That highboy and the closet behind are astonishing pieces. I think I could stay months in that house studying and marveling the furniture. Very inspirational. Thank you for another great episode ☺️
I like how Bob described the difference between a craftsman and an artist cause I always tell clients to send me a picture and we'll get it made for ya. 👍🏻
I saw some of Bob's pieces last year when he brought them to a meeting of the Society of American Period Furniture Makers, and gave a talk about them. He had 2 of the work tables and they are absolutely amazing. The detail is stunning. Hope to see him Saturday.
I just wish I had the patience to build all the stuff you see these guys/gals build. I tried making pens for a while, that didn't work out too well either, felt I was spending way too much time sanding and finishing than it was worth, and turned out to be the case. People will buy a package of pens for a dollar and call it good, you try selling them even a $20 pen and they say nope.
With the dust collector, many people just put it in a separate room, or even an outside building away from the work area to keep the noise down...which I think would be a much better solution than a much smaller dust collector.
If you look closely, when we enter the shop you can see the return filter for a 3hp Cyclone on the right hand side of the shop. The Cyclone is in the basement, the return is in the shop so it doesn't suck all the heat put during the winter. All ductwork is under the floor in the basement. I have 4 shop vacs for spot suction on 2.25" fittings. A Cyclone does not do well when necked down to 2.25"

HW, thank you for another outstanding episode!
love watching, keep up the cool videos...from kansas..
Amazing!!! What I’d give to be able to be his apprentice for a few years.
