Did you mean to say that your map was oriented to magnetic north. I don't mean to be one of those people but worried I'm confusing things.
Agreed: your C.C. (Compass course) is 271° to follow the route. However the 271° is not your T.C. (true course) . The T.C. would be 286° . . 271°+15° East Dec. , when “correcting” from compass-to-true we add East. When “uncorrecting” from True-to-compass subtract East. and opposite for West Dec. Your reciprocal along route would be 106° (286°-180°)=106° True- or 091° Magnetic case you had to be found and airlifted out when approaching your route from the destination end, the 286° T.C. is also found by rotating the bezel ring so (North) on the ring lines up with the North-South lines on your map or chart then reading the degrees at the index. Your reading of the terrain and what to expext along the route is icing on the cake. Excellent posting Mz. Jessie ! much appreciated. Best wishes.

I don't think she talks too fast. You know, if any UA-cam video is too fast or too slow for your liking you can slow down or speed up the playback speed by clicking on the little gear icon. Hope that is helpful for you.
