartow Arena in Birmingham AL in 93) but an outstanding show nonetheless. Very different energy from any other time I’ve seen them.
While I love Adore as an album, I wonder if Billy would have taken this style for Pug and Blank Page live and made them sound more like that on the album if it would have been a more commercially successful album?
Honestly I think it would've been more successful, Adore was beautiful but the production was so different than what fans loved about the Pumpkins that got them listening in the first place. I remember feeling disappointed when it came out since back then I was so into the guitar sound and theirs was my favorite. When Adore came out I wasn't able to fully appreciate it at first because I was so shocked by the change in their sound, I imagine I wasn't the only one with those feelings. Had they recorded like these live shows and I would've never had to take the time to gain the completely different kind of appreciation I found for them later with Adore.
@@feather6933 it always happens with us about fave bands. We believe they will never dissapoint us, but it's them who are making music, then who want to go into experiments to feel more artistic freedom whether it will be a success or failure. I love their guitar sound, that distorted sound, heavy screamy and weeping all in one. I remember the same happened with Radiohead for me after their Kid A and Amnesiac era, I almost hated and pushed them away, but then I thought what the hell, and slowly accepted them back, with their experiments venture, I mean we always have those old dear songs and sounds in our heart..

I don't understand why everyone seems to love the live version of this more than the album version. First time I heard Adore the intentional overproduction and dark gothic synths and hard beats blew my little mind. This is a cool live performance but it doesn't have the same impact on me somehow.
i really don´t like SP with aronoff... he´s one of the best... but bad match. This is a good example... playing so fast and agresive on this song??? why? ruined it.
Billy is a master of dynamics, he can seamlessly make his guitar go from weeping to screaming, seriously underrated guitar player.

Billy Corgan underrated mind
it's like he has that 70s rock god status but since it was the 90s, like nobody really really cares like they used to about guitarists

Good god what a performance
3:36 is so much harder than it looks. BC is a devilishly underrated player
and singer
love james' solo in this
Got to be the only one he got right, hes as low musician than D'arcy and one of the luckiest bad guitarist of all time.
That drummer looks like he turned up to this gig after cycling.

He overdid it. Kills the subtlety and emotion of the song.

At least he turned up.

Love that guitar intro. Better than the studio version.
billy's mistake was not recording Adore as a band like the live shows. these songs take on a very a perfect circle type feel.

I thought the same exact thing!
I thinking that her favorite song is perfect (sorry for my english)
You know you’re hittin the cans hard when you require gloves and safety glasses

Billy: Washing machine on spin on a rocket ship
Billy's my favorite vocalist tbh
Billy Corgan can't sing, and still sound great anyway.

Funny how they need three percussionists to make up for the one missing Jimmy C.

Adore isn’t for everyone. I wish Adore stans would get that through their heads.
Where are they playing and is there more of this show?
I sometimes wonder what Pumpkins would've come up with or how Adore would've sounded had Jimmy still been in tbe band?
Any version that sounds like the studio version? I'm basically talking with simpler / minimalist drum sounding.
