Sometimes ideas look good on paper and need to stay there. This is one of those ideas. Love my Ryobi stuff but this is a no go for me. Great video as always!!
I got one and it goes through a lot of the fluid. I use it now with resolve spray and separately hot water in the tank. Spray on the resolve, agitate and then spray hot water, Re agitate and then vacuum up. Vacuum is very sensitive to viscosity of the fluid being vacuumed. Works well on small spots and spills. Not great on larger stains.
I just picked up a bottle of the fluid, it says dilute 4/1 with water, I found it worked best with warm water, I am having trouble with the vacuum loosing suction though.
@@johnfarscapeJust bought one as well. The suction depends a lot on the surface to provide a tight seal. Works good on soffas or similar textiles which provide a good seal.
significant information... I like most Ryobi tools, have several, they are good value...but this tool will NOT be one on my wish list for Christmas. THANKS
I got one and it serves its purpose but the suction is lackluster. I got it because I have an elderly dog who once in a while has an accident ot throws up. It helps clean that up until I can used the heavy duty rug scrubber but I wouldn't recommend it as a soul cleaner.
Having gotten one a few weeks ago (before seeing this review) I'd agree that lackluster is a good description as well as awkward (the placement of the buttons can prevent being able to really press the pickup into the carpet/rug from what I've seen so far). However, I don't think it falls into the category of being entirely useless either. Really seems to be an attempt to create an all-in-one solution for cleaning up after pets, and smaller spills/stains (made by kids or adults). In that role, even being as limited as it is it does work fairly well for spilled drinks or other smaller liquid-based stains - at least well enough I'd rather grab it over a roll of paper towels for fresh spills.
Obviously, I’m a big Ryobi fan and I was looking forward to buying this. Thanks for the review because that thing a is piece of crap and you saved me $120 lol.😂👊🏾
Hart has one of these out already. Ide rather just spray with a bottle and use a bigger shop vac, get more suction and cleaning power. But a clever tool
I have an M12 wet dry vacuum. I think I’d use a spot cleaner and then the wet dry vacuum to suck out the cleaning fluid. This tool also looks hard to clean out, lots of small compartments with different liquids.
Damn, I was looking forward to this, but lackluster seems to be about right. Hmm could still be more convenient than dragging out the spray bottle drill and brush, and wet-dry vac though. Tough call.
Making the front vacuum part removable was a big mistake, when Tim pulls back you can see it separate from the body and it loses all vacuum strength. It should have been held in with a screw and a gasket on the edge
I really like most of Ryobi tools, this is a definite no for me. Listening to the brush struggle so bad with so little was the first nope. the vacuum isn't any stronger than a Fisher price vacuum.
I think ryobi should sell this feature as an extension to all hand held vacuum and same feature on stick vacuum and its 18v drum vacuum as an extension, too bulky
By all means, feel free to scoff at will, Tim. Watching that gizmo whirrrr away sporadically and blow through the cleaning fluid like Hunter Biden on a pound of nose candy had us in tears. 🤣
That thing is terrible..there is another model by Ryobi I was looking for to see it tested out. Car floor mats are a good thing to test these portable carpet cleaners on. Thanks
I appreciate the demo, BUT it says very clearly in the operation manual that this IS NOT intended for set-in stains, it's for "spot-cleaning" fresh spills. So, your review is pretty much as disingenuous as a review can get. You use some ancient car floormat that's crushed and caked with who knows how many months of filth for it to reach that state ... then use a device that isn't made at all for the task you're asking it to do - and judging its performance by - then declare that its ineffective.
I just bought one, had bad results. Looked up reviews to confirm. It’s getting returned. It’s quite awful. Take the filter out of your shop vac, keep a spray bottle handy and a brush attachment for your drill. Party on.
Ypou dont use the product as they should work, you need to spray and brush and later use the vacum with the brush on.... Did you read the Instructions???
Junk. Do yourself a favor and get a corded 1. The wife tried a cordless 1 made by bissel with a built in battery and that was garbage too. Returned it the next day. Unless dewalt comes out with one at on the flexvolt platform (unlikely) it jus seems this is something that needs to be corded in my opinion. Seems like this kind of stuff needs a higher voltage to be efficient. The wife did get this bissel crosswave floor cleaner thing that is cordless and that actually works pretty good but that has a 36v built in battery.
I love Ryobi. But this spot remover 🤔🤔🤔🤔 directions. See spot on floor. Sit spot remover over top of spot. Spot is now removed from your line of sight 🤔🤔😂😂😂 could probably do better with and electric toothbrush. Ryobi should put me on the design team. I see a couple dozen ways I could improve this product.
The bissell corded spot bot works great, and has a manual hand tool. By comparison the bissell rechargeable spot cleaner is utter garbage but this ryobi seems even worse. The Bissell oxy solution gets diluted in water so goes a long way. This pre diluted Ryobi solution is a terrible economic proposition and it foams up way too much!
great review, horrible product. i bought into the "rug doctor" a few decades ago and love that thing with the upholstery attachments. i'm not sure if it was the floormat or a thinner carpet would have worked much better but this thing just performs so badly. the tank looks like it may hold 5oz of liquid, probably have to refill it multiple times before the dirty tank is filled. dollar store sprayer and a roll of paper towels look much better that his poor "tool"
Why are you saying everything two and three times over and over and over again do you think that we can't get it the first time or something this is a waste of time
No thanks RYOBI, perfect demo even though they all can't be winners...
Sometimes ideas look good on paper and need to stay there. This is one of those ideas. Love my Ryobi stuff but this is a no go for me. Great video as always!!
Ryobi.. hit or miss with their products. This one's a definite miss. Great review 👍

@@jonathanlarsson1406 haven't tried that one so I can't say.

This tool reminds me of the old 1970s TV comedy movie "The Big Bus"
Hi! You think this will work on teddy wool? /Jonathan Sweden
I have an M12 wet dry vacuum. I think I’d use a spot cleaner and then the wet dry vacuum to suck out the cleaning fluid.

I don't see the reason add the spray on the tools
Damn, I was looking forward to this, but lackluster seems to be about right.

Shop vac is gonna actually do something
Making the front vacuum part removable was a big mistake, when Tim pulls back you can see it separate from the body and it loses all vacuum strength. It should have been held in with a screw and a gasket on the edge
Can't turn it sideways and I've had 20$ shop vacs with 10x the suction
I really like most of Ryobi tools, this is a definite no for me. Listening to the brush struggle so bad with so little was the first nope.
the vacuum isn't any stronger than a Fisher price vacuum.
Are you not supposed to add water to the solution? I don’t think you’ve done it properly
It`s supposed to be water to detergent 4-1, yes
I think ryobi should sell this feature as an extension to all hand held vacuum and same feature on stick vacuum and its 18v drum vacuum as an extension, too bulky
Nice video, but the vacuum.... is trash

Should’ve been an ever charge model
I say that’s a big no for me
Definitely not for larger areas but handy for a quick spot clean if a child spills something
Bounty, the quicker picker-upper FTW!

man I was scrubbing cat vomit out of my carpet today. wish I had something like this super portable.

You used 0 water. You have to rinse with water afterwards with any carpet cleaner. It wouldn't pick up because it was all suds.
I think lack luster is being nice and would say this is a Ryobi miss.
Wrong tool for floor mat I reckon. Throw it in the washing machine.
As you say it probably works well for fresh carpet spills.

love ryobi products however this isnt great.
I have a lot of ryobi products that work well. This thing though is a piece of crap.
