There used to be a Windsor chair shop in Chipping Norton in England. The home of Windsor chair making in England is High Wycombe where there is a chair museum. Ash and Elm are the traditional woods. Elm for the seat. They require perfect joints at perfect angles. They were originally garden chairs at Windsor Castle. Famously Winston Churchill did not like them. I think they are wonderful.
“Bodgers” turned the ash wet in the woods around High Wycombe ready for the factories to make the chairs.
