    Not sure what I learned mostly about here; map and compass, dressin' or shootin'!!? Just watched a short video on compass with Rodney(?), and this seems like a cool, down to Earth channel. Simple and practical. Makes sense to me! The more awesome channels/information the better,.

    Button boots are the best for traction for sure. I'm not as good of hunter like you but at least I won't slip often..lol

    Because of the coming micronova, declination is moving much farther, and much faster and so declination information is likely incorrect but there is still a way to recalibrate magnetic declination using the shadow of sticks recording the path of the sun---rotation of the earth has not yet changed. First stick will show East. Mark it with a sharp stick pushed in. After a few minutes you can mark sun shadow travel where the shadow has moved - Push another stick in to mark West. Lay a straight stick from the E mark to the W mark. Geographic north or True North is 90 degrees from the E-W line. With your compass pointing toward True North, note how far off your compass is now. That is your true up-to-date declination. My up-to-date declination is 30 degrees, 15 degrees off from the official declination for my area. More on micronova in my 2nd book, Surviving the Micronova: This Train Is on the Tracks

    Are the boots you are wearing, are they the classic grange non insulated boots, or are they the burly boos that have a small amount of insulation.
    Also I used to wear a boot insert like you guys but hiking on a steep hill it used to slide around and make it uncomfortable to walk. Is there anyway you guys attach the insert to your boots or just put them in?

    • @mtndeer
      @mtndeer  6 років тому

      yep uninsulated with a snug fit trim a larger pad to fit perfect if you have to, you know footware its different for everybody!

    ok u hit the road which way to your truck?

    • @dalbyonemanband
      @dalbyonemanband 3 роки тому

      Use the aiming off method. If you know about where you parked on the map, aim just a bit to either left or right. For example, if i aim just a bit to the right, when i hit the road, i'll know to turn left. Or vice versa.

    Holding the azimuth ring and turning the baseplate is just stupid.
