Man, that ending was so well made, the misdirect with Owen and George and the way when it happens it makes you feel like you should've known all along.
Izzy was right at the end about seeing all of that. I know it’s a show and not real but when my aunts breast cancer came back in 2008, she developed tumors and a brain tumor and was seeing ghosts that nobody can or can’t imagine. We went to go see her after Christmas I brought my little bbg chihuahua with me to Texas and my aunt loved her so much we were alone talking in her bedroom and I asked her if she was seeing anything or anyone that’s not supposed to exist in this world? My aunt nodded yes and said she doesn’t want to freak me out and I told her that I promise I won’t. She said she saw pretty butterflies flying around her parents who passed away back in mid 80s and early 90s smiling at her. I teared up smiling and just looking at her because butterflies between her and me was a hobby we did together. Certain projects including butterflies like making certain ones or buying from the store. I hugged her and she said not to worry because she will be ok and not to tell my mom because she will cry heavily and freak out. I didn’t start watching greys anatomy until 2018, I didn’t want to watch another hospital drama show. I thought this show would be bad but when I started watching from the beginning it suprised me and wasn’t bad at all. This episode hit me hard because I started thinking about my aunt and what she told me, sorry if this is long but I wanted to share it with you and everyone else. 🙂💜
I kind of get the amputation thing. There are the rare patients that no matter what they do for them medically or surgically, the pain just does not get better or even tolerable so they opt for amputation.
It was chainsaw pumpkin carving the day the other guy came in. He got ahold of a chainsaw and tried to cut his own foot off.
For the guy with the foot I want to say I don’t think it was the right solution, but as someone with chronic pain and also has a condition that makes it so I have very little to no help from any drug I understand his desperation.
Dealing with debilitating pain constantly makes you crazy, angry, depressed and suicidal especially if you don’t have a good support system. This guy would probably have overdosed on painkillers in a desperate attempt to get away from the pain for only just a couple hours
It's such a hard frickin' decision! Also, can't wait for the next one!
And here we go!
The other guy with the foot used a chainsaw from the chainsaw pumpkin carving festival to start to cut it off. He felt like he had a dead/ other persons leg attached to him and it felt wrong. The soldier felt pain while the other guy could have probably had some kind of mental health intervention. They having tried different kinds of pain relief without working on the soldier I kinda get resorting to cutting his leg off. I think medicine should be more focused on quality of life. Sure try all other options before getting to the extreme option but the extreme option shouldn't be ruled out because it's unconventional. Sure it was a healthy working leg, that doesn't account for his pain though. I think taking the leg off as per his wishes was the ethical thing to do. He will need a prosthetic now but he will have a better quality of life. Once fitted and gone through physio he can go back to the army. Which he want's to do. And I'm not sure of if possible with amputations but he could potentially donate parts of his leg to others. Nerve grafts, skin grafts, bone grafts, tendon and vein grafts. I think in all it's the kind thing to do. Even with the chainsaw guy I think if mental health intervention doesn't help I think amputation is the kind thing to do. Yes he will struggle but if he was so mentally pained by the limb to try and cut it off on his own there has to be an argument that removing the limb is the best course of treatment for his quality of life.
Great reaction as always, your face at the end
When I initially watched this episode, I agreed with your opinion as well. But I recently watched a PBS documentary called Augmented that talks about amputees and advances in prosthetics that went through a similar process and had the same surgery and it kind of changed my perspective a bit.
OK, your face toward the end is literally every single Grey's fan when we discover George joined the Army! 💀
Eek here we go
Oh...we're here already...😢
Seattle grace is George's army family.
Jajajajajajaja I love your reaction 😂
